Dan Wesson Firearms (finally) became part of the CZ family in 2005 when the company was acquired by CZ-USA. Unbeknownst to any of the parties involved in the 2005 transaction, a relationship between the two companies was initiated 37 years earlier. January 5th to August 21st 1968 is known to history as the Prague Spring. Many rights and freedoms restricted by the Soviets after World War II were returned to the citizens of Czechoslovakia during this brief season of change. It was also during this time period that an apparent agreement was made between ÄŒeská zbrojovka (CZ) and the...

A likely apocryphal story winds through the community changing in detail though not in punch line. In one telling, the situation occurs in the Germany of 1945 when Soviets and the US were allies and it had to do with a Tokarev. In another, a Russian defector was lecturing at the Commanding General War and Staff College, Ft Leavenworth. Finally, it was another Soviet absconder, this one at Ft. Benning, lecturing in small arms. In every story, an American officer called the Russian out about a firearm or a method of gun handling. "That's not safe," the officer says....

I like dictionaries. I have an assortment of them on my desk, several scattered around the house, and one on my bedside table. Dictionaries, and I'm talking about real ones, the older the better, are essential to learning any combative art, especially firearms. "Practice," is marked in my dictionary. A practice is a habitual action or performance. Make it a practice to maintain visual contact with your environment, looking for any potential problems. You practice various combative skills until you can perform those actions under any type conditions and without conscious thought. You practice reloading your pistol until it becomes...

Madison - Wisconsin stands on the verge of becoming the 49th state in the country to allow citizens to carry concealed guns, after the state Assembly voted to legalize that practice Tuesday. The measure passed 68-27 on a solid bipartisan margin. The approval of the bill marks one more piece of long-blocked legislation that Republicans have been able to pass now that they control all of state government. The bill to allow the concealed carry of guns and other weapons like Tasers passed the Senate on a bipartisan vote last week, so approval in the Assembly sends the bill to...

If you know both yourself and your enemy, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss. – Sun Tzu It takes a while to digest monumental events, like the election of Scott Brown as the new Republican senator from Massachusetts last night. Initial responses are interesting because of the way they illuminate character. The Obama Administration has finally produced a shovel-ready job, as liberal spin doctors will spend the next few weeks burying the embarrassing performance of Democrats and their media allies from last night through this morning. Americans are harder workers, more philanthropic, individualistic, self-reliant, anti-government than people in most other countries. We've turned what was an 18th-century Third World nation into the freest and most prosperous nation in mankind's entire history. Throughout our history, the United States has been a magnet for immigrants around the world. What accounts for what some have called American exceptionalism? We Americans, as human beings, are no different from any other people, including Germans, Russians, Chinese, Africans and other people who have produced tyrannical regimes such as those of Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Idi Amin. As such we are just as...

Will PETA be the next ACORN? Conservative blogs and websites have been working to uncover a scandal at PETA which has the potential to destroy the credibility of the radical animal-rights organization. For example, at BigGovernment.com, Mary Grabar has written an expose on the organization. As she notes, (PETA's) strategies come "straight out of Saul Alinksky's Rules for Radicals." Alinsky's strategies, adopted by various "social justice" groups, (most notoriously ACORN) include public ridicule, loud and shocking protests, the undermining of reform efforts already underway, and "behind-the-scenes" pressures. Consecutively, PETA employs more subtle methods by providing consumers alternatives on its web...

The question is being asked at dinner tables and water coolers throughout Wisconsin: Why would those union workers at Mercury Marine's Fond du Lac plant vote against the company's last contract proposal? Why, indeed. At first glance, the consensus rejection by members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) Local 1947 on Sunday makes no sense. The company had flat-out threatened to leave Wisconsin for Stillwater, Okla., unless the Fond du Lac workers bent over and took substantial cuts in pay and benefits. So, why would the Fondy workers cut their own throats? Isn't a job with...

Hamas raked in $800 million from Gaza residents who invested in smuggling tunnels but lost most of their money to the ruling terrorist organization, Fatah has charged. The Palestine Media Center, a branch of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), accused the terrorist organization of forcing contributors to sign documents stating that they received all of their money although Hamas retuned only 16 percent of the funds. The document also includes a pledge that the investors will not sue.

You know you are doing something right when two prominent politicians driven from public office come out in favor of gun control in the same week. After resigning from the governorship of New York in shame and spending months out of the public eye, Eliot Spitzer (D) has decided to launch a campaign to rehabilitate himself by giving unsolicited gun control advice to President Barack Obama. Yes, this is the same Eliot Spitzer who, after railing against the "unregulated" firearm industry as New York's Attorney General, was driven from public office when caught spending $4,300 on a member of the...

Beginning today, WND will feature weekly exclusive video commentary from legendary comedian Jackie Mason. While Mason regularly posts videos on YouTube, the Thursday offerings of his "The Ultimate Jew" monologues will be initially available only at WorldNetDaily. The new commentaries represent an expanded role for Mason at WND; he and colleague Raoul Felder have written periodic columns for the news site since 2007. (direct link to video downthread)

As Beijing announced yet another double-digit increase in defense spending, a U.S. congressional panel Wednesday heard expert testimony on China’s military buildup and activities, including the significant and unprecedented naval mission in the Gulf of Aden region. ------------------ snip ------------------ Li, a former foreign minister, denied that real defense spending was much higher, saying “there is no such thing as so-called hidden military expenditure in China.”

Fantastic post by "Hogan" on RedState.com against the pseudo-Republicans who went after Rush Limbaugh and his speech at CPAC last Saturday... Also, you can listen to an on-air debate between Mark Levin and David Frum by clicking here.

In what pro-life activists hope will become a tool to fight the pro-abortion agenda of Democratic President Barack Obama, State Rep. Dan Ruby introduced “The Personhood of Children Act” into the North Dakota Legislature earlier this month. The act reads, in part, “The state shall afford the equality and inherent rights guaranteed to individuals in section 1 of article 1 of the Constitution of North Dakota to all human beings from the beginning of their biological development, including the pre-born, partially born…

A petition by the Democratic National Congressional Committee critical of Rush Limbaugh is backfiring as supporters of the talk radio icon pummel the party website with their own views. Hundreds of people have signed the petition, which is introduced with the request to "Stand strong against Rush Limbaugh's Attacks – sign our petition, telling Rush what you think of his attacks on President Obama."
