    From NASCO's own website:

"North America’s SuperCorridor Coalition, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the world’s first international, integrated and secure, multi-modal transportation system along the International Mid-Continent Trade and Transportation Corridor to improve both the trade competitiveness and quality of life in North America. We were founded in 1994 as the I-35 Corridor Coalition and in 1996 incorporated into a non-profit organization and became NASCO.

NASCO is not a government agency. We have no authority to build or develop anything unilaterally. NASCO will work with our members, state Departments of Transportation and federal and local agencies involved in transportation, trade and security to accomplish our mission."

    "SuperCorridor & NAFTA Highway Defined

SuperCorridor - not "Super-sized". As defined in Webster's dictionary, "Super" means "more inclusive than a specialized category". NASCO uses the term "SuperCorridor" to demonstrate we are more than just a highway coalition. NASCO works to develop key relationships along the EXISTING corridors we represent to maximize economic development opportunities along the NASCO Corridor, as well as coordinate the development of technology integration projects, inland ports, environmental initiatives, university research, and the sharing of "best practices". NASCO is particularly focused on coordinating the efforts of local, state and federal agencies and the private sector to integrate and secure a multimodal transportation system along the existing "NASCO Corridor."

"NAFTA Superhighway" - As of late, there has been much media attention given to the "new, proposed NAFTA Superhighway". NASCO and the cities, counties, states and provinces along our existing Interstate Highways 35/29/94 (the NASCO Corridor) have been referring to I-35 as the 'NAFTA Superhighway' for many years, as I-35 already carries a substantial amount of international trade with Mexico, the United States and Canada. There are no plans to build a new NAFTA Superhighway - it exists today as I-35."

Eagle Forum is making things up.

"I don't care who wins (even Perry would be ok), as long as this toll road fiasco is ended."

The citizens of Texas voted overwhelmingly for tollroads in a constitutional amendment in 2001. I guess you don't much care about what the people want.

"Its just as easy to expand existing roads, and I-35. Add high speed rail to the major cities, and I suggest digging tunnels in around those major cities"

Do you have any idea how much this would cost? The price of real estate along I-35 is only exceeded by the cost of digging tunnels. Where will the money come from? TTC-35 is paid for up front by investors who recoup their money by sharing toll revenue paid by the users.

"In the affidavit, he promised to “use every legal means available to me by (the office of attorney general) to halt and/or invalidate the unconstitutional and illegal . . . Trans-Texas Corridor.”

Illegal? How can this guy be running for Attorney General? Perhaps he should read chapter 227 of the Texas Transportation Code entitled...Trans-Texas Corridor. You would think a lawyer would know how to read statutes...

"You're putting traffic lanes with high-speed rail and all the high fencing that goes with that, creating a barrier across Texas, dividing Texas everywhere it goes,” Stall said."

Just like those darn barriers I-35, I-45, I-10, I-20, and I-30. One of these days we will figure out how to get across those darn things.

"As a TEXAN, I just don't buy into the idea that a foreign government should be allowed to control a swath of land that runs through our state, robbing legitimate land owners of their property."

I am a TEXAN, too. But I don't think that a company - regardless of where they are based - that is investing billions of dollars in Texas should be dismissed so cavalierly. The only government controlling Texas land is the State of Texas. TxDOT will own the land and road just as with any other road - as required by Texas law.

Have you ever bought a Honda car, Toyota car, Sony tv, Dodge car, Samsung phone, or Nokia phone? Do you ever watch Fox news or drink Wild Turkey? All of those products are sold by foreign companies. I would assume that if you had purchased those products you did so because you felt they offerd you the best value. Were you afraid that the Fins would take over our country because you bought their Nokia phone or that the Aussies would control your thoughts because you watched Fox News? I doubt it. You got the value best for you - same as TxDOT. Cintra Zachry won a competition. Lets not confuse trade and investment with sovereignty.

Thanks for the advice. Perhaps your arguments would be better if you worked on your "facts" rather than resorting to ad hominem attacks.

Perhaps the corridor will go the way of that international boondoggle known as the wheel. Nothing ever came of that new fangled tool of the devil.

Maybe the corridor will be as unpopular as that albatross the interstate highway system.
