Herman Cain heaped praise on the Koch brothers Friday, calling himself the Republican power brokers' "brother from another mother," NBC News reported. "Just so I can clarify this for the media, this may be a breaking news announcement for the media: I am the Koch brothers' brother from another mother," the channel quoted Cain saying while speaking to the brothers' conservative advocacy group, Americans for Prosperity, in Washington, D.C. "Yes. I'm their brother from another mother! And proud of it!" The candidate's colorful compliment came shortly after his campaign's ties to a Koch-related non-profit were challenged by a political watchdog...

The Undefeated is an independently produced feature film about Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. "Sarah Palin is one of the most talked about political figures by pundits, but the overwhelming demand for viewing...

THE Australian Federal Police could be required to investigate new climate change offences under Julia Gillard's carbon tax, sparking concerns over the agency's resourcing. As Julia Gillard today declared her carbon tax would be “shyster” proof. Climate Change Minister Greg Combet's office said enforcement arrangements under the proposed carbon tax were yet to be finalised. But AFPA president Jim Torr said there was little doubt the AFP would be required to play a role in policing the scheme. “Tax evasion is one of the big things the AFP works on,” he told The Australian Online. “This will be another area...

UPDATE--- NOTE DATE CHANGE! As the past few weeks have progressed, Wisconsin and the Nation have watched schools across Wisconsin close due to teachers participating in a “sick out”, the unions bussing people in from other states to inflate their rally numbers in Madison and legislators fleeing the state to avoid the vote on the budget repair bill. Our first rally, led by American Majority, was a success, with over 15,000 patriots showing up to the Capitol with less than 48 hours of notice. Due to multiple GOP caucuses and other Tea Party events being scheduled for Saturday March 5th,...

A well-funded organization contributes money to candidates and then works with those candidates to produce favorable policies, and gets people out to protest. Is that the Kochs or the unions? Answer: It depends. Does the organization also use the government to forcibly collect dues? If so, it’s the latter. To be fair, there is nothing wrong with the Times investigating the money behind the Tea Party protests in Wisconsin and elsewhere. In fact, such information should be transparent so voters can be aware of it and evaluate it. In that sense, the Times is providing a valuable service. But perhaps...

Somebody should send a message to the absolutely clueless AFP (Agence France-Presse) news agency: the Coffee Party today is about as signficant a political force as the Prohibition Party. However, in this AFP story by Edouard Guihaire the Coffee Party, Â which pretty much died almost at birth, is portrayed as a major political force on a par with the Tea Party. Perhaps Guihaire is new to America and has not woken up to the sad reality of the moribund Coffee Party which even our own liberal mainstream media has given up covering after an initial flurry of hype at the...

Industrialists who own private company with annual revenues of £62bn have channelled millions of dollars to rightwing causes It likes to present itself as a grassroots insurgency made up of hundreds of local groups intent on toppling the Washington elite. But the Tea Party movement, which is threatening to cause an upset in next month's midterm elections, would not be where it is today without the backing of that most traditional of US political supporters – Big Oil.

In early August Obama spoke in Austin, Texas saying Americans for Prosperity, an organization with a "harmless sounding name" might be a foreign-controlled corporation, Big Oil or a bank. From this you might think Obama really does not know who AFP is or what they do, but no, he knows only too-well that this grassroots organization, funded by Libertarian David Koch, is on a mission to educate Americans about economic policy. The New Yorker published an 11-page hit piece on David Koch, the CEO of Koch Industries and a high-profile philanthropist in New York City. Koch was honored at the...

At a recent fundraising event, not only did President Obama state that prosperous Americans don’t “need” to keep so much of the money they earn, he also attacked the group Americans for Prosperity. It wasn’t just an off the cuff remark, either. He devoted several paragraphs of his speech to disparaging the group, trying to make them sound like the arm of shady foreign corporations out to destroy the American dream. He even threw in another dig at the Supreme Court. "Right now all around this country there are groups with harmless-sounding names like Americans for Prosperity, who are running...
