Americans’ faith in the U.S. military has declined to its lowest level in more than 20 years, according to a recently released poll. Conducted by Gallup from June 1-22, the survey found that over the past five years, an increasing percentage of Americans are now “less likely” to voice “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the U.S. military. According to the poll, 74 percent of Americans expressed such sentiments as recently as 2018. That number has since declined to 60 percent, marking the lowest level since 1997. As noted by Gallup, overall confidence in the U.S....

President Biden’s approval rating has climbed to its highest point in nearly a year, according to new Gallup polling, as he ramps up his campaign for another four years in the White House. Biden’s job rating among U.S. adults climbed 4 percentage points between May and June, the survey found, to 43 percent who say they approve of the way the president is handling his role. It’s the highest rating since last August, but still below the approval in the upper 50s recorded at the start of his time in the White House. Fifty-four percent of U.S. adults overall disapprove...

Church attendance in the United States is lower than it was before the Covid-19 pandemic, a new survey indicated. In the new Gallup survey, 31 percent of respondents said they have attended church, synagogue, mosque or temple in the last seven days. In Gallup polls conducted from 2020 to the most recent May 1-24, 2023 poll, an average of 30 percent of respondents said they had attended services in the last week. These data represent a modest decline of an average of four points since the four-year period before the pandemic, when an average of 34 percent of respondents said...

The American public is increasingly rejecting the LGBTQ agenda, as a series of new polls show a growing majority of Americans agree that attempting to change your gender is “morally wrong,” that only two genders exist, and that women should not be forced to compete against men in sports.

Shocking, or Inevitable? Gallup Survey Shows The Most Dramatic Shift to Social Conservatism in a Decade

I’ll first repeat the question in the headline: Are the results of a recent Gallup survey showing the biggest swing to social conservatism in nearly a decade shocking, inevitable, or somewhere in the middle?Whatever one calls it, it’s a major development — particularly with the 2024 election looming ever closer. Before we dig into the details of the survey, let’s revisit a football field metaphor I’ve long used to illustrate the U.S. political landscape. The largest portion of the field — say, between the 30-yard lines, for illustrative purposes — is comprised of decent, reasonable people, regardless of political affiliation. The...

A new poll found that Americans believe that the average family needs to make a minimum of $85,000 annually to get by, a major increase from just a decade ago. The Gallup poll shows about a 46 percent increase in the perceived average income a family of four needs compared to 2013, when American put the figure at $58,000 annually. “The rise in perceived necessary income to support a family of four highlights the economic pressure facing American households as high inflation stretches into a second year,” the poll results read. About 31 percent of respondents said that the minimum...

Americans’ views of the housing market hit an all-time low this year with more than three-quarters saying it’s a bad time to buy a home, according to a new poll. Gallup’s annual Economy and Personal Finance poll found that just 21 percent of U.S. adults believe it’s a good time to buy a home – marking only the second time since the poll’s inception in 1978 that fewer than half of survey respondents believed it was a good time to buy. The highest confidence level in the poll’s history was recorded in 2003 before falling off in the run-up to...

Just 34% of Americans see the country's energy situation as "very serious," according to a new Gallup tracker poll released Monday. That figure is down 10% from last year, when motorists were paying historically high gas prices. Voter sentiment has since changed, the poll appears to show. While 44% of respondents indicated they’re quite concerned about the domestic situation, 51% said it was just "fairly serious," while 14% felt it is "not at all serious." As of March, Gallup also found that the majority of Americans – 53% – believe the country should "prioritize environmental protection" over developing our own...

Gallup Analysis: 'Americans Do Not Like ... Using Race and Ethnicity as a Factor in College Admissions'

In a new analysis of several polls, Gallup concludes that while Americans support the idea of diversity on college campuses, they “do not like the idea of colleges using race and ethnicity as a factor in decisions on college admissions.” The pro-diversity claim is that a student body filled with people of myriad backrounds — racially, ethnically, economically, religiously — enriches the higher education experience and produces stronger leaders. And while Americans in general support that goal, they do not support using race as a factor. For instance, Gallup reported, “In a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll, for example, 58% of respondents...

What is the “most important problem” facing the country today? That’s a question that Gallup regularly asks Americans and the most recent edition of that survey just dropped this week. You might imagine that crime, inflation, high prices, or the border crisis would be at the top of the list. To be sure, plenty of people cited those issues. But the number one problem on the list was “The Government/Poor Leadership.” More than one in five people (21%) chose that answer, a notable increase from the same survey conducted a few months earlier. So Joe Biden’s presidency continues to set...

On the political scale, 24% of Republicans said government was the number one problem, as did 18% of Democrats. […] In this latest survey, economic confidence is at –39%. “The latest –39 reading is identical to last month but well above the –58 score last June amid high gas prices and the...

Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A record number of Americans postponed getting medical treatment in 2022 due to prohibitive costs, with lower-income, younger adults and women the worst affected, according to a Gallup poll released Tuesday. Overall, 38% of those surveyed reported that they or a family member had put off seeking medical care because of the high bills they would incur. That's the highest such response in the 22 years Gallup has been tracking the trend. The 12-point increase from 2021 marked the steepest year-over-year increase so far, Gallup said in a news release. Those putting off treatment for "very"...

In the survey of 1,009 adults, aged 18 and older, Gallup asked, “Do you have a gun in your home?” In response, 46% said they have a “gun in home or elsewhere on property,” and 33% said they “personally own a gun.” “Personal gun ownership has averaged 30% since 2005, when it was first measured,” reported Gallup. “Household gun ownership was higher in the early 1990s than it is now, but...

The Gallup Party ID Index has been historically one of the most accurate predictors of the House Popular Vote over the past eight years. This year, as of right now, they clock in Republicans with a four point lead over Democrats (48-44). I analyze how big this is for this November.
