Marjorie Taylor Greene: I Was Raised Catholic, but Wicked Bishops Have ‘Driven Me Away’ from the Church

‘Mrs. Greene's statement about leaving the Church is as enlightening as it is saddening,’ commented Michael Hichborn, president of the Lepanto Institute.

(LifeSiteNews) – Following criticism of comments she made about the U.S. Catholic bishops, conservative firebrand U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene revealed that she was raised Catholic but left the Church “with great sorrow” when she had kids because she had concerns about the left-wing hierarchy protecting abusive priests.

“With great sorrow, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, I stopped attending Catholic Mass when I became a mother, because I realized that I could not trust the Church’s leadership to protect my children from pedophiles, and that they harbored monsters even in their own ranks,” the now-evangelical said in a lengthy statement.

The Georgia Republican was responding to the Catholic League’s Bill Donahue, who slammed her for suggesting in an interview with Church Militant’s Michael Voris that “Satan is controlling the Church.”

“The Church is not doing its job. And it’s not adhering to the teachings of Christ,” she added.

“It’s the Church leadership I was referring to when I invoked the Devil,” Greene clarified on Twitter. “Just so we’re clear, bishops, when I said ‘controlled by Satan,’ I wasn’t talking about the Catholic Church. I was talking about you.”

“The Catholic Church must throw out these monsters instead of lecturing the people its own bishops have driven away,” she continued, blasting the U.S. Catholic bishops as “some of the worst in the world” and “scheming bureaucrats in miters.” It was the “bishops’ wickedness” that drove her out of the Church, Greene said, and her own refusal to “submit the spiritual and physical livelihood of my children to these monsters.”

Yes we love Mary…
and she has the favor of many titles no doubt.
Most notably however is Theotokos.
Though- any Catholic who knows their faith properly, knows that we can NEVER love Mary- more than we love Jesus. Never, Ever.
No matter how good the smear or misinformation can be, in the end, Mary tells…
“DO- whatever he tells you” .

And you got to choose your Mother (yes, Mary was “chosen”, and way before 1 A.D.), needing a Jewish woman for you to become incarnate, into this world.
Wouldn’t you want to choose the best mom possible, of the whole world to be your mother? A Mother, that whose flesh you will take on, flesh of her flesh, that could be so awesome- could be a Mother that everyone would love as well? If you could choose?
And wouldn’t you want your Mother to be conceived also of the Holy Spirit, ever virgin- preserved free of any stain or sin that celebrated your purity in giving birth to you?
If you were Jesus wouldn’t you choose the purest woman you could? Wouldn’t you want to then to share that goodness, that purity of your Mom with everyone?

Or would none of that not matter to you, and that any woman will do?
I'm gonna take a wild guess here - but that's the case for you, just an ordinary woman for Mom.

A Mother that everyone admired as your Mother… who knew she was the most special in all the world?
We of course do not get to choose our Mother – or family- but Jesus did.

Or if you were God even- would you not want to choose the most Immaculate woman ever to bring into this world- your only begotten son?
The salvation of the world?
Would you not want the Son of Man to have the most Magnificent birth, of the most venerable woman there ever was there ever was?

The selection of Mary had less to do with her character as her lineage.

She was of the house and lineage of David and had the right pedigree for Jesus to be born of her.

Nothing but a lot of projection and wishful thinking. God is no respecter of persons. You do realize, don’t you, that RAHAB is in Jesus lineage?

Nor was Mary born without sin, nor remained a virgin.

A woman having sex with her husband is no sin nor stain.

Mary needed to be a virgin to fulfill prophecy but after Jesus was born, her virginity had no effect on Him or His ministry.

And Jesus was not so fragile that He could not bear physical contact with sinful people. Sheesh, you all have such a weak and coddled Jesus.

That is the absolute worst anthropomorphizing of God that I have ever seen.

God is God and the rest of us are separated from him by sin, whether one sin or many, it does not matter.

Rationalization and wishful thinking to not build a strong case to support Catholic claims about Mary.

Scripture builds a much better case, and there is none to support your claims.

Jesus shared the goodness and purity of His FATHER with everyone.

That whole screed about Mary and you didn’t mention the Father even once. It was God’s character through and in Jesus that made Jesus who He was, not anything He got from Mary.
