In a stunning display of theological ignorance, Beth Moore makes a strange comparison of man to search engines. Comparing Adam to the creation of the “very first search engine,” Moore asserts that people are “born with a drive to seek out the things that are of God.”
What Beth Moore fails to acknowledge, though, is that we are not born with a drive to seek out the things of God. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. We are born in a state of rebellion against God, with a sin nature. Romans 3:11 says “no one understands; no one seeks for God.”
We are not born with a drive to seek God. It is an act of the Holy Spirit that causes us to know God–it is because God sought us.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” –Luke 19:10
We are not born seeking God, Jesus said we must be born again.

Sure seems that way.
People eat this stuff up like candy but these theotainers go from “Sin is destroying you” to “God wants you to be successful and for me to have a new jet”.
Not the same...we have a “hole in our soul”...but we may not search for God to fill it. We usually find other substitutes. If Beth Moore thinks all people are born with desire to search for God...she is greatly mistaken. Certainly not a description of the world, Post Adams fall, it is de rigueur not to search, unless there is intervention.
Thanks for the links and post Jane!
We are born with a knowledge of God.
It’s very hard for the un-saved human heart to depart from self and their sinful desires.
They eat it up because it’s really what their soul desires.
Walking away and carrying your cross daily seems like too much of a burden for folks who love this world.
***Romans 1 disagrees with that.
"18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood from His workmanship, so that men are without excuse.
21For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking and darkened in their foolish hearts. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images of mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles."
***Paul expands on that in Acts 17 in Athens:
27God intended that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. 28‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’e As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His offspring.’f 29Therefore, being offspring of God, we should not think that the Divine Being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by man’s skill and imagination.
***So, humans do seek after god. In a wrong way, of course, but they do seek after god.
James 3:9
With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God;
Good post and I agree.
Beth Moore also believes in Critical Race Theory, and ‘White Racism’. Her posts on twitter about Trump were odious.
Her many followers are blind.
I have been on to her for awhile. She is a hell bound heretic.
Most people are trying to figure out how to be comfortable with their sin and still go to Heaven so they can play golf every day. Paul comes down particularly hard on the self-righteous and the church is full of those.
I agree.
I’m always cross-examining myself to make sure I don’t fall for those traps.
I’m really tired of obsessive hate being a virtue. It got so bad that some of my FB friends went into mourning when Trump left. It’s like hating Trump was their reason for living.
Being grateful helps to temper anger and hate. I never see the 3 co-exist in a person. Seek contentment daily.
The concept of a God or greater being or spirit is present in every human culture, so that argument is not invalid.
Faith for redemption. Works for reward. Sinner that I am, I'll be happy to serve those more worthy of reward forever.
Did anti-gun nut David Hogg put on a blonde wig and fake boobs for some reason?
Just say this post Appy - wise words!
Yup. Man seeks God so that we know when we stray. No doubt we are fallen and we do stray, but since we are seeking God, we feel guilt
