Two brothers from Nigeria pleaded guilty Wednesday in connection with an international sextortion ring, in which they threatened to release a nude photo of a 17-year-old Michigan boy, driving him to commit suicide inside his home.
Samuel Ogoshi, 22, and Samson Ogoshi, 20, each pleaded guilty to conspiring to sexually exploit teenage boys, US Attorney Mark Totten said in a statement.
The Ogoshi brothers await sentencing later this year, and we are still pursuing the extradition of the third defendant, Ezekiel Robert,” Totten added.
DeMay, 17, was found dead in his home of a self-inflicted gunshot wound March 25, 2022, after an Instagram account officials said was run by the three Nigerian men threatened to release explicit photos of the teen if he did not pay $1,000.

Second, why can't we teach children that taking nude pictures of yourself or letting anyone do that, is likely to get you badly hurt?
The predators just ratchet down on the poor fools they exploit, demanding more money, more explicit pictures, more self abatement, more self harm.
There are a lot of wicked people who are expert at this, and there are a lot of ordinary people who take vengeance on exes.
Third, parents shouldn't let children have smart phones.

I have a friend that seemed paranoid avoiding any pics of himself online in any state at anytime. I used to rib him about it from to time. I’m in his camp now.
Good on Nigeria for sending these creeps over here. Too bad we can’t execute them. We need to change some laws, we clearly are having far too few executions lately. And no, I am not kidding.
That being said, and I understand the objection to nude pictures, but if that’s all it is, a picture of your naked body, what, exactly is such a big deal?
That’s the body G-d gave you. It’s not “dirty” or “shameful”.
They talk you into sexual acts.
Other than the fact that he’s a minor kid and it’s criminal to post his nudes, criminal to extort people, and criminal to post revenge porn - why would anyone care these days if some nude selfies went on the internet?
It’s terrible, the boy is young and probably doesn’t have the perspective to understand this kind of thing would pass fairly quickly. His photos wouldn’t get wide circulation, they would be taken down by all the major social media platforms and hosts almost immediately. Any of his friends who kept the photos or shared the photos would be looking at a felony charge and a lifetime on a sex offenders registry. Yeah maybe he’d be the source of humor for a few weeks at school, and maybe he’d get a new nickname. But he would also probably get a lot of chicks (or dudes if he’s into that) - the curious, the sympathetic, etc. He might have even turned into a cause celebre heck Hilton and Kardashian basically published their own sex tapes to fatten their bank accounts. He didn’t have to embrace it that way, but could’ve done some good from the notoriety. He could have flipped it from shame to empowerment if he wanted to. Or he could’ve just gone on to live a normal life. His life was worth so much more and I’m sad he didn’t know that, and didn’t have anyone in a supportive capacity in his life to help him through it. It might’ve been tough for a very short time but then life would’ve gotten better.

True. The concept of "shame" doesn't exist in society any longer. But it seemingly existed for this boy. I would like to know more about his family.

the kid ended up roping in a bunch of his friends.
It was absolutely revolting. Thankfully, the show ended with the perp being hauled away.

I’m bef\ginning to think much of this black on white crime are just part of what they consider reparations.
So even if you did not share pics of your nude self someone can make it look as if you did and share those pics to the whole world.
Believe me, I’ll never take a naked picture of myself for other than medical reasons, but I don’t think I agree with you.
I’m no nudist, but not sure I think nudity has to be directly corelated with sexuality or marriage, etc.
Let me cite this: the world’s finest art contains an awful lot of naked bodies.

The porn and everything. Just want to do it directly myself, kid already knows I’m a Right Wing Nut, so maybe he’ll listen and not blow me off like he would mom & dad.
Some of these predators get their victims to do really degrading things or injure themselves. Maybe this boy was gay and didn’t want people to know. Maybe he was straight and thought he was talking with a girl and they told him every homi in Lagos was wanking off to him. It could be much worse than nudes.
Every victim should just say it’s an AI deep fake.
