Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.
(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.
“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.
The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”
“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.
“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”
“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”
Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

It’s a simple question - “In Mary’s womb, was Jesus God?”
Are you unable to answer that?

Sigh... if you read Scripture, we aren’t just saved from sin. We’re saved for eternal life with God.
Phil 2:12 "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."
Salvation, in its fullness, is God’s new creation. To save us, He remakes us in His likeness — a lifelong process.
Because God loved us so much, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from such a terrible fate. The life, death and resurrection of Jesus offer us, through the forgiveness of our sins, escape from eternal punishment.
But that’s not all. He also reconciles us to God, opening the door to a full restoration of our relationship with Him.
1 John 5
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
John says we can have “confidence,” 1 John 3:22 says,
“. . . And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 1
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Let's repeat a basic Bible lesson:
- What does Jesus say saves us?
- Matt. 24:13
13But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. |
yes, Jesus said it is not faith ALONE. We are saved by God's GRACE. Full-stop.James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. -- it's never faith ALONE. Note that
- He who believes and is baptized will be saved. (Mk 16:16)
- [U]nless you repent you will all likewise perish. (Lk 13:3)<li> [H]e who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. (Jn 6:54)
so, take it up with Jesus who says the above.
- Matt 25:31-46 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Jesus says that if you endure to the end you get salvation, that if you helped your fellow man you inherit the kingdom of God (you get salvation) --> note these are HIS own words=====
George would have grown in God's love and grace and as Jesus said was saved and endured to the end - far better than some Baptists who just call out Lord, Lord and are not saved

Murph doesn’t seem at all piffed - in contrast to your posts, Lui
Jesus Christ has the greatest title of all - GOD.
Jesus was/is/will always be God.
We Christians believe that Jesus was God in the womb, that’s why His creation is called the God bearer, the Theotokos.
If you refuse to believe that Jesus was God in the womb, and cry out “strawman” instead of answering that question, well...

This makes as much sense as saying our founding fathers left us a Congress and NOT a Constitution! And do you have amendments to the constitution? Yes.
Is the constitution a living document? YES
The constitution as you point out is not the closed book that can't be expanded on. And yet you think that Jesus left us a closed book - that is false.

Nah, only you are calling yourself a
B|+¢# - is this self-abuse normal for you?
Matthew 2:5 is not sola scriptura. It says nowhere that ONLY scripture
ditto for all the others --
sola scriptura is self-referentially incoherent, as the Bible itself does not teach sola scriptura, and therefore the belief that the scriptures are the only source of Christian belief is self-contradicting given that it cannot be supported without extra-scriptural doctrine
Example look at the Marburg Colloquy where Martin Luther and Huldrych Zwingli debated the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist on scriptural grounds but were unable to reach agreement on Sacramental Union.
when scripture is seen as the only source of infallible teaching, its interpretation is subject to fallible interpretation, and without an infallible interpreter, namely the community i.e the Church, than you devolve into Mormonism, Jehovah's witnesses and pre-tribulation rapturists
Sola is a non-biblical position that leads to the number of sola views as below
- does sola scriptura say one should believe in something as basic as Jesus was always God (Trinitarian position) or that Jesus Christ was man made God (Oneness PENTECOSTAL Protestant position) or the Angel Michael (Seventh Day Adventist Ellen G White teaching)
- Does sola scriptura say that there is the REAL Presence of Christ in the Eucharist (Lutheran, some Anglicans, maybe even Methodists), or is it just a symbol (Calvinists)
- Does sola scriptura say that one MUST talk in tongues (Oneness Pentecostal) to display faith or not?
- Does sola scriptura say that there should be an episcopate (Lutheran, Anglican) or not (Presbyterians)?
- Does sola scriptura say that apostolic succession is important (Anglican) or not (others)?
- Does sola scriptura say that Baptism is for infants and sufficient (Presbyterian etc.) or not (Baptists)?
- Does sola scriptura say that God pre-damns people to hell (Calvinism) or not (others)?
- Does sola scriptura say that vestements are ok (or in the silly words of one poster allowing men in dresses and silly hats) (Anglicans, Lutherans, some Methodists, Presbyterians, even Baptists and Pentecostals) or not?
- Does sola scriptura say that Jesus came only for the salvation of a few (Calvinists) or he was Savior of the world (everyone else)?
- Does sola scriptura agree or disagree with soul sleep? (Calvin: "As long as (the soul) is in the body it exerts its own powers; but when it quits this prison-house it returns to God, whose presence, it meanwhile enjoys while it rests in the hope of a blessed Resurrection. This rest is its paradise. On the other hand, the spirit of the reprobate, while it waits for the dreadful judgment, is tortured by that anticipation. . .", Psychopannychia,
- Does sola scriptura agree or disagree with worshipping on a Sunday (Presbyterians, Pentecostals etc.) or not (Seventh Day Adventists)
- Does sola scriptura agree with the Adventists that one should follow kosher laws or not?
- Does sola scriptura believe that we still have spiritual gifts like prophecy amongst us (Pentecostals) or not (Presbyterians)
- Does sola scriptura agree with being "slain in the spirit" (Pentecostalism) or not (Presbyterianism, Lutheranism etc)
- Does sola scriptura say that Regeneration comes through Baptism (Lutheranism) or not (Baptists)
- Does sola scriptura say that grace can be resisted (Pentecostalism, Lutheranism, Methodism) or not (Calvinism)
- Does sola scriptura say that baptism is three-fold (Mennonites) or not?
- Does sola scriptura say that there is no free will (Calvinism) or that man has free will (Mennonites)
- Does sola scriptura say that it is faith + works (Mennonites: Menno Simons told the followers of Luther and Calvin: If you wish to be saved, you must walk in the way of the Lord, hear His Word, and obey it. For nothing avails in heaven nor on earth unto salvation,
not even Christ with His grace, merit, blood, and death, if we are not born of God,
if we do not believe His Word sincerely, and if we do not walk in the light and do right. As John says:
>If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie. (Complete Writings of Menno Simons, p. 208)) or not?
- Does sola scriptura say that there is imputed righteousness (Calvinism) or not (Mennonites)

Sigh... Yes. I learned that as a small child and we studied it in Seminary.
“Far better than some Baptists who just call out Lord, Lord and are not saved”
If course there are professing Christians in every denomination who aren’t saved, and God will say, “I never knew you.”
I wasn’t singling out Baptists as being the only ones saved. I only used that in the context of the denomination of my dad’s ministry. Unlike RCs, we don’t worship a denomination or connect salvation with a denomination.

You teaser you! Making me read through Tobit 1 & 2 before coming to THREE!
Tobit Chapter 5
1 Tobias then replied to his father Tobit, 'Father, I shall do everything you have told me.
2 But how am I to recover the silver from him? He does not know me, nor I him. What token am I to give him for him to believe me and hand the silver over to me? And besides, I do not know what roads to take for this journey into Media.'
3 Then Tobit answered his son Tobias, 'Each of us set his signature to a note which I cut in two, so that each could keep half of it. I took one piece, and put the other with the silver. To think it was twenty years ago I left this silver in his keeping! And now, my child, find a trustworthy travelling companion-- we shall pay him for his time until you arrive back-- and then go and collect the silver from Gabael.'
4 Tobias went out to look for a man who knew the way to go with him to Media. Outside he found Raphael the angel standing facing him, though he did not guess he was an angel of God.
5 He said, 'Where do you come from, friend?' The angel replied, 'I am one of your brother Israelites; I have come to these parts to look for work.' Tobias asked, 'Do you know the road to Media?'
6 The other replied, 'Certainly I do, I have been there many times; I have knowledge and experience of all the ways. I have often been to Media and stayed with Gabael one of our kinsmen who lives at Rhages in Media. It usually takes two full days to get from Ecbatana to Rhages; Rhages lies in the mountains, and Ecbatana is in the middle of the plain.'
7 Tobias said, 'Wait for me, friend, while I go and tell my father; I need you to come with me; I shall pay you for your time.'
8 The other replied, 'Good, I shall wait; but do not be long.'
9 Tobias went in and told his father that he had found one of their brother Israelites. And the father said, 'Fetch him in; I want to find out about his family and tribe. I must see if he is going to be a reliable companion for you, my child.' So Tobias went out and called him,'Friend,' he said,'my father wants you,'
10 The angel came into the house; Tobit greeted him, and the other answered, wishing him happiness in plenty. Tobit replied, 'Can I ever be happy again? I am a blind man; I no longer see the light of heaven; I am sunk in darkness like the dead who see the light no more. I am a man buried alive; I hear people speak but cannot see them.' The angel said,' Take comfort; before long God will heal you. Take comfort.' Tobit said, 'My son Tobias wishes to go to Media. Will you join him as his guide? Brother, I will pay you.' He replied,' I am willing to go with him; I know all the ways; I have often been to Media, I have crossed all its plains and mountains, and I know all its roads.'
11 Tobit said, 'Brother, what family and what tribe do you belong to? Will you tell me, brother?'
12 'What does my tribe matter to you?' the angel said. Tobit said, 'I want to be quite sure whose son you are and what your name is.'
13 The angel said, 'I am Azarias, son of the great Ananias, one of your kinsmen.'
14 'Welcome and greetings, brother! Do not be offended at my wanting to know the name of your family; I find you are my kinsman of a good and honourable line. I know Ananias and Nathan, the two sons of the great Shemaiah. They used to go to Jerusalem with me; we have worshipped together there and they have never strayed from the right path. Your brothers are worthy men; you come of good stock; welcome.'
15 He went on, 'I engage you at a drachma a day, with the same expenses as my own son's. Complete the journey with my son
16 and I shall go beyond the agreed wage.' The angel replied, 'I shall complete the journey with him. Do not be afraid. On the journey outward all will be well; on the journey back all will be well; the road is safe.'
17 Tobit said, 'Blessings on you, brother!' Then he turned to his son. 'My child', he said, 'prepare what you need for the journey, and set off with your brother. May God in heaven protect you abroad and bring you both back to me safe and sound! May his angel go with you and protect you, my child!' Tobias left the house to set out and kissed his father and mother. Tobit said,' A happy journey!'
18 His mother burst into tears and said to Tobit, 'Why must you send my child away? Is he not the staff of our hands, as he goes about before us?
19 Surely money is not the only thing that matters? Surely it is not as precious as our child?
20 The way of life God had already given us was good enough.'
21 He said, 'Do not think such thoughts. Going away and coming back, all will be well with our child. You will see for yourself when he comes back safe and sound! Do not think such thoughts; do not worry on their account, my sister.
22 A good angel will go with him; he will have a good journey and come back to us well and happy.'
Seems as though Tobit was blind in other ways as physically. This 'angel' appears to be a fallen one, since I know of no instance of a 'good' angel LYING to people.

Unlike RCs, we don’t worship a denomination or connect salvation with a denomination. When I was a Catholic, I never connected Salvation with Catholicism either. I knew I was Catholic/unsaved, which is why I am no longer a Catholic. I wanted to be saved, and as a Catholic, I knew I wasn’t saved. Now, I am. See you at the OSAS, pre trib rapture, whenever it happens. 👍😃

I connected salvation with Catholicism because I had been raised being told that it was only through Catholicism one could be saved, or rather stand a chance at being saved.
You certainly could not be saved outside the Catholic religion, but even within, it was only the super spiritual, elite, like nuns and priests, who stood any reasonable chance of going to heaven. I was not interested in being a nun, and knew I could never be good enough (according to Catholic teaching) to make the grade.
Basically, I realized that while people outside Catholicism certainly weren’t getting there, there were no guarantees that even being in it would work either.

Seems like chapter five kinda tarnished this Raphael fella's reputation.
But, that fact aside, your verse here does NOT show the angel praying:
Tobit 12 12
So now when you and Sarah prayed, it was I (Raphael) who brought and read[a] the record of your prayer before the glory of the Lord, and likewise whenever you would bury the dead.
