Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.

(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.

“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.

The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”

“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.

“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”

“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”

Greene, who is sometimes referred to as “MTG” (à la “AOC”), went on to say what many faithful Catholics who.......

Perhaps you may be false teaching? Are you so very sure of yourself that you set your interpretation of the word above God?

So trusting in Christ is not good enough for you? How very sad you are.

Gee whiz bro, cut Metmom some slack. She knows how to interpret the word of God. She and I and my other friends, that you might trigger, know how to judge the cults. Since you won’t say what you believe, that is very suspicious. I am wondering if you are involved in a cult, yourself? If you have false beliefs, let me know, so I can figure out if you need judgment. 😀🤭👍😂🍳🥓

Hi, Auntceecee. May I ask what your religion is? I am a Bible-believer only.

Funny how you’ll passive-aggressively attack everyone except the foul-mouthed SDA who instigated the argument.

Makes one suspicious.

Also funny how you’ll scold people for being “judgemental” and in the next breath pronounce judgement on them without even a hint of irony.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Haha, when I read foul-mouthed and before I saw SDA, I thought you were talking about MHG.

People who believe in OSAS, can’t sin after Grace, and the PTR, by definition, do not know how to interpret the Word of God (only one sentence from me, Bro, easy to read).

Nooooo. What you don’t like is that Metmom lays down the Scripture exactly as is written. No need to interpret when the meaning is plain. You just don’t like what is written.

Is there something that stumped you?

Can you answer the question?

Are you saying that Elie’s FRiends and the body of Christ are not the same group of people? Yes, or no?

How do you come to assume so much about what I believe from a question I asked to clarify a comment you made?

I have learned that the Word of God is very clear and easy to understand and the only reason someone needs to *interpret* it is because they don't like what it says and want it to say something different.

For example, these passages in Romans and Colossians need none.

Romans 14:1-9 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand.

One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Colossians 2:16-23 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Let no one disqualify you, insisting on asceticism and worship of angels, going on in detail about visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

It's interesting to note that the Pharisees and Sadducees were meticulous Law keepers and what Jesus had to say about them in Matthew 23.

Matthew 23:13-33 But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.

“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred?

And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it. And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?

Cultists are so obsessed with the outward doing, that they neglect the inward regeneration.

“I have learned that the Word of God is very clear and easy to understand and the only reason someone needs to *interpret* it is because they don’t like what it says and want it to say something different.”

That’s my thinking on it also, Metmom. If something can’t be understood, it’s usually explained elsewhere in Scripture. The Book of Revelation is probably the greatest example as it can’t be understood without the rest of Scripture. Even then, there’s no interpreting but just a matter of looking at the corresponding passages to understand it.

“Cultists are so obsessed with the outward doing, that they neglect the inward regeneration.”

The outward doing is all they have since they don’t have the Holy Spirit doing the inward work of God that generates outwardly. A physical religion is all they CAN do.

Why should I care what a Sabbath-violater follower of a pork-eating false prophetess has to say?

I’ll stick with what Scripture actually says instead of an ‘interpretation’ that claims that it means the exact opposite of what it actually says.

The only “interpretation” that Scripture should have is from Hebrew/Aramaic/Greek into the native languages of the reader.

The plan of salvation certainly doesn’t need any interpretation. It’s as plain as the nose on a cultist’s face. So, why don’t they get it? Unbelief is a evil force. They have been warned. Their hell fire 🔥 and brimstone is on them.
Just refuse to submit to the investigative judgment, since it is a figment of some cultist’s imagination. 👍
