A soon-to-be-released docu-series will present a rare and researched look at one of the most perplexing Biblical topics: Nephilim (giants).
Produced by The Inspiration Networks, a faith-based family entertainment network, “Angels & Giants, The Watchers & Nephilim” presents four one-hour segments that are a serious investigation into the theories behind the Biblical giants.
Rudy Landa, a senior producer and director at The Inspiration Networks and company CEO David Cerullo decided to make the film three years ago, their enthusiasm for the subject fueled by their love of the Bible.
“The Bible describes the Nephilim in several places,” Landa said. “The main commentary of the Nephilim happens in Genesis chapter six. Most people cruise right over that passage. The Nephilim were the offspring of heavenly beings who were placed in the spiritual realm to watch over the earth in those days. They were principalities in the heavenly realm.”

I think the writers of the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament, were bad with numbers and math in general. LOL
They used metric cubits...................
Cubits are considered to be somewhere between 18” and 24”. Goliath could be up to 13’ tall by the higher measure.
I love the Bible, but I do not believe it is all there is. I believe when the church put the Bible together, it used only those books that could be used to keep people in subjugation to the church, hence only allowing the priesthood to read the Bible in the early days.
Hundreds of newspaper clippings from the 1800’s detail bones dug up in the US from people that were 10 to 18 feet tall. Other newspaper accounts worldwide had the same things dug up in the past. Many describe how the bones were either sent to the Smithsonian or purchased by them after the 1850’s but amazingly the Smithsonian claims it all never happened and they have no giant bones. The bones of these people with two rows of teeth and 6 digits on hands and toes just didn’t jive with the Darwin theories that were being pushed in those days by academia so they all disappeared apparently...
Even if we're right on how a cubit was defined, that gets into how tall (presumably how long armed too) middle eastern men were almost 3,000 years ago when 1st Samuel was written. LOL
Here’s an interesting travelogue about “Bashan” from a Christian who visited there in the 19th century:

I’ve done a far amount of research regarding the Nephilim. These were angels of satan who were apparently very appealing to earthly women. They were giants standing 7-9 feet and very aggressive. They mated w/human women and their offspring were the giants we read about in Samuel and other biblical books. David not only fought/killed goliath, but then by his absolute faith in God, hunted goliath’s brothers and killed them as well. Goliath was a Philistine but also a Gittite and related to Amorites (Gen. 10:14). I can’t help but feel there are similarities in the present day. Individuals believing they are giants of mankind visa vie their money, power. Jesus will take them down as well.
There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
Those are not the giants they were looking for...
Gee, Madison, that’s normal.
My ancestors were supposedly 3m tall in Northern Germany near the mouth of the Rhine. Thus the term “German Giants”.
Used to think that was apocryphal. Then a cousin went to Lake Constance (Konstanz/Bodensee im Deutsch) about 20 years ago to meet up with relatives...whose own ancestors we left behind 280 years ago.
All the men were 6’8” or taller. They had to bend over to walk under the typical ceiling.
So maybe your biblical uber beings were really just Germans who wandered down to Anatolia because they like the weather better.
“The Inspiration Networks”. The network sounds legit.
Right or wrong, I believe that details of stories recorded in the Bible, generation after generation, evolved with details becoming more spectacular, even exaggerated. I don’t think it should take away from that fact that the characters and/or events were extraordinary, notable and Devine.
For instance, I don’t think Moses lived to 120 years or that Noah was 950 years old. Instead, I believe they each out lived several generations of people and were considered VERY old and wise. If 3 or 4 generations of people knew these folks and passed stories down for hundreds (or thousands) of years later before first being recorded, then it can be concluded their existence, leadership and wisdom was inspired and directed by God.
That’s true!
Sex with angels...hmm you guys gotta explain that one away.
This will be a fun post...
I’ll wager Goliath was about 7’ tall and weighed about 320 lbs. Look at all of today’s sports or entertainment.
Methinks the Israelites exaggerated. Hey, Jewish grandmothers do it with their grandkids all the time. I know first hand.
Is it not possible that the prophet Samuel didn’t measure the corpse? Plus, Goliath ‘s head was missing.
Just asking.

Same crowd that can’t properly translate the Greek word for Goats and Kids(Baby Goat) in Matthew 25 wants to lecture on literalism.
I’m leaning with your statement being more on the “wrong” side than the “right” side.
YMMV since folks don’t believe the Bible anymore.
Why would we need to “explain away” anything?
