Ron Paul’s inclusive message attracting African American voters

Ron Paul’s inclusive message of peace, freedom, and prosperity may be attracting African American voters. According to this poll, Ron Paul leads his GOP opponents among black voters in general election contests.
In general election matches Paul loses among African American voters 60% to 33% against Hillary Clinton and loses 61% to 31% to Barack Obama.
In 2004 CNN exit polls show Bush receiving 11% of the African American vote in the general election against Kerry.
The averages of general election match up against either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama are for Paul, Romney, McCain or Giuliani are, Ron Paul - 32%, Mitt Romney - 23.5%, John McCain - 20%, Rudy Giuliani - 16%.
If the polls are accurate it could mean that Ron Paul’s message that ‘Freedom unites people’ is working. Paul’s uncompromising defense of the Bill of Rights is making him a Civil Rights Leader in his own right. ("Ron Paul inspiring new Civil Rights movements")
The poll, if accurate, could also mean that Ron Paul’s message of ‘repealing the police state’ is resonating with African American voters.
Paul does appear to be a uniting political force attracting supporters at his events from all walks of life.
USA Daily does not encourage its readers to allow polls to influence their voting decisions in any way. They are too often inaccurate. This statement is not a comment on the poll in question just on polling in general. (Discuss the election on www.usadaily.net)
I did address it earlier. In that post I said it would be VERY IMPRESSIVE if a Repubican could get 33% of those who actually bothered to register and vote, from 1/10th of the populace that demographic represents.
BTW, I also said Ron Paul would never get that vote. He won’t be the Republican nominee.
Please tell us what percentage of the left handed homosexual squash players who prefer green uniforms as opposed to pink, and don’t like horizontal stripes more than vertical strips only on Thursdays but like to have those traits reversed on Tuesdays, whose birthday falls on February 29th, will be voting for Paul. I’m desparate to know.

I addressed the problem of strife between the two groups spreading across the region, and you didn’t even pick up on the complexities that would create.
Instead you drifted off on some plan for the U.S. to purchase oil for us and give it away free, because this war is not cost effective.
And where would the U.S. buy that oil if the Middle-East was in turmoil? You mentioned Turkey, but Turkey can’t supply what Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Arab Emerate states provide now.
I’m just saying that if people who presently support Ron Paul’s Presidential run knew that Ron Paul avoided the NAACP convention, then they might have different thoughts about him.
If Ron were your normal Republican candidate, the party unified and all, I would agree that the 33% of that demographic would be important. Ron would have to pull the conservative party members along, and IMO he’d lose ten times the votes there that he would gain in the group you address.
Please find 33% support for George W. Bush amongst polls of Likely Black Voters in 2000. Or 2004.
Any polls. Any where. Any at all.
The fact is, if the Democrat Nominee even has to spend money and manpower defending their control of the Black Vote, they're at a huge disadvantage. And if ANY Republican Candidate actually does take 33% of the Black Vote -- it's OVER. Entire States are considered "Democrat Safe" simply because the Democrat is expected to take 85-90% of the Black Vote.
Put that factor into play, and the GOP Candidate wins in a walk.
What makes you think that the Blacks who support Ron Paul even care about the NAACP Convention?

This isn’t the party of Nancy, Harry, Cindy, Hillary, Murtha... it’s the party of Ronald Reagan. Paul has as much chance of getting the Republican nomination as Barney Frank.
I don’t blame you for thinking he has some good values. I have appreciated those values over time. The fact is, I simply couldn’t vote for a man that objects to our efforts in Iraq. That’s the long and short of it.
I’m in Asia and have been in and out for several months now. I do not get to see the debates (other than clips on youtube), reading the articles posted on FR and other similar sites.
After reading the articles and the arguments yourself and George W Bush posted and counter posted, I started to look at RP. I had no plans to vote for the guys who are in the “top tier” of the republican party. I did however think Hunter had some interesting stances. RP, despite his stance on certain aspects of F/P, I do like him. It’s time for a change, a real change, because the last 20 years with the Bush/Clinton Regime, it’s time.
Wouldn’t that be an interesting ticket if RP and Hunter joined forces. Both would balance one another greatly. IMO. If anyone else gets the nomination, it would be hard (supported, campagined, etc for both bush’s) for me to support any of the others.
I read a sign on a RP supporter, “Dr Paul cured Apathy”. Maybe Ronald Reagan would be proud considering he got a lot of the cross over votes.
Maybe that is the reason some AA, per this article are supporting RP. I know I have several colleagues, friends, etc who support RP who have fought for their and our freedoms in the wars dating back to Korea. Officers and enlisted.
We can all agree we do not want Hillary in there. For some strange reason, I think she is already crowned.
Throughout this whole ordeal, you, George, EEE, travelsticks, and several other supporters have made a case for RP and not gotten into the name callings and only countered with logic and reference to the facts. You can hold your own. Hats off to you.

That they are. I sure have a hard time understanding some folks. My patience runs out when I see them act as if nothing productive has taken place in Iraq. This isn’t a perfect world. We make the best of situations that we can. This we have done in Iraq, and Laden has been discredited. The Iraqis have sided with us over someone they used to respect a lot.
Still some folks see no value in this whatsoever. Well, that’s a shame.

There were a number of folks talking to you on this thread, and of those who objected to your premises, none of them expressed to you firmly enough what I am about to say to you. I will not be voting for Ron Paul. I consider our War on Terrorism to be very important. Hillary Clinton would come closer to defending this nation against agression that Ron Paul would. Sorry, that’s the way I see it. I absolutely loathe Hillary Clinton, but I would sooner leave the top spot blank than vote for Ron Paul.
You guys are severely misjudging the political climate if you think Ron Paul will ever be President of the United States.
If you were making this play regarding our Bosnia Kosovo actions, I would seriously consider backing your play. When it comes to Iraq, I cannot help but think you folks have a gene missing or something.

There are just about an equal number of Kool-Aid drinkers who will vote for the party nominee no matter what. They are irrelevant to the politicians. The fight is for the 20% or so of voters who vote or stay home based on the choice of candidates.
Very few of the Kool-Aid drinkers are going to stay home no matter who is nominated. These people would vote for Jimmy Carter if he was the Republican nominee and running against Thomas Jefferson on the Democrat ticket. They would vote for Dr. Paul on the Republican ticket
Ed Rollins has spoken out about the opportunity Republicans have in the Black values voters, but is ignored by everyone except Rove. I saw that pompous nut job, George Wills ridicule Rollins about this back in 2000. But among political strategists Rollins and Rove are just about the best around right now.
Of course, all this is academic. We aren’t likely to find out who would vote for Dr. Paul in a general election. And as I said above, I’m not convinced that these polls are correct. My only point was, if the Republican switches 20% of the Black vote from D to R, he wins.
