I watch a lot of TV. Have said so several times over the years. I enjoy it so don't throw rocks at me. Watch most all the cop shows and some off the wall stuff. And one of the off the wall shows is Quantum Leap. I have not watched one news program (local or national) since early in the election day when Trump was not allowed to win. Got off FR too for a couple long years but finally came back a few months ago. I'm saying this because I have never heard the term non-binary. Ran across it...

So a semi drives a 1,000 miles. At 5 miles a gallon it takes 200 gallons. If a gallon of diesel costs $6 thats $1,200. To put it another way, more simply, it costs a dollar a mile (or so) to run a semi. These figures have no real value because I don't know anything exactly. Just guessing. But the point is It can easily/readily be pointed out how much it costs to run a diesel semi. Now take a semi running off batteries. How many batteries, how long do they last and lastly how much does it cost to...
  • Amazing Grace

A few years back I made this query but got no answer. Thought I'd try again. In the mid 80s I compiled a library of music of over 3100 pieces. It is the only thing I listen to in my cars. So over the many years several have become my favorite. The second of which is Nana Mouskouri's Amazing Grace. This song, IMHO, best puts out her incredible voice and I have more than one of her albums. But gettng back to the piece, in the background is a choral group that sounds almost as good as her. I have...
  • Smart Tablet

I want to keep my '08 Mazda CX-7. But it lacks one feature I would like to have. When I get into my '16 Soul and turn it on the console automatically links with my simple flip phone. Thats flip phone, not a smart phone. Smart phones are way too smart for me and unnecessarily expensive, monthly wise. So is there a tablet I could put into the Mazda and do that same function. Pair with the phone. Then display incoming calls and and answer or deny by touching the screen? And if I answer, talk to the tablet/person?
  • Back On FR

OK, its been a little over 21 months. On 2020 election day we got home after voting. In an hour or two I had a premonition that Trump was not going to be allowed to win. I told the family that I am going to disconnect myself from all news on TV, radio, internet and anything else including FR of which I've been a member forever. Given the results I'm sure FR went beserk that day. My first 2 years in the Air Force I did statistics. Some years ago I thought....... if a program had all the election data...

A friend emailed this to me. Don't know how truthful/accurate it is. ********************************************************* Preparing to say goodbye... a message from Clint Eastwood My Twilight Years at 90 ... If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will come a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the important things to...

I'm in the middle of Miami Vice. Actually season 4 and thought I'd take a small break and watch the first episode of 24. WOW, was it explosive in more ways than one. Its been 20 years so I don't remember anything except for Kiefer Sutherland. Something really good to look forward to after Miami Vice. And back to Miami Vice, In one episode, out of nowhere, Sonny Crocket got married. Sure wonder how thats going to be folded into future episodes???? If one hasn't watched/seen 24 put it on your list!!
  • Mailins

Well, it started. Yesterday I heard on the radio that some Texas judge ruled that for all intent and purpose mail in ballots do not have to be signed by anybody. Well, not unsigned, just anybody can sign for anybody. He/she ruled that if verifiers (?) say the signature doesn't match one on record something along the lines of launching a rocket to Mars has to be accomplished before the ballot is NOT counted. Make that a democratic ballot. Hmmm 'democratic' was not mentioned and neither was Mars but in general all mail in ballots must be counted REGARDLESS!!!!! It...

If ever there was a description of 'esoteric' this subject/entry applies. As I have posted a few(?) times I spent the summer watching a couple of old TV shows. That would be Alias and Justified. Finished Justifed and can say that it is/was the 2nd best TV show I've ever watched. I've moved on to Miami Vice and now in the second season. So last week I took a break from Miami Vice and tried to watch Knight Rider. Problems, and that is what this entry is about. I use Exodus Redux to watch all these shows. I click on...

Not sure what FRs policy is about remarks on products but I thought this was kinda important. With all the memory pills this and that the wife said lets start taking Prevagen. I looked into the pricing and for two people thats an additional $100 a month. But I ordered some anyway. What,,, have to wait a year or two for effects?????? But before ordering some more I did some searching and of course ran across many, many items that say they do the same thing. Most advertised on TV. Finally, just to save a few bucks I looked into...
  • Justified/Vanity

Just started the fourth season of Justified. Really good show. A couple weeks back I remembered Miami Vice and did a search to see if it was available. Yup. So a couple of times I would watch an episode or two of Justified and then an episode of Miami Vice. Gotta stop doing that. After watching Justified it makes Miami Vice kinda sloowww. But then Miami Vice is from 36 years ago. But I'll watch it after I'm done with Justified.

A few months back there was a discussion about Echo devices. I did get an Echo Dot for the wife to try and vocally control our DirecTV box. But shes not into it and only uses it for spelling and stuff. Then recently I got an offer for a free Dot. I got it and put it into my office. They both work fine. And then my evening TV viewing went to hell. I watch Alias, Justified, Miamai Vice and stuff off the internet. But now I get continuous freezing. Then a couple of days ago I saw the lights...

To take a break from all the garbage :<((((( I finally finished the last episode of the last season of Alias. After the episode finished up popped a big poster saying thanks for the 5 years. Again, IMHO, it was the best show ever on TV. Did some searching on there ever being a remake/continuation. Almost to an actor they did not want to see a remake. They said the show was too unique. And if one still watches TV and has not seen it----------- As an aside I also watched the last episode of Blindspot. While the series was...

I have a pair of high end Costco hearing aids. Only wear them when I play cards, is that 4 spades or 4 aces, or go out to eat with friends. So last Friday we go out to our usual restaurant but as we started in they said that we needed masks till we sit down to eat and drink. Back to the car and don a mask. I sat down and started to speak to one of our friends and then remembered the mask. I grab it and pull it off and quickly realize that one of my hearing...
  • Blue Lives Murder

While driving I heard on Rush that Amazon is selling shirts that say "BLUE LIVES MURDER". Its all over the internet and I was wunderin' why there hasn't been a post on FR about it. Did some searches here but didn't see it. I know its impossible but it sure would be nice to see a measurable dent/reduction in Amazon sales because of its far left politics. And several other sites are also selling 'em. Has this been posted here??????

The TV season is over so I started watching movies I recorded over the winter/spring. Last night was "12 Monkeys". Ohhh the irony. It was all about preventing a virus from wiping out civilization. On and on about preventing the virus. It is science fiction and involves time travel all which makes the plot near impossible to follow. Its one of Bruce Willis's better/best movies. And Brad Pitt does a real crazy impersonation.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road? DONALD TRUMP: I've been told by my many sources, good sources - they're very good sources - that the chicken crossed the road. All the Fake News wants to do is write nasty things about the road, but it's a really good road. It's a beautiful road. Everyone knows how beautiful it is. JOE BIDEN: Why did the chicken do the...thing in the...you know the rest. SARAH PALIN: The chicken crossed the road because, gosh-darn it, he's a maverick! BARACK OBAMA: Let me be perfectly clear, if the chickens like their eggs they...

Short story long. Last night I watched the first episode of Alias. An espionage series starring Jennifer Garner from nearly 20 years ago. She nearly looks the same as today:<)))) Anyway the TV season is for all intents and purposes over till the fall. And I've had this show on my mind for about 6 months. Can't remember how or why. I started recording all TV on my video PC for about 10 years. And watch the shows from it too. But it broke down about 3 or 4 years ago and I could not restore it to its perfectly...
  • Walking/Vanity

I retired 'bout 14 years ago and we moved to a small town in Texas. Met an older couple at the local mall and they got me into mall walking. Actually became very good friends with them and even went on several cruises together. But back to walking. I got into a solid routine of walking 2 miles a day in the mall five times a week. Seems like I've been doing it forever. Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the mall closed about 6 weeks ago give or take and I stopped walking. Don't know why but I never tried walking here in the...

I'm considering doing something I said I would never do. Indirectly/directly buy an Alexa or Google device. I've said multiple times that I think Google is the 3rd most evil entity on the planet behind North Korea and Iran so maybe I'm just looking at Alexa. For the wife I'm thinking about getting one for her to change the TV channel, audio and stuff. I looked at a Samsung device but you have to push a button so I was thinking about the 'special' word command used for Alexa and the like. And I'm here to ask if anybody has...
