Diocese of Cleveland: Out and Proud
The Wanderer ^ | September 27, 2002 | From The Mail

Posted on 10/03/2002 2:55:22 PM PDT by Diago

The following appeared in "The Wanderer's" from the mail section. (This does not appear on the website, I had to type it in):

In Cleveland, which has been racked with the most damaging sex abuse scandals outside of Boston and Los Angeles, diocesan officials, including Bishop Anthony Pilla, maintain a stiff upper lip as some homosexual activists in the chancery and parishes continue to transform parishes into gay-friendly communities. Consider:

The Diocese of Cleveland's official web site (www.dioceseofcleveland.com) greets the viewer with a rainbow flag, and gay activists at the diocese's Gay and Lesbian Family Ministry (GLFM) office are way out and way proud.

One member of the GLFM recorded his experience on an area gay web site of his participation in the Cleveland Gay Pride Parade, informing, "The catholic group had a very nice sized contingent. There were a whole ton of other religious groups as well...Oh, did I mention that I am in the same video as a pornstar?!...Our table was almost across from The Grid's table, so we got to watch Matt Rush shirtless signing autographs and posing for pictures most of the afternoon. I felt so uncouth ogling a pornstar and trying to be a respectable representative of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland...

"The Stonewall Democrats had the booth next to The Grid, and they had some mighty fine shirtless guys sitting at their table, too. After we took down our table at the pride festival, seven of us from the Catholic group went out to dinner...We also had the same waiter that we had last time...the cute one with attitude."

The author of that revealing letter is the apparent friend of Brian Halderman, a longtime gay activist of the Diocese of Cleveland who recently announced that he is joining the Society of Mary (Marianists) in Dayton.

In another Internet chat thread sent to FTM by a Cleveland reader, Halderman revealed that while a parishioner at Ascension Church (a church plagued by a number of predator priests), he was a chatechist involved in the sacramental preparation of second graders.

Reader, does all this help you understand what bishops such as Clark and Hubbard and Pilla mean by the "lay-run church.

The gay/lesbian's believe that the bible condones homosexuality and say that leviticus 18:22 states that two men shall not have sex together in the bed of a woman, not that two men cannot have sex together.

The word, abomination, they translate has two meanings, one means ritually unclean (which they use to show it is ritually unclean for two men to have sex in a woman's bed), and the other is the meaning we are all familiar with (sin, transgression, etc).

It is obvious by searching around that they believe the bible is ok with it - and it is their right to interpret it in such ways. But in the past the vast interprestations have led to new sects, it seems they want to convert all the sects to their way of thinking which is where I disagree with them.

Heck, if they want their own heretical sect, I'm cool with that, but if they want to shove their agenda down my throat (pun intended) I do have a problem with that.

The other one I'm hearing a lot lately is in reference to the men of Sodom who wanted to rape Lot's three guests, who were actually angels, even over Lot's daughters. The gay-friendly interpretation would have us believe that their sin wasn't homosexuality, but rather, inhospitality. Am I to take it that a "sodomite" is an inhospitable person? I am so confused! I will pray for the good people, triple time for the bad, of Cleveland.

Confusion and everything upside down and backward is Satan's thrust. Pray to St. Michael. V's wife.

He himself is a good man. He's in over his head as Bishop though. He'd be better off running a medium sized suburban parish.

I'm not sure how I got on your list since I'm not a Catholic (I'm a Reformed Protestant), but I can say that it pains me to see this perversion making its way through your congregations. Western society has provided a perfect breeding ground for it.

Diago, I believe I have already provided you with this information but, just in case, here it is again. You MUST CONTACT www.rcf.org! They are actively investigating many bishops in the US, including Pilla. The following is an excerpt from their 1998 newsletter:

The following is quoted from the November 20, 1998 issue of The Gay People's Chronicle, a weekly newspaper in Cleveland.

Bishop to preside at Dignity prayer service
by Doreen Cudnik

Cleveland - The Most Rev. Anthony J. Pilla, bishop of Cleveland, [Pilla was past president of the National Conference of Bishops] will preside at Dignity Cleveland's 25th anniversary prayer service, to be held in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist downtown.

Dignity invites all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Catholics, their families and friends to join them...

The service is set for Friday, December 4, at 7 pm at the Cathedral, located on the corner of E. 9th and Superior Ave.

The prayer service will be followed by a reception with Bishop Pilla at 8 p.m. in the Rappe Room of the Catholic Center located on the Cathedral campus.

There will be a meeting on November 22, following Dignity Cleveland's monthly celebration of the Eucharist at the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Peace church at E. 125th Street & Shaker Boulevard, to discuss ways to make the December 4 prayer service a successful and spiritually moving event.

What are we to think? RCF has information regarding the homosexual activity of several bishops. We will not make this information public unless all other avenues to correct these situations have been exhausted. These bishops and priests need our help in finding their way back.

RCF "outed" St. Gabriel's Angels network. They will work with you to remedy the situation in Cleveland.
