Sam Brownback wants Congress to apologize to American Indians for the egregious federal actions committed against them, while a freshman House member wants the same courtesy extended to black Americans. Senator John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years. He said Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (news - bio) will be remembered as one of the worst to ever hold the job. He said the United States is paying a heavy price for the mismanagement. He said Rumsfeld never put enough troops on the ground to succeed in Iraq. Former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating and former Texas Senator Phil Gramm were at his side. Both endorsed McCain over the weekend.

There is yet another reason to send Lincoln Chafee into retirement this year. In light of the recent attacks on Israel it is important to point out a little known fact about Senator Chafee. Aside from being the only Republican to oppose Bush's reelection, the Iraq war, and the nomination of Justice Alito, Chafee also holds the distinction of being the only Republican Senator who is pro Palestinian.
