A Navy officer from Denmark, Ia., was barred from a Mormon temple in Nauvoo, Ill., on Monday because of his behavior during a previous visit.

Rocky Hulse first toured the new temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 21. At the end of the tour, he said, he asked a temple official where the cross was located in the church.

Since this Temple is a rebuilt version of the one destroyed in the early 19th century after a mob murdered the founder of their religion, I would expect Mormons to be particularly touchy about anti-Mormon bigotry at that location.

Proseltyzing Christianity to non-Christians is one thing. Entering their worship sites and harassing them is another.

I'm glad someone pointed this out. You too can become master of your own special universe - just keep nice and quiet until you make it into the inner layer of the Mormon Church. There, upon being completely compromised, you too will learn the amazing, death-defying secrets of Brother Joseph....

I can assure you that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are most assuredly Christian!

I can assure you that that depends on your definition of Christian!

"I showed the guard my military identification," Hulse said. "I asked if I was to be thrown out after almost 30 years of protecting the religious freedom of church members."

What a jerk. Somebody needs to inform him that while his service is appreciated, it does not entitle him to flout the behaviors of a civil society. Sure, he would NEVER engage in behavior that would get him charged under the Uniform Code. A completely snotty and un-officerlike response. I hope someone drops a not-so-subtle hint that this kind of baiting should cease.

We may need to ask this jackass what else we owe him for his 30 years.....

The Temple. not the churches. Think of a Temple like a country club.

Or a treehouse. No girlz alloud.

A Mormon temple never displays a cross. It never displays Jesus.

It does put a statue of an "angel of light" on the tallest point of the temple.

The "angel of light" appeared before John Smith and told him that God was originally a man, and that man could become like God.

What fallen angel of light would want to push that idea? Hint: 2 Cor 11:14.

The next time you see a picture of the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, look for his statute standing at the highest point.

I had a Hyundai Excel

My sister-in-law used to have one of those things. I drove it a few times. I think a school bus would outperform it in both maneuvering and acceleration.

When I was in high school one of my friends had an old Fiat. It was top heavy and would flip on a dime if not handled properly, but boy, we sure zipped around in that thing! And considering it was in the middle of the 70's oil crunch, we could each chip in a few dollars and cruise all night. Aaahh, the memories!

I got interested in Mormonism because of Lady Lawyer beating the ell out of me on another thread about the abduction in SLC......what layers? what death defying? I was assured they were Christian by Mormons and assued they were NOT Christian by others. Do Mormons believe that Jesus is their Saviour? and HE is one part of the TRINITY? If so, that would make them Christian.

Someone did say they will become a god when they die, but that seemed like they meant to say Angel.

"A warrant officer in the Navy with 28 years of service, Hulse said he would never cause a scene and risk being charged with conduct unbecoming an officer under the Uniform Code of Military Justice."

Is a warrant officer a real (commissioned) officer? Excuse my ignorance, all warrant officers out there, but is a warrant officer required to be a "gentleman?"

It never displays Jesus.

The public part of the Mormon temple in Silver Spring, MD has several pictures of Jesus: walking among the Israelites, riding a burro with the Incas, in the forest with the Shawnee...I don't agree with their theology, but let's stick to telling the truth.

Hey, if you want to go inside the temple after it is
dedicated that's not a problem at all.

First, there are 6 lessons you must take with the
missionaries and attend an Sunday service, after that ask
to be baptized and spend one year as a faithfull active member
(that would include studying the Bible and Book of Mormon, no coffee, tea, smoking, illeagal drugs, sex outside of
marriage, attending meeting, paying tithing, fasting, serving in
callings etc. etc.) After that it shouldn't be too hard to get
inside.

Now if all that seems too much trouble to you, that is YOUR choice,
but we stand ever ready to help you if you change your mind.

Cannot believe all the misperceptions of Mormonism as well as their history, the comments on this thread represent. People, you have a PC in front of you, USE IT!

Study the Gov. of Missouri's EXTERMINATION RULE! How do you think the Mormons ended up in Nauvoo? And why did they leave in the middle of winter?

Their flight from Nauvoo was no less a suffering than the Russians fleeing St. Petersburg. History people, history. Ya, I know, painful...
