ny daughter (27) works for a local nursing home/assisted living facility.
they are forcing the jab, but are offering "religious exemption" options.
how has the FReeper community handled these situations?
they gave her a form to complete, including a place for a pastor to sign off on it.
Glancing at it, I can see a few illegal things, but law and order are dead in bidens america, so THAT is out of the discussion.
How have you all handled it, thus far?

Exactly right, This is not a theology test.
If one were Catholic, it does not matter if the Pope likes the vaccine. A good Catholic can oppose the vaccine for his or her own reasons of faith. As can a Lutheran, Baptist, or anyone else. It’s about a “personal, sincerely held belief”, if I remember the law correctly. No one else need weigh in on what you believe.
One of my sons works for a large government contractor. He filed for religious exemption and it was granted.
They are making him provide a negative test every 72 hours even when working from home.
Insane hoops to jump through. He’s playing their game for a while.

- Also, forget ‘pastor signing off.’ The whole religious exemption is based on personal sincerely held beliefs, not ‘what the boss of my denomination says.’
- A claim of religious exemption should be based on those beliefs. Among the many reasons one might find *this* vaccine unacceptable include fetal cell use, proportionality of effectiveness, the coercion of the mandate itself.
- A sincerely held belief need not be 100% accurate — under no circumstances should one debate whether your belief is OK or not. That’s only a road for them to say you’re wrong and therefore denied.
- I have read of employers countering with lots of picky details about practice of faith (which should be responded to in the general, such as ‘I have been a practicing X since ‘date’’ and not how many times one goes to church, money, a record of volunteer efforts. Some have gone so far as to argue about other products that now or previously may have used fetal cells and ‘ask’ employees to affirm they don’t use those either. Only the Amish would pass that one, and this so-called-vaccine isn’t those other things.
In general, it’s about your faith, not what your paster, jedi master, Pope or guru thinks, and certainly not what an HR slug thinks.
Worst case, consider it an involuntary opportunity to witness.

I just got a new job. In the interview they asked if I was vaxxed and I said no. They asked will you get vaxxed and I said no. I got the job, but my field is so undermanned they said okay and hired me anyway. Lineman and Power Engineers are almost entirely white and conservative. The majority are not vaccinated.
For starters, I won’t submit an exemption request until the very last minute, whenever that is.

Perhaps not everyone would see it this way, but if my employer gives me a tasking "go get a test every 72 hours" then I will put that time on the clock, and I will be paid to drive to a pharmacy, wait for the test, and drive home. Every 72 hours. They want me to jump through hoops because the boss says so? They can pay me.
I believe that all human life is sacred and bears the image of God, ("So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27)
Consequently, I believe that the act of abortion is deeply immoral, and I cannot in good conscience receive any vaccine which uses, benefits from, is derived from, tested with, or is in any way connected to fetal cell lines.
For me, to receive a vaccine associated with fetal cell lines would be to endorse and turn a blind eye to what I believe to be a grave sin, going against the word of God. Second, even mentioning the jab or arguing against the safety of it is a disqualifier for religious exemption. Using that method is interpreted as "hiding behind" the religious exemption and not "genuine."
They have to accept religious exemptions. Make them DENY that in WRITING. Document everything. emails, conversations everthing

“I am asserting my right to a religious exemption with reasonable accommodations based on my sincerely held religious beliefs.”
or
“Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 I am formally asserting my rights to a religious exemption. (redacted) can either respect those rights or violate them in an act of religious discrimination.”
If they insist on firing make them walk you out. Document on film.
They are counting on compliance without a struggle. Make take pause. No guarantee's but its better to go out on your feet than being forced to take a experimental medical injection.
IN NY you are not required to get a pastors signature. If they tell you that just reply that only God is perfect and humans are all fallible. A priest or pastor has no say in your relationship with God.
Also all the approved vaxxes were tested on fetal stem cell lines and the J&J actually is made with the some of that DNA as a byproduct.

I lost my sense of smell and taste about 2 years ago. It was never returned.
I don’t know if its covid or caused by some other issue.

“Are you vaxxed?”
“Yes”
“Will you provide proof?”
“No”.
Now they have a decision to make. Remember, the “mandate” isn’t to be vaccinated; it is to provide proof of vaccination.
