Shroud Ping.
No, not a chance.
ANSWER: Because science can't come to a conclusion until it can replicate the Shroud -- which nobody has been able to do.
The most remarkable thing about the Shroud of Turin is that it has all the characteristics of a photographic negative -- hundreds of years before photography was invented.
It’s always nice that the biblical history is validated. Yet, in the end, it all boils down to John 20:
29Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”
Christianity does not stand or fall on the authenticity or otherwise of the shroud. The New Testament is enough evidence.
5 reasons to believe
They are more powerful than the reasons to doubt.
Imho.
I’ve read nearly every book in English on the Shroud, pro and con, and the evidence is very strong that the Shroud is genuine.
Jesus’ head was wrapped in a separate cloth from His body (John 20:7).
In 2002, in italy, the removal of the 16th century backing cloth exposed a rare type of stitch on the back of the Shroud, a stitch only known from one other place, the Masada Fortress in Israel.
This archaelogical connection adds authenticity to the Shroud story, as Masada was a witness to the Jewish revolt aligning with the historical timeline of Jesus.
I remember about 20 years ago watching a retarded documentary on one of the “educational” channels on the idiot tube. The meatheads said that the shroud could be easily forged with the use of a pizza oven like the ones they had back in the Middle Ages. They put a rag on a marble bust of a person and baked it in the oven for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. They pulled out a rag with some brown markings on it. I had been expecting a pizza.
Perhaps the face belongs to the shroud’s possible creator, the greatest human trickster of the ages. Leonardo Davinci. Master of anatomy.
Of course, I would wish for the shroud to be the real thing, but there is Occam’s Razor to contend with.
No. Jesus wasn’t a hippie. He kept his beard and hair trimmed short neatly, as required by Jewish law.
Thank you.

I read years ago, that in the Middle Ages people might want something they could call “sacred”. So con men would take a statue, cover it with a rough cloth, then take a charcoal “powder puff” and daub the cloth with it giving the impression of the statue on it. then they would sell them as a Holy Relic.

This has always been my supposition when studying the descriptions of the image on the Shroud.
I read an interesting book by a doctor who has studied the shroud for years. He concluded that the image is of a man FLOATING upright, based on the position of the feet and hair. The moment of resurrection. A flash of celestial light.

In the mid 70’s I came across an article about the shroud. It intrigued me and when ever more news about it came out I was drawn to seek it out. Now in 1978 Im a platoon leader of a Hawk Missile Btry. in Germany, my wife is pregnant and because of the lack of officers available to pull duty Ive just come off pulling months of back to back duty. The previous Sunday our priest announced again about the parish trip to see the shroud. It was also going to be studied by scientists from the Air Force Academy beginning on the last day of its public exposition. Some how I was able to get a few days leave and with my wife’s permission I was able to go. It was a fantastic experience. In line for an hour finally got to the Altar where is was suspended above. At first every thing seemed washed out then slowly I could begin to see it, it was there the whole body visible right in front of me. While looking all of a sudden I got this feeling to turn around. When I did I got to see the output of the feeling of faith from the faces staring up in wonderment at the Holy Display. It was a blessed feeling. Later after dinner we walked back to the Cathedral and we could see the scientists beginning to set their equipment up to study it. What a day it was.
