  • Major problem with Detroit’s ballots: Votes being counted more than once

Vote early and often Rob covered this issue in large part yesterday while I was on the road, but as a second-day followup I wanted to highlight what could be a major - and until now, largely unrealized - problem with the administration of elections in major urban counties that vote heavily Democratic. Michigan’s recount has obviously hit some major legal hurdles, but it’s also hit a huge administrative one: Wayne County, which votes overwhelmingly Democratic and is Michigan’s largest county, can’t seem to reconcile the hand count of ballots with what the voting machines indicated. And it’s not even...

Three voters in Florida filed a lawsuit in state court seeking a recount of the votes in November’s presidential election. The voters claim that Hillary Clinton really won Florida, but problems including hacking, faulty voting machines, and voters being turned away from the polls led to a Trump victory. They sued Governor Rick Scott, Donald Trump, State Attorney General Pamela Bondi, and 29 Republican presidential electors in the state. The lawsuit, filed by law firm Clint Curtis & Associates, demands a hand recount of every paper ballot in the state. In a press release, the firm said that in addition...

So Jill Stein is demanding three state recounts, for "election integrity" as she says. Odd that she is only targeting states where Trump won by razor-thin margins. Why not also recount New Hampshire (Hillary by 0.4%)? I hope that the next time something like this happens, the GOP immediately demands a recount as well, but of those states the Democrats barely won.

Heh. OK, so admittedly, it’s not a huge gain. But still; after all the hub-bub, all the whining, and all the phony platitudes about hackers and fraud, this is pretty delicious. Not only are results in the state not changing, Trump is now up by a net gain of a couple dozen votes. Way to spend millions, Stein, Hillary, and Soros!

Pennsylvania’s largest two counties completed their presidential vote recounts Monday and Hillary Clinton only picked up five votes. According to an election official in Philadelphia County, the largest county in the state, Clinton netted five votes after its final computations. Another official from the board of elections in the second largest county — Allegheny, where the city of Pittsburgh is located — told The Daily Caller that no numbers changed after their second recount was completed. There are some really strange things going on in Detroit with the vote. First the Detroit Free Press wrote an article saying that over 59% of Detroit precincts couldn't be recounted due to mismatched votes. Then the claims that there are 85,000 uncounted votes in Detroit. So I did a little digging. First the Wayne County Clerk lists 1.134 million ballots cast, but if you add the total presidential votes there are 1.252 million total. Second, Detroit is listed as having a 97% voter turnout, but is short the 85,000 votes vs ballots cast. This matches votes cast for other...

LANSING, MI -- Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette told FOX News on Monday that a federal court intervening in Michigan's recount amounted to a "takeover." Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein requested the recount, and requested action from the United States District Court Eastern District of Michigan. The court held a rare weekend hearing and ruled just after Midnight on Sunday that Michigan's recount proceed. It began in two counties at noon on Monday. But Schuette is arguing that Michigan courts should handle the matter. "Michigan law needs to govern, not some federal takeover," Schuette said on FOX News just...

    12/05/2016 5:06:34 PM PST · by TigerClaws · 68 replies
The great Philadelphia recount has ended, and Hillary Clinton got five more votes than she had in her previous total. Donald Trump’s number stayed the same, as did the totals for Independent candidate Gary Johnson and the Green Party’s Jill Stein after the City Commissioners Office recounted votes in 75 of Philadelphia’s more than 1600 voting divisions. The recount had been launched by 250-plus Philadelphia residents answering the call of Stein, who asked for three petitioners in each of Pennsylvania’s voting district to file recounts to assist in her attempts to get a statewide recount through a Commonwealth Court and...

Dr. Jill Stein, along with her campaign staff and fellow Green Partiers, came all the way to Trump Tower this morning to blast his “anti-verification campaign” and tell him to stop spreading false information her recount efforts in three swing states. Early Monday morning, the Stein campaign announced that a federal judge in Michigan granted the campaign’s emergency request to immediately start the statewide recount. On Nov. 28, the campaign said Pennsylvanian voters filed recount requests in more than 260 precincts across the state and two days ago that it would file for emergency relief in federal court to demand...

Wisconsin recount returns for day 4 show that Donald Trump has continued to inch ahead of Hillary Clinton, gaining just over three dozen more net votes. The Election Commission does not add up recount returns when they come in, but, rather, places the raw numbers on a spreadsheet that includes each reporting municipality. Heavy has tallied the returns by county from the Election Commission’s day 4 spreadsheet (it also includes returns from days 1, 2, and 3.) The December 4 spreadsheet is updated with more new returns each day. Details on gained and lost vote counts per county are listed later...

Wisconsin recount totals for day 2 show that Donald Trump has inched ahead by a couple additional votes. Three to be exact. The Wisconsin Election Commission posts recount data on a spreadsheet every day. The latest spreadsheet totals as of 1:30 p.m. CST on December 3 show that the recount isn’t changing much, although a smattering of errors have been found throughout the state. The candidates each lost and gained a smattering of votes in towns, cities, and villages that are reporting, so any losses were basically cancelled out. The Election Commission doesn’t tally the returns, but, rather, just posts...

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Green Party-backed voters dropped a court case Saturday night that had sought to force a statewide recount of Pennsylvania’s Nov. 8 presidential election, won by Republican Donald Trump, in what Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein had framed as an effort to explore whether voting machines and systems had been hacked and the election result manipulated. But later Saturday night, the party announced it’ll go to federal court instead. A statement from the lead lawyer for the recount campaign says it’ll seek an emergency federal court order for the recount. It says barriers to a recount in...

US Green Party candidate Jill Stein said her campaign will appeal to a federal court on Monday to seek a state-wide vote recount in Pennsylvania, hours after dropping a lawsuit in a local court, saying the cost of the lawsuit was too high. "Make no mistake - the Stein campaign will continue to fight for a state-wide recount in Pennsylvania. We are committed to this fight to protect the civil and voting rights of all Americans," Jonathan Abady, the lead counsel for Jill Stein's recount bid, said in a statement on Sunday.
