I hope you are correct.

Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always,
but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.

There has been a huge establishment effort to kill the story. Not successful.
More priests and prelates can be expected to articulate doubts about Benedict’s resignation now that Benedict is no longer available to throw cold water on the notion.

Mine start with Father Pavone.I work with him and his staff for 20 years.Any priest that I know say this was political.

I used to say the Pope was mis=interperated now I know he meant what he said.

To begin with, any cleric offering “absolution” is commiting a sin - pretending to have spiritual ability they do not have.
Wasn't Jesus the one who told his disciples to go out and forgive sins? Why would he tell them to go out and sin? Sense, that does not make.
To: Svartalfiar
Yeshua tells all Christians to forgive each other, and sinners seeking repentence, which is what both John and Luke reported - as in “I forgive you”. Absolution is authority claiming the total removal of guilt of the perpetrator, which is not in our human hands. Only by the Grace of God are we saved from our sin(s), not by any of our acts with each other.

Ok, ok. I'll give you the direct quote then:
[21] He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you. [22] When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. [23] Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.
- John 20:21-23
That sure doesn't read like an "I forgive you" to me, it sounds pretty clearly like Jesus telling the disciples that they have the power of absolution.

“That sure doesn’t read like an “I forgive you” to me, it sounds pretty clearly like Jesus telling the disciples that they have the power of absolution.”
Christ was referring to Matthew 5:24 and 18:22
leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.
Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven
A man can only forgive sins against himself not against you, me, and especially GOD. I cannot forgive someone on your behalf for beating you to death, only you could do that and only GOD can forgive a man’s sins against Him.
