I want to find some software that will let me shut down internet access to my daughter's bedroom computer between eleven PM and eight AM, so she will get more sleep. Can anyone recommend software that will do this?

I am working at getting my Very Conservative and very dedicated daughter through college. She's been accepted at five of them, and is most interested in a Christian private college that has some steep financial costs. Can anyone recommend scholarships from conservative sources? I would think she would be the exception to the rule in college...she's been raised right, and rolls her eyes every time the President shows up on TV.

A quick quesition for our Tech Brigade…a week ago, I seriously misplaced my cell phone, as in, it’s 80% sure it is lost in my house, but the best of research yields nada. I went to the kiosk and AT&T issued me a new sim and deactivated the old one, so no one can use it and if I find the phone, I can insert the Sim and be back to normal.

Can anyone recommend some websites where I can download free patriotic music for the 4th? I'm guessing Susa, military marches, themes of the armed forces, that kind of thing?

For fun, I repair and upgrade old arcade machines using donated computer hardware, and it has finally happened...people are starting to give me XP machines to be recycled. I have always used Win98SE, so I am learning a lot.

I have been thinking, with the coming of this year's Christmas (not "Holiday" dang it!) cards that there oughtta be... A software package that lets you make PDF's or HTML pages of Christmas cards and Newsletters and ship them out to a preselected list of email addresses, and then tick them off as new ones come in to make sure you send to them next year. Anyone ever heard of something like this? Might be The Next Big Thing.

I probably won’t have enough posted to make this work, but here goes…I have a laptop I got from a now absent friend, and am playing with it to try out some things. It is a off-the rack Inspiron 5000e running XP, and was used for Email and netsurfing off a network line, although it has a modem card. I have AT&T wireless phone service through a blue-tooth enabled cell phone. I recently bought a Bluetooth dongle to try and connect the two. Can anyone remember...there are 2 files in Win98 that "remember" the drivers database. It was a trick in years past, that if you corrupted your drivers, you could "force" a rescan of the database by deleting these two. I though they ended in .idx and lived in the system folder, but I am hitting a dead wall and can't remember them.

Anybody...I have a donated PC I am making inmto an arcade machine, and it has somebody's old XP setup on it.

Recently, I added a DVD-burner to my XP-based PC with no problem at all. My brother, however, in imitation, has gotten one of those no-name with no-software DVD-burners for his Win98SE machine, and has discovered the off-the-shelf burning software he bought gags and dies. he has a very fast (well, it was a few months ago) PC with 500+ meg memory.

My mom, at about 87, is going into Hospice tonight. She has "outlived the hardware" and has had a wandering mind for the past few years, but it has come to a head in the past 9 months or so, after my parents decided to get her a new knee. We have discovered all kinds of things dad wasn't mentioning after this point...aparently her kidneys were on the way to failing before the knee, and we found out about the problem when they did and she went into regular dialysis. She has been frail and in a nursing home for...

She has been in and out of high fever for weeks, and they have decided it is Lupus. At the moment she's flirting with blindness, and at this moment they are taking her by ambulance to "the Cleveland Clinc", whatever that may be. A quick request, as I trust and value the prayers of all the saints on here...the daughter of one of my best friends is home sick from college with something they can't pin down. She is studying to be youth minister and as vibrant and wonderful as anybody you've ever met. Three weeks ago, she began running a 103 degree tempterature, and went in the hospital near Cleveland I think. Temp finally dropped but all her immunities are low' they've shipped her home to Cincinnat, but have "white roomed" her room at home, and in recent days she's gone back...
