My kids got me a Ronald Reagan dvd this weekend, and there are several references/jokes RR makes about Sam Donaldson. Please refresh my memory - was there some kind of feud going on ? If so, how did it start ?Also, I am looking for a clip of one of his speeches. I can't remember the exact wording, but the gist of it was that we should dream big, and "after all, why shouldn't we - we are Americans". If someone can tell me when/where that speech was given I would be greatful."I know in my heart that man is...

The Submarine Training Facility at Norfolk Virgnia held it's annual Submarine Veterans Memorial Service today. Submarines were less than 10% of our naval forces in World War II yet accounted for the lion's share of merchant shipping sunk. Submarines greatly contributed to the victory in World War II. In honor of these brave men, here is a list of the submarines that we lost during the war.USS SEALION (SS-195)USS S-36 (SS 141)USS S-26 (SS 131)USS SHARK (SS 174)USS PERCH (SS 176)USS S-27 (SS 132)USS GRUNION (SS 216)USS S-39 (SS 144)USS ARGONAUT (SS 166)USS AMBERJACK (SS 219)USS GRAMPUS (SS 207)USS TRITON...

They're back - Darwin Awards!! Yes, it's that magical time of the year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us. Here then, are the glorious winners for 2003. The 2003 Darwin Award Winners: 1. When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a holdup in Long Beach, California, would be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder. He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked... And now, the honorable mentions: 2. The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger...

I am looking for an acapella version of Mary Did You Know. I do not remember the name of the group which recorded it, but they were a contemporary group that put it on one of their CD's as a "ghost track". The group itself was not acapella, but the song was recorded acapella.

Driving down Military Hwy today in my F150 (fresh from the body shop!) I saw a little Toyota truck with a couple of stickers in the back window. I can't remember the driver side one, but the passenger side sticker said "Fire The Liar", obviously referring to our GW. I have printed out the Kerry-Fonda 2004 graphic I got here the other day, but I want another one to go with it to put in my window.

''Worried well'' may be making themselves sick NORFOLK — Doctors at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters tried Wednesday to head off more flu infections by urging parents not to rush children with run-of-the-mill illnesses to emergency rooms, where they are exposed to more serious viruses. The hospital began seeing a surge of patients in its ER early this week, not only flu-sickened children, but also the “worried well” – those with colds and other minor respiratory illnesses. Not all of those who have come to the ER this week needed hospital treatment, officials said, and some would have been...

Republicans Investigate Judge in Michigan Case Wrongdoing in School Quota Case Alleged By Charles Lane Washington Post Staff Writer Congressional Republicans have launched a renewed investigation of alleged wrongdoing by a Democratic-appointed federal judge in a landmark affirmative action case -- sparking countercharges that the GOP is using political pressure tactics against the judiciary. Judges of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, based in Cincinnati, said staff members from the House Judiciary Committee have visited judges and court officials in recent days -- in two cases appearing unannounced at judges' chambers. The staff members demanded documents and...

U.N. office in D.C. targeted By Betsy Pisik THE WASHINGTON TIMES NEW YORK — The United States this week proposed shutting down the influential office of the U.N. representative in Washington, prompting complaints from some U.N. officials that the move would curtail the organization's access to Congress. U.S. Ambassador John Negroponte suggested closing the $1 million-a-year U.N. Information Center (UNIC) at a meeting of the U.N. budget committee Tuesday, one of several proposed cost-cutting measures. U.N. officials were aghast at the suggestion, saying they had been assured that UNIC-Washington was not to be included in a planned consolidation of information...

Man steals ID of sex offender By Associated Press September 26, 2003 CLINTON, Conn. -- A good rule of thumb for an identity thief is not to steal the name of someone whose reputation is worse than yours, such as a sex offender. Police said James Perry stole the name and identity of a neighbor who turned out to be a convicted sex offender. Perry stole the identity of Robert Kowalski in order to obtain a drivers license, police said. Perry was living in Florida at the time and Kowalski was his neighbor. Perry had four drunken driving arrests which...

Judge who nixed call registry is on list By Associated Press Tribune staff reporter September 29, 2003 DENVER -- The office phone number of a federal judge who ruled last week that a national do-not-call registry is unconstitutional was among the thousands already on the list. U.S. District Judge Edward Nottingham's number was added in July to the registry, which was designed to block telemarketers' calls. It wasn't clear whether Nottingham himself registered the number or knew it had been registered. A call to the office Saturday was not immediately returned. Nottingham on Thursday stopped the Federal Trade Commission from...
