Closeup image of an ancient wooden Egyptian falcon. Researchers have found a way to repoduce the blue pigment visible on the artifact, which is the world's oldest synthetic pigment. (Credit: Matt Unger, Carnegie Museum of Natural History) =============================================================== In a nutshell * Ancient Egyptian artisans developed precise, repeatable recipes to create four distinct shades of Egyptian blue, the world’s first synthetic pigment, long before the science of chemistry existed. * The pigment’s iconic blue color comes primarily from the mineral cuprorivaite, and researchers found that even samples with only 50% cuprorivaite could produce rich, vibrant blues. * Modern scientists recreated...

For years, the popular “LA Scanner” account on X presented itself as a simple, neutral feed with just scanner updates, crime alerts, and public safety notices. But now, the left-wing mask has finally slipped. And what do we see underneath? A raging left-wing activist with Stage 5 TDS, an open hatred for law enforcement, and a not-so-subtle agenda to turn his 40K followers into digital foot soldiers for sabotage against ICE. In a now-viral post, the account openly encouraged people to commit a federal crime – calling in fake reports to ICE in order to tie up their resources and...

Ukrainian drones struck two major facilities supplying Russia's military on Monday, dealing a double blow to President Vladimir Putin's war machine. The facilities struck in early morning attacks were a plant in the Chuvash Republic, which produces navigation systems for Russian drones and missiles, and a gunpowder factory in Kazan, according to local reports.

snip... That's the point to remember as you watch the "National Guard" of the so-called global hyperpower try to re-establish its sovereignty in Paramount, California. When I wrote the above at the dawn of the century, the city was 72 per cent Hispanic. Now it is 82.3 per cent. Over 36 per cent of the population is foreign-born. Which is not normal, outside of conquest in war or colonisation. As Democrats are wont to say when one proposes deporting an MS-13 rapist, "That's not who we are." Which at least appears to acknowledge that "who we are" is a topic...

Among the most surprising finds is that the inhabitants of the earliest cities of the Bronze Age (3500–1200 b.c.) were enthusiastic pig eaters, and that even later Iron Age (1200–586 b.c.) residents of Jerusalem enjoyed the occasional pork feast. Yet despite a wealth of data and new techniques including ancient DNA analysis, archaeologists still wrestle with many porcine mysteries, including why the once plentiful animal gradually became scarce long before religious taboos were enacted...In the 1990s, at the site of Hallan Çemi in southeastern Anatolia, archaeologists unearthed 51,000 animal bones dating to about 10,000 b.c. Of these, boar bones made...

For about 400,000 years, humans have consistently relied on fire for various purposes, especially for cooking, a process that helps kills off harmful bacteria and parasites in our food while also making it easier to digest. According to a statement released by Tel Aviv University (TAU), however, cooking was not the motivating factor for why early hominins learned to control fire. Instead, TAU archaeologists Miki Ben-Dor and Ran Barkai propose, its original purpose was to preserve meat in order to extend its shelf life and to ward off scavengers intent on stealing humans’ hard-won prey. The research examined the earliest...

Several ancient Roman writers describe how thrushes were a culinary delicacy, often elaborately prepared and served at banquets attended by society's wealthiest members. However, a new study suggests that the rich were not the only ones dining on these small songbirds, La Brüjula Verde reports. Excavations in a cesspit connected with a taberna in the Roman city of Pollentia on the island of Mallorca uncovered a myriad of animal bones from mammals, fish, and, birds. Tabernae were the Roman world's fast-food establishments that often served hot food for the working classes. The archaeologists were surprised to find an abundance of...

I think someone is in big trouble over at American. American Airlines made a slight mistake which turned into a big mistake as a flight from Philly was descending into Naples, Italy. The plane was too big. Yep. The plane went to and from the right place, with all the right passengers, on time as far as we know. But someone at American made the mistake of "upgrading" the plane to a size too big for the Naples airport. On June 2, 2025, the transatlantic flight, normally operated by a Boeing 787-8, had been upgraded to a larger 787-9 (registration...

Videographer Cam Higby captured of the Los Angeles rioters attacking police horses during Sunday’s riots. The rioters fired off projectiles and fireworks at the animals on Sunday as they continued to rip apart the city over the Trump administration’s arrest of criminal illegal aliens. You can see the panicked horses jump back as the projectiles exploded at their feet. This is all thanks to Democrat leadership. They could have stopped this. They didn’t. Video via Cam HIgby.

We’re only a few days into the anti-riot crackdowns in Los Angeles by various armed government enforcers and already there are lives at stake. No, not the lives of the hundreds of protesters out on the streets across America’s second-largest city, but the political lives – or at least longevity – of some of the highest-profile personalities to emerge during president Trump’s second turn in the White House. SNIP But the most consequential political life at stake here is that of Donald Trump himself – whose ultra-adversarial, bully-like tactics have yet to be tested as they are right now...

Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” while insisting to “keep it peaceful,” Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) called for more protests around the country as rioting is underway in Los Angeles tied to the Trump administration’s deportation effort. The Connecticut Democrat lawmaker argued President Donald Trump was inciting behavior so he could invoke the Insurrection Act. “I mean, my first message is to keep it peaceful,” Murphy declared. “I mean, obviously, this is a moment where we have to be on the streets all over the country to protest what’s happening to our immigrant community, but more broadly, to protest what’s happening...

It’s almost hard to believe what we’re witnessing, not just in the streets of Los Angeles, but on our TV screens, where the so-called “news” media is once again doing its best impression of Baghdad Bob. As violent mobs riot against ICE, hurl objects at law enforcement, set fires, and surround federal buildings, the media is bending over backward to pretend it’s all just another peaceful day in paradise. And it’s not just national media.ABC 7 in Los Angeles is gaslighting its viewers, too. Anchor Marc Brown had the audacity to blame law enforcement for escalating the situation when it was...

The U.S. Northern Command on Sunday said hundreds of active-duty Marines are ready to deploy to provide additional protection of federal property and personnel within Los Angeles. "By direction of Secretary of Defense and in coordination with U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), approximately 2,000 California Army National Guard soldiers have been placed under federal command and control in a Title 10 status to support the protection of federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area. As USNORTHCOM’s land component command, U.S. Army North stood up Task Force 51, with a two-star general, as the ground command and control...

VIDEO"Illegal Alien" is a correct legal term which is used in official federal government documents. "Undocumented Immigrants" or "Undocumented Migrant" or "Undocumented Worker" are INCORRECT nonsense terms used by leftists to make it seem that Illegal Aliens are somehow neither illegal nor alien. It is like legitimizing Drug Dealers by calling them "Unlicensed Pharmacists." Anybody in the media using the "Undocumented" terminology as Margaret Brennan did on "Face The Nation" on Sunday while interviewing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is publicly subscribing to the extreme leftist ideology. Noem did not correct Brennan on her incorrect leftist terminology but a Master...

The violence from protesters involved in the pro-migration, foreign-flag-waving riots in Los Angeles is “escalating,” Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell revealed during a press conference. During the press conference, McDonnell revealed that the violence is “getting increasingly worse and more violent” since the riots first started over the weekend. McDonnell also added that protesters were shooting “commercial grade fireworks” at LAPD officers. McDonnell also revealed that he respects U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, adding that they are a “fellow law enforcement agency.” “To the people who are not happy with the fact that ICE is in...

Thunberg’s pathetic, self-serving stunt ended with sandwiches and water. As Israel’s Foreign Ministry says, the ‘show is over’.. The picture of Greta Thunberg being offered a sandwich and a bottle of water by an IDF soldier is perfect. Here she is, smiling sheepishly, revealing the utter hollowness of her activism. .. Thunberg and her fellow passengers aboard the MV Madleen, the boat which tried to run the naval blockade of Hamas-run Gaza, have been now taken into custody by the Israeli navy. No injuries ... Israel described the Madleen as a “media provocation”, but whatever images the activists hoped to...
