The Vatican’s doctrine office will publish a new document next week on discerning Marian apparitions and other supernatural events.

The Holy See Press Office announced on Tuesday that Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, the prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), will unveil new norms for discernment regarding “apparitions and other supernatural phenomena” on Friday, May 17.

In an interview with the National Catholic Register, CNA’s sister news partner, last month, Fernandez said that the document will provide “clear guidelines and norms” for discernment.

The new norms will be the first time that the Vatican’s doctrinal office has issued a general document on apparitions in four decades. Pope Paul VI approved norms on “the discernment of presumed apparitions or revelations” in 1978.

Peter used the keys when he preached the gospel both to the Jews and Gentiles (Cornelius).

That opened the way of salvation for both Jew and Gentile and there is now no restriction on who can be in right relationship with God.

Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone as HE is the only one who died for us and provided the way to God. And nobody can stop the born again believer from entering heaven.

Try reading post 268 a little more closely.

I certainly do not render him latria, or even hyperdulia. Doubtful that anyone who can read and comprehend would think that I render him dulia. I probably don’t even give the devil his due.

I salute ealgeone for being a better man than I in this respect.

I know a lot of apparently born again believers who appear to be damned good at stopping themselves.

Agree that only Christ died and rose-—no point in eating anyone else’s body or drinking anyone else’s blood.

Yeah, but he hung around with Catholics.

All the Baptists hung around with John.

Until the Ethiopian Eunuch, all Catholics were Jews.

Of course, Judas was the most Jewish (Joke)

A pig is a pig. Francis is a Pope. He may be the worst Pope ever, somebody has to be. I wouldn’t care to debate that point.

I do not quite grasp how you could claim that he is my Idol.

Now that I have context:

When it comes to Scripture strictly speaking, this is Pope Francis’ most official statement.

https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/apost_letters/documents/papa-francesco-lettera-ap_20200930_scripturae-sacrae-affectus.html

I haven’t read it in a year or two, but as I recall, it is quite good, and I expect that he had Benedict ghost write it for him-—but that’s allowed.

Yes, Pope Francis is reported as saying stupid things that do not seem to whole heartedly endorse scriptural positions and tolerates people around him who say worse.

They are part of the Church, yes, but the Pope is careful not to say these things through mechanisms that formally teach that people need to heed.

There are ways of largely ignoring this Pope as a good Catholic.

Before the modern media, the Pope rarely impinged on the average person beyond being prayed for. Bishops should pay some attention to the Pope, but Bishops should also be well enough formed to know when the Pope is speaking formally and when he is speaking informally, and if his informal musings are not useful, and you can’t say anything nice, then say the Rosary.

Depends on context. If you were to be knighted, would you kneel before the king? There is also the question of respecting the person and respecting what the person stands for.

If given the opportunity, I would kneel before the Pope and kiss his ring-—or better yet, kneel before him to receive Holy Communion. I don’t think it would give him warm fuzzy feelings, and would telegraph that I greatly respect the office and the Church, but as for the personal tastes of the man, I am not out to stroke his ego or feed his false humility.

If you refused to kiss his ring and defended his recycling, and insisted on receiving Communion in the paw, Francis would find you simpatico in a way that I am sure I would not be simpatico.

But I’m not here to stroke the egos of churchmen-—I’m here to follow Christ.

Or as the final four lines of the final verse of Way Down in New Orleans by the Hillbilly Thomists says:
Cutting all ties with the prince of lies, face the music, preach the truth, that’s what we came here to do

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKEtajrMY-0&list=OLAK5uy_mjX9ENlde5hqIffxA-t0qVaSkEdCxanZI&index=24

Traditionally, one bent the left knee before sovereigns, and the right knee before God. In pledging one’s allegiance, the tradition was to do so while kneeling. Demons don’t humble themselves before anybody, so in Medieval art they are portrayed as having no knees.

The modern liturgy has canned a fair bit of the traditional kneeling, and what one does with Bishops may vary somewhat in comparison to what is done with a simple priests.

Hope that helps.

You probably won’t like Bourbon, Bluegrass and the Bible-—but you can try it on for size. (Another song by the Hillbilly Thomists, composed by the head of the University of St. Thomas in Rome (better known as the Angelicum) during the height of the lockdowns. He’s a small town Georgia boy.

Jesus rebuked the religious leaders Face to Face for very much the same Thing. I can’t understand how anyone could sugarcoat the Lies directed at The Kingdom of GOD and the Lord Jesus Christ! The Truth of God’s Word is understandable to someone of my Education and yet Educated
Folks Denied Jesus Words During His life as do current Souls——
We have but a short time-——
And Then Judgement for What We Did concerning The Way,Truth and The LIFE.

If you can't afford a scapular at this time, you can...

...hope that a faithful catholic will love you so much to slip THIS into your clothing:

While the rosary, the
Memorare, and other prayers are wonderfully powerful ways to intercede for others, Our Blessed Mother decided, in 1840, to help us get a little more creative in regards to how we pray for healing and spiritual conversion for the people in our lives.

Exactly six years later, Mary appeared again, and Sr. Justine asked her these important questions. Our Lady’s reply was surprisingly simple and rather intriguing:

“This scapular is not like others [it is not based on a religious habit] but merely two holy images on a single piece of material. Therefore, no special formula is required to bless it or enroll someone in its use. It suffices that it be blessed by a Catholic priest and worn by the one whom we desire to benefit by Our Lady’s intercession. If, on the other hand, the person is unable, or even unwilling, to wear it or carry it, it may even be slipped, unknown to them, into their clothes, possessions, home or work environments, etc."

Thanks to those who gave their lives to ensure that each of us can read GOD’s word for ourselves.
