The Obama White House is drawing ridicule for appending the official online biographies of nearly every president over the last century in order to link President Obama's accomplishments to the former commanders in chief. The Obama team went into the pages of U.S. presidents dating back to Calvin Coolidge to add friendly looking "Did you know?" fact boxes to the end of their bios. Those additions were used to plug a host of Obama administration initiatives, ranging from the health care overhaul to the so-called "Buffett Rule" to his green-energy policies. For instance, the following line was added to the...

For those who didn't hear, an unidentified man was rushed from the White House yesterday in an ambulance. He was expected to lose one or two fingers in a detail-free amputation. The White House immediately tried to downplay the incident without giving any additional information. They insisted that "the injury was minor and an ambulance was called out of an abundance of caution." Only an "abundance of caution" necessitated the ambulance for the amputation of two fingers? I guess Lefty was pretty low on the WH totem pole. That's it. As far as I know, that is the end of...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: It's not just the milling around stage of the Occupy Wall Street day of action. It's the milling around stage while the media tries to find a way to pin the Tea Party on this shooter at the White House. They're trying to find out who this guy is, said he never had any known radical ties. Really? What's he doing at Occupy DC? They're doing everything they can. It was once reported the guy hated Obama but now he just hates government. And they're doing everything they can to try to find a way to pin...

ABC News has learned authorities are increasingly concerned that a man sought in connection with a bizarre shooting incident on the Washington Mall last week may pose a threat to President Obama. The Secret Service now suspects that a bullet fired in this incident may have hit the White House after a bullet round was found in a White House window, though the round had not yet been conclusively linked to the incident. Police believe the suspect, Oscar Ramiro Ortega of Idaho Falls, is mentally ill. Local News 8 broke Ortega's connection to Idaho Falls on Sunday night. Ortega has...

It is a huge hole in one of the world's most famous gardens - but nobody knows what it is for. Workmen have torn up an enormous section of the lawn in front of the White House for a mysterious, top secret project. Official explanations have ranged from an update of the air conditioning system to something 'security' related. But that has not stopped speculation that the President is installing something else entirely - from a swimming pool to a spa.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A homeless man was in custody Tuesday night after climbing over the White House fence, the Secret Service said. The man was immediately captured by uniformed Secret Service agents, who guard the complex around the clock, said agency spokesman Ed Donovan. He had a backpack that Donovan said was being examined for possible explosive material. The suspect, identified as James Dirk Crudup, 41, was being transferred to District of Columbia police for processing. He faces charges of unlawful entry and contempt of court for violating an order to stay away from the White House, Donovan said. A...

Late last year, President Obama put a delicate question to the highest-ranking women on his staff at a private White House dinner: Should he be worried about a nagging perception that his administration was a testosterone-fueled boys' club? The dinner led to the formation of an informal group of women at the White House - a women's club of sorts - to help female aides navigate the upper echelons of the administration. The boys' club story line had been around since the days of the Obama presidential campaign, which was run by a tight inner circle of mostly male advisers,...

The Obama administration announced on Tuesday it has reserved 3,000 free tickets to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll for students in D.C.-area public and charter schools, but not for children who attend private or parochial schools. Why exclude children in private and parochial schools, asked the father of a parochial school student at Tuesday’s press conference where U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan and District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty announced the ticket giveaway. “These tickets are from the White House to public schools, and we’re appreciative, but there may be other things unrelated to this press conference,” Fenty...

Is the real reason White House social secretary Desiree Rogers was stripped of her power and "pushed" to resign that she was stealing the thunder of first lady Michelle Obama and first friend Valerie Jarrett? You bet. White House social secretary Desiree Rogers says she will step down next month, after presiding over 330 events in the White House in 14 months. Rogers, a friend of President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama, is part of a high-profile group of Chicagoans in the Obama White House. • It was Desiree who publicly corrected Michelle Obama in front of White House...

Prominent Democratic Party fundraiser Julianna Smoot will replace Desiree Rogers as social secretary, the White House announced today in a statement. Rogers had taken heat after the White House’s first state dinner was marred by the appearance of several gate-crashers who managed to elude the Secret Service and sneak into the exclusive gathering. Reports Fox, with some background on Smoot: Smoot served as national finance director for Obama’s presidential campaign, helping raise $32.5 million during one quarter in 2007. She has also served as finance director for then-Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle and John Edwards’ successful Senate bid in 1998....

An Obama administration official tells ABC News that the leading candidate to replace Desiree Rogers as White House Social Secretary is Julianna Smoot. Smoot, currently the chief of staff for U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, was the national finance director for the 2008 presidential campaign of then-Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., where she headed a record-setting fundraising operation. Before joining Kirk’s office, Smoot was a senior adviser to President Obama and co-chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee. She is a veteran to Democratic fundraising, having previously served as the national finance director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. She was the...

WASHINGTON -- On an otherwise quiet Saturday at the White House, there was quite a sight along the driveway: the careful unearthing of two trees to make way for some construction underneath the front lawn. People walking along Pennsylvania Avenue saw two enormous cranes stationed just outside the West Wing. One crane lifted away a sugar maple tree that had been planted by President Ronald Reagan in 1984. And then a large linden tree, planted by the National Park Service in 1979, was also hauled out of the ground.

Given the plight of so many unemployed Americans, President Obama did not want to spend a lot of money on a lavish redecoration of the Oval Office. But he did want to make it his own. So Obama asked California decorator Michael Smith to work with him to change the look of the Oval Office to better reflect his interests. Now, the Associated Press has had a tour of the makeover. The changes are striking.
