“Wasn’t there a King nearby looking for all male newborns so that his soldiers could kill them?”

Obviously the exact date has been a question for most folks - even from the very beginning. “Jeez - who knows!!?? Just kill all the boys less than 2 years old, that should cover it!”

For the most part, I agree with you, it doesn’t really matter if one has faith in the redemptive work of the Cross.

However, the deeper you go with God, the deeper He goes with you (”deep calls unto deep”) The more you seek Him in these types of things, the more beauty you find in Him.

It reminds me of that scripture... “It is to the glory of God to conceal a matter, but to the glory of Kings to reveal it (or seek it out)...”

I always believe that He wants us to seek out the truth of His creation in every aspect that we can, because that is the sign of a believer’s true authority (or “kingship”) in His kingdom/in God’s economy or government.

Considering all of the Elitist and anti Christian events that have occurred on this day (think of how convenient it was to force Palin/McCain to switch campaign strategies from “the surge in Iraq is working!” to having to deal with the economic recession that somehow occurred a week after Palin was shown to be beating Obama in the polls... on September 11 2008... somehow the economy tanked on this day that year while the Bushes were still in the White House and all of Jeb and W’s aides were somehow on McCain’s campaign, sabotoging things... most people forget Schmidt and Wallace worked for both W and Jeb)

Then, the Deep State human sacrifice on September 11 2012 at Benghazi...

I’m sure the list has been compiled elsewhere by smarter people than I — but today is not only a New Year in God’s heavenly government but it is the day of Christ’s birth.

The Lord is so cool.

I hear you but it doesn’t detract from the significance of September 11th.

Have you heard of the “lost centuries” theory, by the way?

It’s pretty fascinating because, at the very least, it underscores how screwed up our idea of history really is, (the exemption being, of course, the Bible.)

Also a tie in with the idea that nobody knows when Jesus is coming back. IIRC, the Feast of Trumpets only begins when two people run back to the priest to say that they have seen the sunrise for that date. (First sunrise after the second moon in the 8th month or whatever).

So it can’t be calculated using the sun and moon and stars. Cloud cover, how fast both men can run, etc. all factor into it. (One guy reports the sunrise, the second guy confirms it, the priest blows his horn and the festival begins!)

After the year we’ve had - I wouldn’t mind if today is the day that Jesus comes back. Of course the Bible says that it will get MUCH worse than this before Jesus comes back and sets up Heaven on Earth.

In complete agreement.

Tradition is never an accurate measurement for truth.

what?

it does.

1. the argument given that Dec 25 is of Saturnalia or Sol invictus is historically false

2. the dating of sep 11, basing on the apocalyptic allegory of what happens in the heavens in the book of the Apocalypse cannot be used as proof

Sep 11 may be the date, however, there is no way to prove it

For the "lost centuries" - I've heard and read of the "phantom time theory" - that the years 614 to 911 AD never happened

Historically, it completely fails to explain why the fake 300 years (that supposedly didn’t happen) are still described in non-Western historical sources like China, India and the Middle East, with no curious gaps or mismatches between the two.

Mathematically, it completely fails to explain why astronomical data used to model eclipses and planetary positions still show a match between descriptions of such eclipses and where the numbers say they should have appeared during those three-hundred years. You can make alternative histories through propaganda - like the website this article is taken from, but you can’t make alternative orbital patterns

I think the writer of the article is pretty clear as to what that means.

Though I think I know what you mean, too, and it doesn’t matter.

Do you actually believe the “lost centuries” theory?

He is, for me, the modern equivalent of C. S. Lewis regarding his shaping of “new” thinking and clarification of Christianity as a whole.

Except he is not a “lay-person”.

The only standard to decide this matter that can be used is the Bible — and I think the author does a great job.

“Orbital patterns” lose to the Eternal Word.

If you don’t believe the article’s thesis, that’s fine: have a nice day anyway.

No, but I like reading things like that to expand my horizons — as all good intellectual Christians should — because Christ warns us, over and over, “to beware deception” (and deceivers in high places).

When Jesus was born is not a proper question.

Who is Jesus? is a proper question.

And part of who Jesus is might be determined from the day of His birth.

Our God is a God of order. And beauty.

Might be?

Jesus spent his time telling us who is , not when he was born. Eyes on the ball.

Hey, if you don’t believe this guy’s Biblical logic on September 11th, it’s fine with me.

How come it’s not fine with you if I groove on it a little?

I think it is absolutely cool that today is probably Jesus’s real birthday and New Years Day in God’s kingdom!

Hooray! Now God bless you and yours today.

I believe he was also Baptized on the day - on his 30th birthday. This would make his ministry exactly 3 1/2 year long - exactly as foretold in Daniel. The destruction of Israel also lasted 3 1/2 years, which fulfills the balance of Daniels last week of the age.

Wow, you are right I didn't see that:
