Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg said Thursday that he was unaware when he said "all lives matter" in 2015 that the phrase was being used to undercut the Black Lives Matter movement. Buttigieg spoke about his past comment after a speech at the National Action Network, a politically powerful organization founded by Rev. Al Sharpton. The phrase "all lives matter" has been used by critics of the Black Lives Matter movement to push back on the view that closer attention needs to be paid to the deaths of African American men and women at the hand of law enforcement.

Remorse for doing his job in 1991 is neither necessary nor likely to get him off the hook for being an old white male politician. After 27 years, Anita Hill is still waiting for a personal apology from Joe Biden. Apparently, the former vice president has yet to reach out for a private tête-à-tête with the law professor who accused Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during his confirmation hearings. But while Biden hasn’t been able to pick up the phone to talk to her about events from the fall of 1991, he understands that his connection to...

After facing an onslaught of intense backlash and severe scrutiny, singer Barbra Streisand is "profoundly sorry" for saying that pop icon Michael Jackson's alleged serial molestation of children was simply the satisfaction of "sexual needs" that ultimately brought little to no harm to his victims.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) on Tuesday apologized for previously identifying as Native American. Warren, who apologized recently to the Cherokee Nation for a DNA test showing that she had Native American ancestry, told The Washington Post that the apology was meant to include identifying herself as Native American while at a professor at Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania. "I told him I was sorry for furthering confusion about tribal citizenship,” Warren told the Post. “I am also sorry for not being more mindful about this decades ago. We had a good conversation.” Her apology comes hours before President...

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis newscaster has apologized for what he called an unintentional racial slur while referencing Martin Luther King Jr., nearly two weeks after the same phrase cost another broadcaster his job. KTVI-TV's Kevin Steincross said during a Thursday morning broadcast that an upcoming tribute would honor "Martin Luther Coon Jr." Steincross apologized during a later broadcast, saying he has "total respect for Dr. King, what he meant and what he continues to mean to our country." KTVI says managers spoke with Steincross and believe the phrase was inadvertent and not reflective of his "core beliefs." Vice...

Pelosi wrote: The U.S. Secret Service was designated as the lead federal agency responsible for coordinating, planning, exercising, and implementing security for National Special Security Events. However, both the U.S. Secret Service and the Department of Homeland Security [DHS] have not been funded for 26 days now — with critical departments hamstrung by furloughs. Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress...

When you apologize for using a term that you yourself call "vulgar, crass and offensive," wouldn't you include in your apology the person against whom you used it? Apparently not, if you're Mika Brzezinski, and the person you insulted is a prominent conservative. Returning to Morning Joe today after a day off for "a family matter," Mika Brzezinski apologized for having on Wednesday's show called Secretary of State Mike Pompeo a "butt boy." NewsBusters editor Scott Whitlock reported the slur here. But whereas Brzezinski apologized "especially to the LGBT community" and to her colleagues, she didn't apologize . . ....

An emotional Megyn Kelly began her program Wednesday morning by reading a prepared apology for her comments the previous day defending blackface Halloween costumes. “I’m Megyn Kelly. And I want to begin with two words — I’m sorry,” the Megyn Kelly Today host said as she fought back tears. “You may have heard that yesterday we had a discussion here about political correctness and Halloween costumes, and that conversation turned to whether it is ever okay for a person of one race to dress up as another — a black person making their face lighter or a white person making...

For many years people have asked whether I still agree with my book I Kissed Dating Goodbye. In addition to this question, some readers have told me the book harmed them. Two years ago I began a process of re-evaluating the book. This included inviting people to share their stories with me on my website, personal phone calls with readers, an in-depth study of issues surrounding my book overseen by one of my graduate school professors, and finally, creating a documentary film that captured the conversations with people who were reshaping my thinking. For me, it’s been important for this...

A descendant of Pocahontas, the 17th-century Powhatan princess, said Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) needs to apologize for claiming to be Native American for political gain. Appearing on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Debbie White Dove Porreco said she was glad the Massachusetts Democrat finally took the DNA test, which she urged her to do back in May. "It did prove that she wasn't the Cherokee Indian that she was claiming to be for so long," Porreco said on the program Tuesday. "I think she's guilty of claiming she's an American Indian but has no proof -- and then [is] using it for...

Scott Kelly is a NASA astronaut.  That says a lot about him right there.  To be selected as an astronaut, you must be the best of the best – smart, fearless, and psychologically sound. So why does Kelly sound like an idiot here? Washington Examiner: Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times." "Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill.  My apologies.  I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I...

WASHINGTON (WJLA) - A popular Washington, D.C., restaurant and bar has apologized for promoting bottomless mimosas for patrons watching Thursday's Christine Blasey Ford-Brett Kavanaugh hearings on Capitol Hill. Shaw's Tavern wrote in a statement on social media that offering the special was an "oversight" as Ford testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee about an alleged incident in which Kavanaugh – President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee – sexually assaulted her at a home in the early 1980s in Montgomery County, Maryland. As part of her testimony, Ford has accused Kavanaugh of being "inebriated" at the time of the...

Many of us wondered what the usually reliable Ed Whelan had up his sleeve the last few days, as he hinted that information would emerge that would force Dianne Feinstein to apologize to Brett Kavanaugh. Last night, as John reported, Whelan finally delivered — with a speculative and unsubstantiated theory of mistaken identity. More shockingly, Whelan named the person who might have conducted an assault on Christine Blasey Ford, without any evidence or corroboration. After reading it myself, I thought: Ed must have something more than this, right? As it turns out … nope. This morning, Whelan deleted the tweets...

DETROIT — The bishop who officiated Aretha Franklin’s funeral apologized Friday to Ariana Grande for how he touched her onstage and a joke he made about her name. Bishop Charles H. Ellis III led Franklin’s funeral and awkwardly greeted Grande on stage after she performed “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” Images of the moment showed Ellis’ hand holding Grande well above her waist, with his fingers pressing against one side of her chest. The preacher apologized in an interview with The Associated Press at the cemetery where Franklin was interred late Friday.

Fordham University professor Christina Greer came under fire and subsequently apologized for minimizing the tragedy surrounding Mollie Tibbetts’ death during an appearance on MSNBC. Fordham University Professor Christina Greer said that Mollie Tibbetts was “just a girl in Iowa” during a segment on MSNBC this week. Tibbetts was murdered in July allegedly by an illegal alien who had been living in the United States for four to seven years. “But Fox News is talking about a girl in Iowa and not this, right?” she added. After a backlash against Greer erupted on social media, she turned to blaming “right wing...
