Saddam and Kim Jong-il's allies organise 'anti-war' rallies Gerard Jackson Melbourne: Australia BrookesNews.Com Saturday 15 Feb. 2003 Public luminaries like Brown, Anglican Archbishop of Melbourne Peter Watson Laurie Brereton and Green Senator Bob Brown, Democrat Senator Natasha Stott Despoja gave, with the support of leftwing union activists like Ron Hubbard and Martin Kingham, their ardent support to anti-American rallies dressed up as 'anti-war' rallies. The Archbishop, along with Bob Brown, Laurie Brereton made their alleged feelings known when they addressed the crowds. What they and the other speakers did not reveal is that these rallies were organised by a dedicated...

A FREEPER lost Among RED WOLVES["freeper" - www.freerepublic.com] By Anthony Catalano AGE 43 - Bay Ridge Brooklyn NYC - acatalan@pipeline.com [I apologize about some of the vile words contained below - they are that of the protestors for it is their main mode of discourse] The Design.I had prepared my 20x30 placard sign during the week that ended with Valentine's Day. On it a full-sized American Flag with a handsome characature of George "W" dressed as Uncle Sam with his sleeves up, large-fists clenched and ready for war was captioned, "OPERATION UNFETTERED ACCESS'. On the reverse was taped a hodge-podge...

The group (A.N.S.W.E.R) is organizing a protest at the White House on Saturday, March 1st. They are calling it the "Emergency Convergence at the White House". I have linked their release (do not want to take up space by posting their garbage) regarding their protest, in the hope that the D.C. chapter of FR will take note and prepare accordingly. We need to show support for President Bush and our troops.

Some Alienated Some demonstrators, particularly Jewish dissenters who oppose the war but support Israel, have been alienated by the virulently anti-American and anti-Israeli rhetoric of groups such as the radical Workers World Party, a key member of the International A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition that organized the big Oct. 26 and Jan. 18 demonstrations. Workers World, which follows a Stalinist political line, supports Saddam Hussein and calls for the elimination of Israel as a Jewish state. Signs of this friction were evident this week when a Bay Area rabbi and magazine editor, Michael Lerner, complained that anti-Israeli factions in the movement had blocked...

As most of us know, the anti-war group is usually tied up with the group ANSWER, an arm of the International Action Center which is itself an arm of the World Workers Party. In short, Commies. One peek at the ANSWER webpage (shower shortly afterwards) reveals that their group is comprised of all sorts of wacko fringe groups which embrace dictators, thugs, terrorists and cop murderers. Most of the media either hides this intentionally, or is unaware of the link (HAH). Many of the marchers (being clueless generally) don't know or don't care, but they also don't publize it and...

Today the Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com CounterFreeped the Saddam Sympathizer Peacenik Protest organized by the A.N.S.W.E.R(Socialists) Klan. They had several thousands(they claimed 10K, but I doubt it was that large). To say the least, we were a bit outnumbered. The peaceniks disgraced the south steps of our beautiful State Capitol. I arrived with my son(hopefully youcan guess his name) overloaded with signs and hoping to have help holding them. After making the 5 block trek from the first parking spot we found, we approached our usual counterprotest spot on the west side of the thru-street only to find...

Last night while working and driving through Baltimore City in the Lower Park Heights Area I came across several telephone, street, and red light poles with bright yellow notices on them. Wondering what they were I pulled over, got out of the company car, and walked over to read one. The first goes stop Bush's Racist War...Money for Jobs Health Care and Education. Rally March 1st in Washington DC catch the bus and community meeting on Feb. 22nd. The second read it is about economics, wealth, and money for the poor now. Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield the real axis of evil. Now for...

The Chicagoland Chapter had a successful Anti-antiwar protest in the Lincolnwood area of North Chicago. Attendees were Chicagolady, GRRRRR, Chi-Town Chief, BillyBoy, RedWing9, justshutupandtakeit and son. BillyBoy, Chicagolady and myself arrived at the corner of Western and Devon around 12:15. GRRRRR and Chi-Town Chief had already laid claim to the corner flying the American Flag and egging-on the 'Saddam Fan Club' of 'Useful Idiots.' justhshutupandtakeit and his son came soon after that, yelling comments from across the street like 'We love Saddam'. We were located about 4 blocks west of the protest gathering but right along their planned march. Their...

Marching orders The press reveals its convictions in coverage of war and abortion ralliesBy Tim GrahamIt's not often that the nation's capital witnesses two major rallies within four days of each other. On Jan. 18, opponents of a U.S. war against Iraq drew tens of thousands to the national mall to protest. Four days later, another crowd of tens of thousands congregated for the annual March for Life to mourn the 30th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion on demand. The "peace" rally was mostly angry, with podium speakers lamenting the supposedly destructive impact of the...

I realize the organizers of the "possibly 10 million anti-war protestors" are the usual suspects, er, socialists, but I wonder if FReepers keep tabs on any of the groups listed below? Thanks for your help. United for Peace & Justice is a new national campaign that brings together a broad range of organizations throughout the United States to help coordinate our work against a U.S. war on Iraq. At an initial meeting in Washington, DC on October 25, more than 70 peace and justice organizations agreed to form United for Peace & Justice and signed on to the following statement:...

There is not a single political issue today that has one unified opinion. Our great democracy allows for the diversity of opinion. Without this diversity, our democracy would not exist. The current nationwide "leadership" heading up the Anti-War on Iraq "movement", I am sorry to say, cannot be considered the "other side," simply because it adopted this antiwar on Iraq stance, due to its long rooted hate of our country, our democracy, and our freedom. Ironically, it is some of that same freedom which allows them to "protest" in the first place. This group includes major elements of the Communist/Socialist...

SAN FRANCISCO -- Imagine my surprise when I found out that I am banned from speaking at a peace rally here this Sunday. As editor of Tikkun, the largest-circulation liberal Jewish magazine in the world, I have been an outspoken critic of the proposed war in Iraq. I have also unequivocally condemned Saddam Hussein's brutality and called for the world community to bring him to justice for crimes against humanity. But we at Tikkun do not believe that this war -- in which thousands of Iraqi civilians are likely to die -- will bring democracy to the Middle East. Instead, it is bound to increase the threat of terrorism to American citizens and provoke more violence. It will also fuel American fantasies of world economic and political domination.

In the last few days, a flurry of activity has erupted among the anti-war movement. The pro-Saddam, pro-North Korean, pro-Pol Pot organization behind most of the big anti-war demos, ANSWER, has banned Rabbi Michael Lerner from speaking at the San Francisco demonstration this Sunday. Why? Because he's pro-Israel. Lerner's supporters are rightly incensed about this smear. How can such a man be regarded as pro-Israel? A group of largely Jewish writers, intellectuals, poets and other publicity-seekers argue, furiously, that he cannot be called pro-Israel: "Rabbi Lerner has been an outspoken critic of Israeli policy in the occupied territories, has endorsed...

Antiwar actions have been organized for the weekend of February 15 and 16, to coincide with protests around the world. In the United States, the main events will be demonstrations held in New York and San Francisco. This could be the last chance the antiwar warriors have before the cruise missiles fly. Yet the peaceniks pulling together the San Francisco march and rally may have tainted their efforts by allowing the banning of Rabbi Michael Lerner as a speaker. ... "This is about the suppressing of dissent among the dissenters," Lerner asserts. "My progressive Jewish allies said, 'Don't raise this...

The following letters are being circulated by Marc Cooper of The Nation and by Tikkun Magazine, respectively. Rabbi Michael Lerner has been banned from speaking at the antiwar rally in San Francisco this Sunday, February 15. One of the rally organizers, Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER), has stated that it will not allow a "pro-Israel" speaker to take the stage -- despite the fact that Rabbi Lerner has been an outspoken critic of Israeli policy in the occupied territories, has endorsed ANSWER's antiwar rallies in the past, has signed the Not in Our Name petition against...

Get on the Bus For one fellow traveler, the road to an anti-war protest in Washington is paved with good intentions and bad politics By Mark Donald It's hard to know how to dress for the peace protest in Washington, D.C.: warm gloves, ski parka, sensible shoes, a gas mask. My wife has unwittingly packed some snacks into a Gap bag. I repackage them in a Whole Foods sack, unwilling to risk the ire of anti-globalization types who might think I am...

Less than two weeks ago on the National Mall beneath the Capitol, thousands took part in a demonstration against the impending U.S invasion of Iraq. About 150 Georgetown students were there, but just how many protesters attended in total depended on who you asked. At 1 p.m. on a clear day where the wind chill hovered around 10 degrees, many had already begun to leave the Mall on a planned march to the Navy Yard in Southeast Washington. That's when Rev. Lucious Walker, took the stage. "There must be half a million people here," he shouted to cheers from the...

I'm a lefty. But lately, instead of inspiring me, the left keeps making me feel awful about the world.

My latest lefty-awful moment happened on Martin Luther King Day last week, as I turned on an MPR call-in show. The subject was the peace movement, and host Katherine Lanpher's guest was New York-based professor of sociology and commentator Todd Gitlin.
