A Missouri pastor berated his 'poor' congregation for not honoring him with a new expensive watch he asked for a year ago while reportedly delivering a sermon about 'taking care of God's shepherd.'

Pastor Carlton Funderburke, of Kansas City, was caught calling his congregation 'poor, broke, busted, and disgusted' after they still hadn't bought him an expensive Movado watch - which ranges in price from $395 to $3,295 - since he first asked for it in last year.

'I'm not worth your McDonald's money? I'm not worth your Red Lobster money?' he asked the Church at the Well congregation as he paced around on stage on August 7. 'I ain't worth your St. John Knits - y'all can't afford it no how.

A watch is a timer, no? As for a stopwatch, I have one of those, too.

I didn’t put in all that work in kindergarten learning to tell time just to go digital.

Obviously this guy does not have a Leer Jet like some of the large black church pastors around Atlanta have. Shakedown artists taking advantage of their congregations. “The more you give the more your salvation!!!”

“ You can get $100 Timex that does everything a person wants from a digital watch.”

Can it do Apple Pay? Track my exercise?

Yeah, he’s a real piece of work! It’s hard to believe that people actually send him “seed”, but then it’s hard to believe people vote democrat. Go figure.

When I was a teenager, I went to a holy roller tent revival during which the evangelist said the Lord led him to take a special collection to get his new stereo set out of layaway. I wondered if he had gotten things mixed up and the Lord was really leading him not to buy stuff he couldn’t afford. On another night, a terrible storm rolled in just as the plates were being passed, and he said “I hope nothing happens to anyone before they have the chance to give what the Lord has led them to give.”

I have a fake Rolex he can have. I picked up for $14 in Chang Mai Thailand about 30 years ago, and it still works. Just needs a fresh battery and a cleaning. However, i can’t guarantee it will get him into Heaven.

I've got a pretty good Casio analog watch with day & date that runs $20. I like watches and usually wear a Seiko dive watch, but the Casio does everything except have glow in the dark hands. If it had those, I'd wear it all the time.

I purchased a Casio G-Shock atomic watch in 2001. It runs on ambient light and resets each evening from WWVB. It's still running, but was looking a bit shabby with worn off paint. It was $89 in 2001 at the Fred Meyer jewelry counter. I purchased a newer version last Summer that supports WWVB and other broadcast atomic clock setting services. Kohl's had it online for $98. Same nice stainless steel band as the 2001 model. It's my daily wear. The old one still works fine. It does what I need. Sub-second accuracy. Low maintenance.

Last year, I purchased a Samsung Watch 3 with the 4g LTE phone inside. $349 from Amazon. Nicely paired with my Samsung Android phone. Beautiful watch. One problem. The sensor uses some laser LEDs to measure pulse rate and blood oxygen saturation. It generated a 2nd degree burn on my arm. Apparently, the same happened to many other watch owners. Before I could resolve the issue with Samsung, they came out with Watch 4. The problem is inherent to the sensor system. Not fixable. The watch requires charging daily. I keep it for "dress" wear. Fancy "jewelry" to wear with fancy clothing for special occasions. Incidents of special occasions are exceedingly rare. The watch excels at dust collection.

I bought my Timex Ironman almost 30 years ago for about $29.

Great watch. I purchased one in 1992 to wear when speedskating around Miramar Lake in San Diego. The stopwatch is a handy way to time laps. Two battery changes before I set it aside for the G-Shock operating off ambient light.

True. One can never underestimate the stupidity of a Dem voter.

I’m sure his congregation knew he was a point-man for the Dem Party, and that seems to be about the only thing that counts these days.

My wife bought me one of those for Christmas some years ago, but I have never been able to figure out how to make the analog hands match the digital time inset. I’d probably wear it if not for that, but as it is I just keep it around to set my cheap Casio by every few months.

“you mean a clock with hands?’

LOL. Last week I went in for my health checkup. One of the things they had me do was draw a clock face and number it, then draw the clock hands at 11:20.

At 75 years of age it was still easy.

So ... in some congregations people can’t afford a full load of groceries or full tank of gas, or to buy school supplies

1 Timothy 5:8
King James Bible
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

I heard a recent episode of the Allie Stuckey podcast with Vince Ellison.

He had nothing good to say about black pastors. This idiot is a great example.
