The 50% number is false because it lumps the multiple divorced into the same group as the never divorced. Example. Neither my sister nor I have ever been divorced. My brother has been married four times. So is the divorce rate among me and my siblings .33% or 133%?

There is not a 50% divorce rate. The majority marry and stay married to their first love. The minority gets divorce and remarried to only get divorced again. I know several people who have married and divorced three times. Many times they marry others who have divorced, so they account for 6 divorces for two people.
