I dont know if your trying to be sarcastic, but Just short history...

WV Ohio and Va = Coal
UP MI and Mn = Iron Ore
    OH IN IL = Steel
    PA = Glass

Detroit = home of Ford Family, and families of Most US auto makers.

Detroit = Autos, auto parts, etc

1960 Detroit = BIG Companies + Big Labor = Control of entire region and Auto industry

1964 German and Japan Atuos make headway in market US auto indutry = blind and stupid (bad combination)

1968 Unions demand and get huge wage increases and lower producion quotas (Auto companies gutless)

1970s Japan makes Huge inroads US car makers produce junk cars from junk designs fall farther behind

1980s US still producing Junk Cars that will not sell, Labor still wants and get double digit increases to produce junk cars

1990s to today. Quality improves, and auto industry moves south to non union states. Overseas companies build plants in US away from overpriced Unions.

Future: Detroit will be ghost town (even more so than now).
Rest of michigan population requires US government to use Detroit as new Nuclear testing site. Figure whats left can not be as bad as what is there....

one more nail in the coffin of the Labor Unions.

This will Impact Michigan, where I live, very hard, but I hope, probably foolishly, that it will spur the people of this state to stop electing big labor supported politicians. As Long as we continue to be a closed shop state, we will continue to lose Jobs.

I would be very interested in seeing how many factories are opened in the Right to work states by Delphi and other companies that will step in to fill the hole left here.

The foolish thing is that the Governor will continue to be clueless as to why plant closings are occurring and what t do to stop it. I ask, what is more important, the Labor Unions or the Jobs of the people they are so ill serving.

    3. she is a member of congress... short of live action video from 4 angles with still cameras to back up showing her shoot at or attempt to stick an ice pick in the officer, they are untouchable....

One thing I noticed was the lack of any numbers as to the amount of land that would be required to grow the organic material, usually corn, as the basis for the fuel. It may look like a boon for the corn people, but i wonder just how much of the mid west would have too be put to corn to replace the gasoline used just in the US.

The really scary thing is that no where in the article did any one suggest a immediate solution for the problem. So today, as before, you have a 1 in 5 chance of not getting help when needed. No one seems to care that this is going on.

How about an immediate requirement that 3 operators must be on duty, at the phones at all times. Stagger Lunches and breaks.

That would depend on how your state views it. In Michigan, where we have more boaters and shoreline than any state but Alaska, I believe the law is that if you are moored to a structure, say a dock, the engine is off, your are OK. IF you are not moored to a structure, even if you are anchored, it is the same as any other vehicle.

My father in law and a bunch of his friends found out about this the hard way. 4 pontoon boats anchored and tied together in the middle of a lake to make a "party barge". Lots of drinking going on. Cost 4 of them citations for operating a vehicle under the influence and 9 of them open container and public drunkenness citations.

and they paid the fines, every one of them knew they had messed up, they knew it was wrong, but they did it and paid the price.

you're over the top......going along with your theory, do you think cops should be able to come to YOUR house and arrest YOUR company if they are having a few brews?....
after all, YOUR home is not their home......

not at all, a private home is a private home. My Theory as you call it is does not allow for that. As far as I know, you do not need a license to have a few brews with your friends in your home, or their home for that matter. You do however have to abide by the drinking age laws, and are subject to the any and all local and state public drunkenness laws when you step onto public property.

If you wish to sit on your front porch a drink yourself into a stupor, feel free.

I thought being right and standing up for what is right is the root of being a conservative. You and I may disagree on this, but that is another matter.

Once again you have shown your intolerance.

I do not support a police state, I am probably the last person that would condone a police state. I do however respect the law and the law is clear, public drunkenness is illegal.

And why would i lose my temper and flame anyone? I understand that you have a differing point of view from me. I believe you to wrong as to most points on this.

My observation is that you and others here are the flamers. Name calling, abusive language, intolerence; these are all tactics of the left wing.

show me where I ever suggest the banning of booze. The discussion is about the legality of public drunkenness. I have no problem with people going to bars and having a good time, I have trouble with them getting drunk in public. The two are not the same.

a bar is not a private establishment. All bars that are open to general public access are licensed by the state they are in. The licensing of such establishments makes them subject to the definition of public places. Only those establishments that are close to the general public, such a private clubs fall outside this definition. And they still have to abide by the laws of the state.

Why am I fascist because I disagree with you? I know the law. I respect the law. At no time did I say you can't drink, I said you have no right to be drunk in public. There is a big difference. I also said what you do in your own home is your business.

I would suggest that you are very intolerant of others stated views. I would also suggest to you that this forum is open to all view points.

it should amaze me that so many of you think it is some form of government intrusion that you have no right to be drunk in public, but I am not.

As for our founding fathers, up to the early 1870s, it was common for public pillorying for public drunkenness. During the Civil war U.S. Grant had solders strapped spread eagle on wagon wheel for Public drunkenness.

At no time has being drunk in public been a right; tolerated, yes, legal, no. Please don't confuse public tolerance for legal right.

The laser will be low power and cause no damage. The idea is to test the laser targeting system. By doing it on a moving NKC-135, the test can be repeated many times.

I am proud to say I have owned a Model 94 since the early 70's and was given my fathers model 70 after he passed. Both were manufactured in the late 40's. Both are the true essence of the winchester brand. Extremely well built, accurate, and dependable. Both can still shoot half inch groupings at 100 yards. At least in the right hands. They will be passed to my son, and I hope to my grand children and great grand children. I believe that they will still shoot just as well then as they do today if they are cared for.

    Wrong again!!!

You have no right what so ever to be plastered/drunk in public. Not in a moving car, behind the wheel, walking in the park, or down the street on your anchored boat, sitting on a bench, or any other location; period.

What you do in your own home booze wise is up to you if you are an adult.

In truth, your attitude is one of the reasons that there are 10s of thousands of people killed by boozed up drivers in this country every year.

I wonder how many ex-NO residents have registered as residents of the place they ended up in. Legally speaking, if they registered as a resident of their current location by applying for a drivers license, they are no longer voters in NO.

of course, the corruption in NO really makes the outcome of an election questionable.

Well now we can have nice healthy smelly vomit covered street drunks instead of unhealthy smelly vomit covered street drunks.

The whole idea is a cop out. Boozers of all sorts, weather it is a gutter bum or a Ivory tower CEO are the same. only difference is the money.

I know I am gonna get flamed for this, but it is not an illness, it is a physical dependency supported and intensified by mental dependency. The only way to clean up a boozer is they have to want to. You can not force a boozer to clean up, the government cant, the church cant, no one can. And giving drunks free booze only encourages them to continue. It is absolutely stupid.

Do I have an answer? yes, i do. let them be. That is mean and harsh thing to say, but no amount hand wringing, brow beating, or governmental support can change these people. Either they change from the inside out or they eventually die.

I speak from experience. I have Family members that are addicted to booze and drugs. They now live a life between what they know is right and the lure of the junk. Remember, no one is conceived as a junky/drunk, we make ourselves that way.

Very true. Good Movies make money.

Look at the latest Harry Potter flick. US box office of just short of 300 million. World Box office of almost 900 million. This does not include the 9 million copies of the movie on DVD that have bee sold in the US alone. At an average price of $19.00 that is 228 million dollars in 10 days sales. they sold 5 million the first day alone. This does not include the millions made in other countries and the toys, games, and other marketing. I know that some here do not like the Harry Potter series and that is OK. But to millions, these are wonderful movies, they are funny, adventurous, scary, and an all around good time for all.

I can not understand why the holly weird types cant figure out that this is were the money is. The 4 movies have made a combined 4+ Billion dollars.

Isn't it ironic that the combined box office of the 4 top movies at the Oscars is less that that of a movie that was nominated for only two awards and got neither.

Thank goodness for peoples choice awards....
