Americans will need to cut their average consumption of beef by about 40% and Europeans by 22%, for the world to continue to feed the 10 billion people expected to live on this planet in 2050, according to a new report. That means each person could have about a burger and a half each week. This calculation comes from the World Resources Institute, a global research nonprofit that supports better use of natural resources to sustain a growing population. Its research looks at agriculture, the climate crisis, poverty and gender, among other topics. Its final "Creating a Sustainable Food Future"...

The gang, from Direct Action Everywhere, flashed anti-meat eating signs with "It's not food, it's violence" emblazoned on them and barked out a speech at the Touro Steakhouse in Brighton. But after barging through the restaurant they were ordered to leave with jeering diners chanting “you’re not singing anymore” as they were marched out. Footage of the demonstration begins with the person filming saying: “This smells horrible, look at all the flesh.” But as a spokeswoman attempts to give a speech about the benefits of veganism, patrons can be heard mocking her with one mimicking a cow mooing while waiters...

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes has apparently been updated to Attack of the Killer Hamburgers. Yes, this is the latest liberal Chicken Little Global Warming iteration of the End of Times. This time it is hamburgers, not tomatoes, that are going to kill us. The funniest thing about this warning is the earnestness with which it was made by CNN's Philip Mudd on Monday's New Day with nary a smile on his humorless face.

Currently, Argentina uses up more than half of the 45,000 metric tons of high-end beef the EU can import yearly at a zero tariff rate. The U.S. and Canada had exported a total of 2,351.37 tons to the European Union this year by the end of July, according to the commission, the EU’s executive arm. That marks a considerable increase compared with the previous two years, when the U.S. and Canada combined exported fewer than 500 tons a year. The negotiations would discuss earmarking as much as 35,000 tons of that quota for U.S. producers, according to an EU diplomat...

Who doesn't love a juicy burger? About 5,000 Americans. And not from dietary preference, but because a single bite could cause hives, shortness of breath, or even death. It's not something they were born with, it's something their body was taught to reject, by an uninvited little wilderness hitchhiker. The following is a transcript of the video. Imagine that you're a red-blooded carnivore. You love burgers, steak, pork chops, bacon. But one day, out of nowhere, red meat starts to make you physically sick to the stomach. It sounds like science fiction, but it's real, and it's spreading. It's spreading...

A new report issued by the Environmental Working Group calculates the carbon footprint of meats, cheeses, and a smattering of other foods. Special shout-out to those of you who eat baby sheep: You suck! Lamb is the single most carbon-intensive meat, .. (beef 2nd) Cheese comes out ahead of pork, farmed salmon, chicken and canned tuna. .. What it means, in practical terms: -Eating one less burger a week, is like driving 320...

In a footnote on page 1 and again on page 8 of its third quarter earnings release The Walt Disney Company makes note of a $177 million charge affecting its earnings. After 5 years of pre-trial, the case went before a South Dakota judge in early June. It...

To get protesters to leave the Local Butcher Shop alone, the Berkeley meat market’s owners agreed to promote an animal rights message. Now, in the upper left corner of one of the store’s front windows, there’s a 15-inch-by-15-inch sign. In white letters on a black background, it reads: “Attention: Animals’ lives are their right. Killing them is violent and unjust, no matter how it’s done.” In exchange for putting up the sign, Direct Action Everywhere, an animal rights group, agreed to protest at the store only twice a year.

During his Senate hearing to be confirmed as ambassador to China, then-Gov. Terry Branstad said he would prefer to serve Iowa beef — not cuts from Australia — at the U.S. Embassy there. He won’t get that wish yet, but the prime rib he slices into Friday when joined in Beijing by U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Chinese government officials to ceremonially mark the return of U.S. beef to China after a 14-year ban will be from closer to home — Nebraska. Branstad: Work to open Chinese market to U.S. beef exports Trump calls for rural internet...

"Although international trade is an important part of what we do at USDA, and Brazil has long been...
