Katie Grant: Let’s cut to the chase: blades must be banned As you walked down the street this morning to buy this paper, did you stop to wonder whether any of those you passed were carrying a knife? If you live in the west of Scotland, chances are that if you passed 20 young men aged between 15 and 25, almost all would have been carrying a “blade”, as the cool call them, for “protection”. Hate wasting good bandwidth on a vanity. I figured if anybody knew the answers to my qustion it would be a freeper. I have received from a deceased relative a deleon no 4 knife. The handle is stag and the blade is appx 3 inches long. I believe it is a skinning knife but does not have a gut hook. It appears to be one of deleons earlier knives. It is well worn with the blade having some marks and the handle has lost its whiteish yellow colour. I dont have a digital cam right now so I cant post...

The easy accessibility of knives on the street makes them deadly when emotions run high, London police said following a rash of weekend knifings. "Walking downtown with a pocket knife or some other type of knife . . . is not necessarily a criminal offence," London police Chief Murray Faulkner said yesterday. "But when emotions erupt, people know they have this weapon in their pocket and they're quick to use it." Latest police statistics show weapons offences, which aren't broken down by...

Swords will become prohibited weapons from July 1, carrying penalties of up to $12,000 or six months in prison for illegal use or possession, the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Andre Haermeyer said today. Mr Haermeyer announced new sword regulations today, saying they would assist Victoria Police to crack down on incidents involving swords. "The Bracks Government is implementing these new regulations to help Victoria Police overcome this culture of young people arming themselves with swords," Mr Haermeyer said. "From July 1, swords will be made prohibited weapons, making it illegal to use, possess or carry a sword." Mr...
