"I showed the guard my military identification," Hulse said. "I asked if I was to be thrown out after almost 30 years of protecting the religious freedom of church members."

What a jerk. Somebody needs to inform him that while his service is appreciated, it does not entitle him to flout the behaviors of a civil society. Sure, he would NEVER engage in behavior that would get him charged under the Uniform Code. A completely snotty and un-officerlike response. I hope someone drops a not-so-subtle hint that this kind of baiting should cease.

We may need to ask this jackass what else we owe him for his 30 years.....

I do think it funny that some people think there's some sort of appropriate trade-off involved here.

It's like the Frank and Ernest cartoon I saw years ago. "Frank" and "Ernest" are in heaven as angels, standing on a cloud. "Frank" is looking over the edge of the cloud, grinning like a coot. "Ernest" says "Do you mean you lived a live of exemplary behavior, fraught with deeds of kindness and compassion toward your fellow man, just so you could eventually come up here and DROP THINGS ON PEOPLE?!?!"
