"We need to talk about race," Phil Vischer says in a video posted June 14 on YouTube. The evangelical creator of VeggieTales, a children's show that tells Bible stories using animated vegetables with names like Junior Asparagus and Pa Grape, tells viewers in his 17-minute video that Black households have one-tenth the wealth as white ones and delves into the history of Jim Crow laws, the "war on drugs" and "militarized police."
He talks about a TV news media that scares Americans with images of Black criminals and teachers who favor white kids due to their "unconscious bias."
Call Vischer the tip of the spear of what critics call a "woke" Christian movement whose members have not only embraced the language of the left but also its chief goal of defeating Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.
They'll do so, some say, if they can convince as little as 2 percent of the evangelicals who voted for Trump in 2016 to vote for Joe Biden in November. After all, he won in swing state Pennsylvania, for example, by just 44,000 votes, courtesy of white evangelicals...

I never did care for Beth Moore, or Joyce Meyers, or Max Lucado (he has also joined the goats recently from what I hear).
There are NO good “women’s” Bible study programs. They are full of mush. My Sunday School class was better, but COVID19 knocked that out.
Well THAT is not true. It is whom the media labels and then proceeds to tell the rest of us how wonderful the fake Christians are, throwing the ei6rd “evangelical” in there when they do not even know what it means.
“’Woke’ Christians Are Eroding Donald Trump’s Base and Dividing the Evangelical Church”
You wish, Newsweek. Lol
Do you live in lockdown territory where the government shut yall down? Our church is so spineless our governor openly said from near the beginning we could have church. The goats running the Methodist conference shut us down.
Yes we do need to talk about race. Starting with LBJs Great Society.
Trillions have been spent and the results are horrendous.
We need to hold the black leaders {and white leaders as well} accountable for the terrible results.
They are the problem.
Allie Stuckey did a great episode of Unrelatable on this very topic during the Beto boom. Eerily prescient.
Someone is looking hard for “Christians” who support their worldview. How many recent surveys have we seen with “evangelicals” stating that they: believe sex outside of marriage is OK, don’t believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, and support the “Black Lives Matter” Communist/anarchist movement.
Your Company no less!!
What right do they have?
We need some whites to win major lawsuits for this to stop.
I am sorry you have to go through that.
I worked at investment banks in NYC until a decade ago. I missed all of it.
I worked with a conservative friend at his business.
It must be brutal..I guess the best thing is to shove it off so one doesn’t get sick.
And yes. The economy. The peace deals he is making. The crackdown on illegals..nothing matters except evil white folks.
You are right. Started with Johnson...probably can be traced back further..I don’t know.
And I wouldn’t apologize for being white if someone put a gun to my head.
I don’t think much about being white. I like being of Italian descent. And most of all I love being an American.
Being proud of what you are or where you came from is fine.
When you think others deserve to be punished for a crime that doesn’t exist...that’s bad.
And I am find. I hope you are too :)
My church has been meeting since June, mostly because the governor has ignored churches here. But who knows what’s going to happen if there’s a second lockdown?
Michigan, and Ohio where our church is, have been okay with the worship. Still wearing masks, still distancing by fellowshipping outside and I think the larger services are meeting outside if over a certain number. My siblings’ church is almost back to normal attendance.
Our church attendance has been small, but they set up a separate area for people who cannot wear masks to watch streaming services.
From The Liberals!
Just ignore and shun them!
Biden is running non-stop bullshit ads here in Florida. One is a convincing pro Christian ad. Another promises to give families with children a $7,000 tax credit, new home owners a $15,000 tax credit and seniors a $1,300 increase. I kid you not. Its nauseating.
......::::::
He can promise anything but without a house and senate to approve it hes blowing hot air.
If this was so important then why now after 47 in office is it critical.
Answer lure in stupid voters.
Guess what Joey no way you get our Fla vote. Go Donald
I went to look “him” up since I didn’t know who “he” was.
“He’s” gorgeous lol
I don’t know why I thought Allie was a guy’s name.
I’m from up north and I figured it was slang for Al. “Hey Allie, get over here!!” :)
I will search for that episode now that I see who is hosting it!
I always look up a person or show if a FReeper tells me about it.
I figure if they were nice enough to tell me about it, I should look into it.
This time it was a pleasant surprise :) Great tweets by her too. She sounds tough.
That makes me sad about Vischer. I completely feel he was done wrong at the end of Veggie Tales.
The question I always wonder - and sometimes ask - is what happens if their preferred candidate wins? There seems to be some illusion that a party that has removed God from it’s platform will welcome Christians with open arms. Truly, it seems as if they are wishing to be persecuted.
so these bigoted ‘evangelicals’ notice the color of a persons skin and they are going to vote for Joe ...
Well Christians believe the Bible where God says He doesnt see the outside of a person but He looks at the heart...
God is not a racist...and Christians are not to be either...
and Christians choose to align themselves with candidates who follow God...
Joe doesnt follow God...
That makes me sad about Vischer. I completely feel he was done wrong at the end of Veggie Tales.

What happened?
a little discerning would have helped there...
Ive never regarded Beth Moore as a ‘Christian teacher’
she watered down the Gospel just like so many others...
