A few years back I made this query but got no answer. Thought I'd try again. In the mid 80s I compiled a library of music of over 3100 pieces. It is the only thing I listen to in my cars. So over the many years several have become my favorite. The second of which is Nana Mouskouri's Amazing Grace. This song, IMHO, best puts out her incredible voice and I have more than one of her albums.
But gettng back to the piece, in the background is a choral group that sounds almost as good as her. I have tried and tried to identify this group to maybe buy some of their work. But I have not been able to find out who they are and that is my query. Is there a way or does somebody know who they are?
And for the heck of it the best of all 3100 is JM Jarre's 4th Rendez-Vous.
IMHO, here is the best Amazing Grace, by Celtic Thunder, I have ever heard.
I’m sure you will like it too.
Thanks all. But listen to the group behind Nana Mouskouri. They too come across as really good. Just curious as to who they are. Besides its a mystery :<)))
To each his own. I was pretty disappointed the first time I heard NM’s Amazing Grace. The choral group ruined it for me, basically drowned her out. Sacrilege!
How much better if she had recorded it self-backing, ie, recording the background as well, and overdubbing it.
Or maybe a counterpoint duet with her own voice.
Two tracks of that wonderful one-vocal-chord voice, beats one of it with any dozen others in the background.
Speaking of Mouskouri, I never could decide who did “Three Bells” better, NM or Edith Piaf.

I much prefer the version by Edith Piaf, backed by Les Compagnons de la Chanson (the singing companions), from 1946. The song reminds me of my father, who, like the protagonist, was born in a community at the bottom of a valley, far from other humans and highways, was married in a church, and died on a starry night.
My father and I became friends with Tennessee Ernie Ford in his last years of life. He gifted me a couple albums which were mostly gospel he had done. He is one of my most listened to gospel artist alongside Bocelli. I also had the honor of escorting his body back home when he passed away in DC. Christmas music I have to go with Trans-Siberian orchestra, Bing Crosby and older mormon tabernacle choir and Rush’s favorites he had on his program.
I agree about TSO. We’ve even been to a concert or two. LOUD!
