Since they (Protestants) take everything else, why not the Pope? (Article our Sunday Visitor 1950, says you don't keep Bible Sabbath, you keep her day)

PRACTICALLY everything that Protestants regard as es- sential or important they have received from the Catholic Church. They accepted Sunday rather than Saturday as the day for public worship after the Catholic Church made that change.

What I admire most about her is she don’t play the “law nailed to the cross game.” No, homey don’t play that game. She lifts up the Ten Commandments as did the Protestants of old.

Sure it’s her ten commandments, she changed the Sabbath and moved it to number 3 from number 4...(see her catechism) but homey don’t play that ridiculous new covenant dispensationalism game of today......the law was nailed to the cross.

That’s a game today’s evangelical plays to get out from the Sabbath or 4th commandment. Because they got their own laws..against abortion, homosexuality, stealing, lying, etc. But in the same breath when it comes to the Sabbath....Oh, there’s no law, you are legalistic, the law was nailed to the cross.

At Rome don’t play that game. Homey don’t play around. Evangelicals are kind of a joke today. They are all boxed in on the Sabbath , they squirm, so they managed to talk themselved out from the Ten Commandments. The law John saw in Revelation.....the “Tabernacle of the Testimony”

Funny...

Once again everything true you got from us, the Catholic Church.

What a joke.

Scripture came from the Jews as inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Catholicism had nothing to do with giving the world the Truth, thankfully, because they would have messed that up as well.

John also saw The Throne, where the First and Last sits, the 24 elders, the 4 Beasts, and the Lamb as slain, in the middle..

That’s His calendar on display vespa..

That’s not Rome’s calendar on display vespa.

That’s His New Moon Day(ignored by your Rome)
His 24 work days (changed by your Rome)
His 4 7th Day Sabbaths (changed by your Rome)
And The Passover Lamb, the 14th Day, in the middle..(changed by your Rome to something called false goddess Frigg Day Lamb)

A rehearsal every month of that vision in heaven can be observed on earth, even in His Kingdom on earth, the Church.

Yet, not rehearsed or observed by the Mother, her Harlot daughters or any Synagogues of Satan...

They have their own version that conflicts with His.

Wonder how that’ll shake out in the End...

“Sure okay. God has divided Heaven into multiple denomination sections with different rules for each one. And disregard that ark over there that has the Ten Commandments in it.”

The New Covenant is not based on handwriting on paper or stone. It is written, without letters, on the hearts of those who believe in Christ for salvation.

2 Corinthians 3:3-6 NKJV
Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. And we have such trust through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

The Sabbath applies to Gentile believers just like circumcision does. Circumcision is of the heart. So is the Sabbath according to Hebrews 3 and 4. Both circumcision and physical rest on the Sabbath were given by God to His earthly people as signs. Both apply spiritually to Gentile believers. Only Jewish and Israelites who are fleshly descendants of Abraham and Jacob are obligated to be circumcised in their flesh and physically rest on the Sabbath. These signs apply to them in both flesh and spirit.

Hebrews 3 talks about the heart God wants to replace: hard, rebellious, wandering, unbelieving, and stubborn. Hebrews 4 continues by explaining what the heart that God gives us (the one with His laws written on it) looks like: obedient. It honors the Sabbath by resting in Christ’s finished work. See 4:10.

I see a bunch of words but am having a hard time to see what point you are making. Tell me, is the Sabbath going to be observed in Heaven? Jesus kept it here on earth and He was sinless. He is our example. He is the Lord of the Sabbath. So will the rebellious ones who do not keep the Sabbath be in Heaven?

That is very well sourced, on this matter.

Wow. I enjoyed the insights from an incredible number of important Catholic voices, from sources that themselves would had to have been Catholic.

This level of analysis on past historical positions is something I rarely see, and I have to tell you your historical sources go beyond what I have gotten into.

May God continue to bless and guide you, Daniel1212.

You are performing a wonderful service.

A nonsensical argument.

The reason the Protestant movement is sometimes called the "Protestant Reformation" is because it was originally intended to reform the Catholic church. Nobody contends that Martin Luther or other early protestants woke up one morning and said, "Hey, let's start a brand new church from scratch. No wait, we'll plagiarize from someone else like the Chinese." LOL

Just like many American legal standards have roots from British law (because that is who the Americans tried to reform and when they couldn't they made a new country), so too do Protestants have things in common with our common religious ancestors: the early church. Especially with beliefs in common before Damasus I first asserted in AD 382 that the Roman see had supremacy and was somehow specially seceded from Peter. For example, much of the Council of Nicea (AD 325) is believed by Catholics and Protestants alike in part because it precedes Damasus I creating papal authority from thin air.

The Catholic church tracks itself right back to the only person Jesus ever called “Satan,” to his very face.

Very apropos.

“I see a bunch of words but am having a hard time”

Yeah. You’re not alone. Some people have a problem with things like words and reading.

“Jesus kept it here on earth and He was sinless. He is our example. He is the Lord of the Sabbath.”

Was Jesus circumcised?

Luke 2:21 NKJV
And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.

Does Jesus being circumcised mean that all male followers of Jesus must be circumcised?

Galatians 2:3 NKJV
Yet not even Titus who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.

Gentiles were not required to be circumcised. But Paul circumcised Timothy because his mother was Jewish.

Acts 16:1-3 NKJV
Then he came to Derbe and Lystra. And behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman who believed, but his father was Greek. He was well spoken of by the brethren who were at Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted to have him go on with him. And he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region, for they all knew that his father was Greek.

Nowhere were Gentiles ever commended or even recommended to physically rest on the Sabbath in the Bible except as “strangers in thy gates” in the land of Israel. If the apostles had taught that the Gentiles in the Roman empire were morally obligated to physically rest on the Sabbath, it would have caused a tremendous uproar and would have been recorded in the scriptures. But that never happened.

It’s really very EASY to understand if a person does not have a hard, rebellious, wandering, unbelieving, and stubborn heart. If a person is not spiritually blind and deaf, he can easily see and hear this. The Sabbath and circumcision are alike. Both were signs to God’s earthly people. Since the Gospel came to Gentiles, Gentiles can come to Christ without becoming Jews. We can be spiritual Jews and spiritual Israelites. Our circumcision is not in the flesh but in the heart. Our Sabbath rest is not the physical rest God gave Israelites for a sign but a spiritual rest of accepting the completed work of Christ for salvation.

“So will the rebellious ones who do not keep the Sabbath be in Heaven?”

The hard-hearted, rebellious, wandering, unbelieving, and stubborn ones who trust in the flesh, try to please God with their own efforts and reject the rest that Christ offers those who come to Him (not with their own righteousness but resting in His righteousness) will NOT be in Heaven.

And those preaching a Gospel trying to mix grace with Law for salvation will not make it into Heaven. It’s another Gospel, and it is cursed, along with its preachers.

Some fundamental Bible teachings on the Sabbath...

There is no obligation for the New Testament believer to keep the Sabbath and will also show that the idea of a Sunday “Christian Sabbath” is also unscriptural. As mentioned, there is one time the Sabbath is mentioned after Paul began to focus on the Gentiles, “Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ” (Colossians 2:16–17). The Jewish Sabbath was abolished at the cross where Christ “canceled the written code, with its regulations” (Colossians 2:14).

Also...

NEVER COMMANDED OF THE GENTILES...
All the commands regarding the Sabbath are directed toward Israel, no other nation
The exception was “the stranger who is within your gates” - Exo 20:10
The exception was to prevent being influenced to disobey - cf. Neh 13:15-21
It was to be a sign between God and His people Israel - Exo 31:13,16-17; Eze 20:12,20
— Like circumcision, the Sabbath served as a sign between God and Israel

Damasus I in AD 382, not Peter, not Constantine was the first real pope when he claimed that the Roman see had some kind of special authority over the others. In effect, this is when papal authority was created out of thin air.

That's why if you look at what's in common among what Protestants believe and what Catholics believe, you'll find we have much in common with beliefs of the church before Damasus. Neither Protestants nor Catholics today believe everything that was commonly believed in the pre-papal supremacy church. But you'll find we much of our common roots at that time period. That's why you'll hear both Catholics and Protestants alike quote church leaders from before Damasus.

Oh, there you’ve done it now! Next you’ll be posting long quotes from Ralph Adams Cram (a Protestant) about how Protestantism hates beauty (which is true).

The New Testament didn't "come from the Jews".

Catholicism had nothing to do with giving the world the Truth

Okay. Then explain how YOU know that Revelation is canonical NT Scripture and Shepherd of Hermas isn't. By what authority do you know it?

Okay, and what did Irenaeus of Lyons (+ AD 202) say about the Roman see?

But since it would be too long to enumerate in such a volume as this the succession of all the churches, we shall confound all those who, in whatever manner, whether through self-satisfaction or vainglory, or through blindness and wicked opinion, assemble other than where it is proper, by pointing out here the successions of the bishops qf the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul, that church which has the tradition and the faith which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. With that church, because of its superior origin, all the churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world, and it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition -- "Against Heresies"

There are many, many other examples from well before Damasus' time.

Oh, and BTW, I know someone who disagrees with you:

We are obliged to yield many things to the Papists (Catholics)–that they possess the Word of God which we received from them, otherwise we should have known nothing at all about it.” Martin Luther–Commentary on St. John, ch. 16

You’re wrong - once again - an unbroken streak of wrong. Incredible.

The FACT is that your “Roman Catholic ‘church’”, led by Satan, did what Satan does: Lie and Steal. Your club SCREWED UP growth of the Church by distracting people from salvation by grace- and grace alone.

Luther revealed what had been perverted and confused by your religion.

Thank God!

It may be true that “Protestants didn’t exist” but what we believe is exactly what every believer knows is true and exactly what first century believers knew.

I look forward to reading the next installment of your unbroken losing streak.
