    Oh hell to the no.

when I go to the kid’s house I have fun playing music on their echo, but we do not have any smart anything in our house.

Except perhaps the TV DH bought, I’m not sure sure.

But other than that, no thank you.

I am not an expert on student loans and I didn’t sleep in a Holiday Inn, BUT

Doing some research over these years since Bath House destroyed the student loan program, I have discovered that

Student Loan Interest is capitalized, like a credit card, so interest accrued is added to the original debt. Is that correct?

There may well be be borrowers who welch on paying back but I think it would be far more humane to treat student loans like a car loan, instead.

A fixed amount of interest paid back. Borrow $25,000? Pay back 30. Or whatever.

The noise over unpaid student loans is not completely fair, as the practice as is is not fair. The government should not be acting as a loan shark against young, naive students and starry eyed parents.

    Cheers.

-————I regret selling my ‘69 Karmon Ghia-————

Oh, I bet it was. ... When it was time to buy my first car, the neighbor was selling his KG, a lovely, red convertible. Oh it was my dream and I lusted after it.

However, Momma had other ideas and I ended up with a ‘73 Dodge Swinger coupe, rusty orange with cream colored roof and interior, and I was bitterly disappointed.

However, Momma didn’t realize what she bought for me and neither did I, until I fell madly in love with every bit of that car.

I kept it for about 8 years until the engine seized. My first ex was a cheap SOB who said he’d done the oil himself but actually never did.

    Live and learn.

    Cheers!

Are the Socio-Marxists Formerly Known As Democrats still insisting on free healthcare for illegals?

I know it’s muddled in with the ACA stipends, but I have lost the thread of it at this point.

If Sen Fetterman has become my go-to for updates we must be living in the Twilight Zone.

But really, before I go waving this under noses, it is still a stand-off over payments for illegals, and what else?

The women who were there know the names and actions of these men and women they say abused them.

They themselves could name who did what to whom. Our government sure isn’t going to name names and deeds.

Fear of retribution? I guess, maybe. But until the names and deeds are released publicly this issue is a distraction, a frustration, and a go-nowhere waste of time.

Yesterday I stumbled onto a website called Mobilize US -calling on white people to do “White People’s Work After A Maga Win”.

They have online training seminars to show white people how to protest and help minorities, or something. I was trying to find out who the website belonged to but it’s on a platform that hosts many and ONLY of these kinds of socialist things.

    Background info:

The Mobilize. us site is owned by Bonterra, a social good software company. Mobilize was acquired in 2020 by EveryAction, which later merged with Social Solutions and CyberGrants to form Bonterra.

    Details on the ownership:
Acquisition by EveryAction: On November 30, 2020, EveryAction acquired Mobilize. EveryAction provides software to nonprofits and progressive political campaigns.

Merger to create Bonterra: Following the acquisition, EveryAction combined with Social Solutions and CyberGrants to become Bonterra.

Founders of Mobilize: The Mobilize platform was originally co-founded in 2017 by Alfred Johnson and Allen Kramer. It was designed to help progressive campaigns and organizations recruit and manage volunteers.

That’s as far as I’ve gotten, but it’s full of opportunities for white people to go make asses of themselves.

We ARE in a Civil War. Our side has yet to take up arms against the aggressors.

Oh, absolutely. They are Marxists, Communists, Maoists, and worse all rolled into one.

The ideology has infected the younger generations as they made their way through public school and colleges that encourage revolutionary teaching.

We have recognized this for a long time.

That the American Democratic Party still has them under their tent is despicable. If the violent ones have taken over the tent, get a new tent and disavow the animals.

    How fun!

I bought my Caputo a few months ago, but got the wrong bag. I was after flour without the USA’s “enrichments”, to make bread. (Sourdough for 2.5 years now).

00 Pizza Flour does not make good bread, at all. But it makes tremendous pizza! And pasta, it turns out. With a little semolina and olive oil added.

There are so many pasta varieties that are unknown. Back in .. ‘20? ‘21? It seemed stores were getting anything they could find to put on the shelves.

A Ronzoni variety, Creste di Gallo, made its way home with me. Maybe 4 boxes, 5. Ridged, thick elbows with ruffles on one side. After I used those up I have never found them again.

Other things have never been seen again since then. Printed napkins and paper towels for instance.

Anyway. Yes, 00. I have since found King Arthur flour that is not enriched but has “enzymes” in it. Looking for no folic acid.

The other Caputo, Chef’s flour (red bag) is supposed to be good for bread but is too expensive in the places I can find it.

It was sold at my local Chef’s Store next to the blue bag of Pizza, $35 for 50 pounds, but neither has been back.

Ah well, yes, share secrets! I love learning :)

I’ve started making pasta with Caputo 00 flour, now I need a pasta machine to make tube things.

That’s a great memory. What part of the country? I wonder if it was regional recipe.

I thought I made the best mac and cheese for decades until I saw, and tried, the recipe from America’s Test Kitchen. Hands down, the best and I’ll probably never make it another way again. (I’ll go find it if you want)

And it lends itself to endless variations.

Boil yer elbows in water and milk til al dente.
IIRC, it’s 1 pound of pasta, 2-3 cups of milk, 2-4 cups water.

    Don’t drain it.

ADD 1/2 pound American cheese on heat

Off heat, add dried mustard, salt and pepper, whatever spices.

ADD another 1/2 - 1 pound whatever cheese you want.

Add in whatever else you like, bacon, broccoli, etc.

    Season to taste.

If you want crumb topping, I have found buttered and pan-browned Ritz crackers are incomparable.

It’s also amazing with diced pepperoni and broccoli added, with mozzarella being one of the cheeses.

    Cheers!

    Soooooo ......

... make a bechamel cheese sauce with water, instead of learning how to cook the recipe. Got it.

Heck. Based on this winning “discovery” why not just make a regular bechamel with milk, as in homemade mac and cheese?

I mean, any pasta with cheese sauce is mac and cheese, yeah?

  • Speaker Johnson answers MTG: GOP leaders plugged into expiration of enhanced Obamacare subsidies

Just in case anyone is still reading let me tell you my experience.

For myself in the Marketplace for 3 years now, my premium has been about $700 a month with a small subsidy. Deductible is $8000, OOP Max is $9000. With that and everything else our standard of living is in the 17th sub-basement.

Last year was wild with several out of the blue emergencies. I am still paying off $20,000 to the hospital on top of the premiums paid.

Coverage after deductible is 50% of the negotiated price. I broke a bone in my foot and needed a walking boot. The podiatrist office sold me one , I didn’t realize until after the bill came that they charged me $750 for it. The “negotiated price” was a bit over $500, I had to pay $275 for a POS walking boot I could have gotten at any pharmacy for less than $60. Talk about outrage? What else did I way overpay for?

Thank GOD this year has been normal.

Next year I will not be able to pay double premium if it comes to it and drop the POS “insurance” altogether. Frankly I don’t know why why I even bother to have it at all, I might do better as a cash customer.

The “ACA” and the Marketplace destroyed the pretty good insurance system we had in place before the sonofabitch Bath House got immaculated to the White House.

The money we’ve all paid into the fraudulent scheme has gone somewhere - where?

I still say drop it, drop the subsidies, get rid of the ACA altogether and do better because the “ACA” is neither affordable nor sustainable. Keep on this road and DC will throw up its hands and put us all on Medicaid, socialized medicine.

MTG has her heart in the right place but she has no idea.

I believe DC is still exempt from the outrageousness of the ACA, yeah?
