Full Title..........................Coroner grants request from Otto Warmbier's family NOT to perform autopsy on the student who died after being held captive in North Korea for 17 month - as US government calls for three more Americans to be freed.........................An autopsy will not be performed on Otto Warmbier's body, after a coroner granted his family's request not to do so. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office released a statement Tuesday after conferring with doctors at the Cincinnati hospital where the 22-year-old student died just days after he was returned from North Korea. Warmbier had been held captive in the country for 17...
  • In an Unexplained Case, Brain Activity Has Been Recorded as Much as 10 Minutes After Death

Doctors in a Canadian intensive care unit have stumbled on a very strange case - when life support was turned off for four terminal patients, one of them showed persistent brain activity even after they were declared clinically dead. For more than 10 minutes after doctors confirmed death through a range of observations, including the absence of a pulse and unreactive pupils, the patient appeared to experience the same kind of brain waves (delta wave bursts) we get during deep sleep. And it's an entirely different phenomenon to the sudden 'death wave' that's been observed in rats following decapitation. "In...

When my husband called and told me the news that Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia had died, the first question that came out of my mouth was, "Where?" "Texas," he said. "Oh no." That reply did not surprise him. I have been called to testify as a forensic pathology expert in many legal cases in Texas. I know about the laws that govern death investigation in that state. It came as no surprise to me that Justice Scalia, found cold and pulseless in bed with a pillow "over his head," was declared dead of natural causes without an autopsy being...

Veteran homicide investigators in New York and Washington, DC, on Monday questioned the way local and federal authorities in Texas handled the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. "It's not unreasonable to ask for an autopsy in this case, particularly knowing who he is," retired Brooklyn homicide Detective Patricia Tufo told The Post. "He's not at home. There are no witnesses to his death, and there was no reported explanation for why a pillow is over his head," Tufo said. "So I think under the circumstances it's not unreasonable to request an autopsy. Despite the fact that he has...

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has died, deeply mourned by his friends and admirers, while liberals are happily celebrating his demise (in their usual indecent fashion). La Raza, radical environmentalists, and the affirmative action establishment are celebrating today. Scalia's sudden death leaves a 4-4 split on the Court, neutralizing the power of the Court until a ninth justice is confirmed. But Obama might try to make a recess appointment, thereby sabotaging the Senate's advice and consent role. He has already done that with the fraud-filled Iranian nuclear surrender "treaty." [SNIP] Justice Scalia's sudden passing may have been due to natural...

"Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia would be found dead of apparent natural causes. Presidio County Judge Cinderela Guevara acknowledged that she pronounced Scalia dead by phone, without seeing his body. We discovered the judge in bed, a pillow over his head. His bed clothes were unwrinkled," said Poindexter. A pillow over his head does not sound like natural. And who pronounces a Supreme Court Justice dead over the phone. Or anyone, for that matter.

An Italian minister says a second autopsy on the body of an Italian found slain in Egypt reveals that the doctoral student suffered "inhuman, animal-like" violence. Official results, still partial, are being relayed to Rome prosecutors who are investigating Giulio Regeni's death as a murder. Italian media, reporting on the autopsy completed Saturday night after the body arrived in Rome, say coroners have concluded that Regeni's neck was twisted or struck, breaking a vertebra and leaving him unable to breathe.

Since last year, when her husband died unexpectedly in a Davidson County hospital, Francine Braun Wolberg’s grief has given way to anger over the long wait for answers. Her husband suffered from early onset Alzheimer’s, but he was otherwise healthy before going to the Thomasville Medical Center for mental health treatment. State Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Deborah Radisch performed an autopsy in Raleigh on June 12, 2014, the day after he died. But months later, there was still no death certificate listing the cause of death. That meant that Wolberg couldn’t collect survivor’s annuity payments needed to pay college tuition...
  • Baltimore: Freddie Gray Autopsy Report Deals Blow to Murder Charges

Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby has withheld the autopsy report on Freddie Gray from defense counsel and the public for nearly two months. It is the report on which she relied to file murder and other charges against six police officers, even though the investigation into Mr. Gray’s death was not close to being complete. Now, just two days before Friday’s court deadline for the state to disclose the report to the defense, it has been leaked to the Baltimore Sun. The Sun’s story makes it easier to understand why Ms. Mosby wanted the autopsy kept under wraps. It raises additional...

Freddie Gray suffered a single "high-energy injury" — like those seen in shallow-water diving incidents — most likely caused when the police van in which he was riding suddenly decelerated, according to a copy of the autopsy report obtained by The Baltimore Sun. The state medical examiner's office concluded that Gray's death could not be ruled an accident, and was instead a homicide, because officers failed to follow safety procedures "through acts of omission." Though Gray was loaded into the van on his belly, the medical examiner surmised that he may have gotten to his feet and was thrown into...

The story coming to us out of Baltimore in the wake of the death of Freddie Gray just gets stranger and stranger. Once State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby had brought a gaggle of charges against the six police officers involved in the incident, the defense immediately moved to have her removed from the case over possible conflict of interest issues. Since that time, Mosby’s office seems to have gone into a circle the wagons mentality and has been pushing back against both the police and the media. That pattern took an even more curious turn this week when the autopsy...

Post-mortem of Alexander Litvinenko's radioactive body was 'one of the most dangerous ever undertaken in the western world' as inquiry hears it was the only case of polonium poisoning ever recorded The post-mortem examination of poisoned spy Alexander Litvinenko was one of the most dangerous ever held because his body was so radioactive, an inquiry was told today. Doctors who carried out the procedure had to wear special suits, protective gloves and hoods to prevent them being contaminated, the hearing was told. The public inquiry into Mr Litvinenko's death also heard how the Russian dissident, 43, spent three weeks in...

A pro-life group in Illinois has placed an abortion autopsy image depicting a woman killed from legal abortion on a poster they hold outside a local abortion facility. The picture comes from the national pro-life organization, Life Dynamics, Inc. which has uploaded it to the website SafeandLegal.com. In addition to the autopsy image, the page documents hundreds of deaths of women killed from legal abortion and highlights the abortion-related deaths of 18-year-old Marla Cardamone and 24-year-old Tonya Reaves as well as their unborn children. Readers may not know Shawn Parcells’ name, but those who have followed the Michael Brown case know his work. Parcells worked with the Brown family and pathologist Michael Baden on a private autopsy, the results of which Parcells claimed demonstrated that Brown had been (a) shot in the back and (b) shot with his hands in the air in a position of surrender. Both claims were later discredited by the official autopsy and witness accounts to the grand jury that heard the case, but not before the claims made by Parcells on a number of news shows fueled protests...

Probe widens from the health department investigation. The New York Police Department is investigating Joan Rivers' death, a police source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday. The 81-year-old comedian passed away on Thursday after being taken off life support. The previous week, she had entered Yorkville Endoscopy for a routine procedure on her throat when she reportedly suffered cardiac arrest. She was admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan later that same day. "Yes, NYPD is investigating," the police source told THR. "We investigate all such deaths, meaning 'not by natural causes.' Although it might end up being ruled natural...

During the first autopsy after all the far tests and initial examination for trace evidence the body is washed including the bullet wound areas. The second autopsy is is only done after the first autopsy is completed and the body is released to the family. The second autopsy claims no far was found on the body. My question is would the washing of the body done in the first autopsy as well as other procedures remove the far trace. If so the claim the was no far by the Brown family team would be misleading at best.
