What Is Better, Catholic or Protestant? Francis: Both of Them Together
The Youth Pastoral Office of Magdeburg diocese, Germany, will organize an October 2020 ecumenical pilgrimage for young people to Rome.
The motto of the journey is With Luther to the Pope. A similar trip was already taken in 2016.
The pilgrimage is co-organized by the regional Protestant State church, although the Protestants repudiate pilgrimages.
On the trip's webpage Mit-Luther-zum-Papst.de, the tour operator, Hans Höffmann, remembers what Pope Francis said to the participants of the 2016 pilgrimage when asked by a youngster: "What is better, Catholic or Protestant? Francis answered in German: "Both of them together!
Martin Luther attended school in Magdeburg as a boy. As a preacher, he led the city to defect from the Church. Magdeburg became the first major city to publish Luthers writings.

Yes, I am saved and yes, my salvation is secure despite my sin because God wiped the record of my sin debt clean.
Colossians 2:13-15 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Jesus paid it all and I owe Him nothing.
All my sins were future to Him when he died, so it doesn't matter if there are sins that I have yet to commit. They are ALL covered under his payment for my sins because He paid for them all.

And? We’ve been telling you all along.
But that’s not the point of the discussion earlier.
The point is you changed the wording in what you said and stated one thing, claimed you said something else, which can easily be proved you didn’t and then doubled down on it as if you never changed a word of it at all.
Everyone can see you said two different things and then changed what you claimed you said. You are fooling no one but yourself.

Well, ain’t it a small world, spiritually speaking.
Pete and Delmar just been baptized and saved.
I guess I’m the only one that remains unaffiliated.

Presumption is a sin.But faith is not.
The Biblical definition of faith includes assurance.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
It boggles the mind how hard some people will work to instill the terror of going to hell in others, to rob them of the security of knowing where they are going because they trust the integrity of the God who made the promises.
So they try to convince us that we are NOT secure and the only way to have a chance is to do it there way and they can't promise it either.

Right. And the Rosary started in honor of Mary, because St. Dominic had failed for years to suppress a heresy (Albigensianism -- the spirit is good and the material world is bad -- which heresy sto
Two men considering a religious vocation were having a conversation. "What is similar about the Jesuit and Dominican Orders? " the one asked.
The second replied, "Well, they were both founded by Spaniards -- St. Dominic for the Dominicans, and St. Ignatius of Loyola for the Jesuits.
They were also both founded to combat heresy -- the Dominicans to fight the Albigensians, and the Jesuits to fight the Protestants."
"What is different about the Jesuit and Dominican Orders?"
"Met any Albigensians lately?"

I've already provided you with some tonight. You provided no links, nothing.
In post 441 you told me to do it myself and provided nothing since then.
I checked your posting history so know they are not there.

Who's refusing Christ's completed work? Anyone who adds to what Christ has done.
Don't we need to do a little work also?
Nope.
Or all you just too lazy to do so?
It's not a matter of laziness.
It's a matter of we have a debt we cannot pay because the wages of sin is death and we cannot pay that. Only Jesus could, so nothing we can to, will do, or have ever done, can pay that debt.

And Jesus alone is that narrow gate, which is why so many people don't find it.
They are trying to get in at *Jesus plus Fill in the blank* gates.

Nothing but hogwash; but amusing never the less. Hogwash?
You have a pretty low opinion of the Word of God and the Promises He made to us in it.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
2 Corinthians 5:4-8 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdenednot that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.
So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
Ephesians 1:13-14 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Do you now know that youre assured salvation, no matter what sins you have committed or what sins you will commit in the future?
Will you answer that question for all protestants to see?
I'll answer for the ENTIRE WORLD to see for that is the promise of the Gospel.
********
5For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.
6But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN? (that is, to bring Christ down), 7or WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8But what does it say? THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEARTthat is, the word of faith which we are preaching,
9that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
11For the Scripture says, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. 12For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;
13for WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED. Romans 10:5-13 NASB
**************
This is the promise Paul was moved to write by the Holy Spirit.
It is crystal clear in meaning.
I believe it 100%.
I am trusting in Christ and Christ alone for my salvation. Only HE can cleanse my sins.
As a follower of Christ I have been adopted into His family.
15For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, Abba! Father! 16The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. Romans 8:15-17
In Roman times an adopted child had the following benefits per Roman law.
1. they could not be removed from the family once adopted
2. they had a right to use the family name
3. all their debts were assumed by the family
4. they had a right to inheritance of the family
******************
When Paul speaks of adoption as sons this is what he had in mind. The believers at the church in Rome, and around the Empire, would understand this.
********
Now, what are you trusting in?
You are clinging to an idol of man-made cloth to avoid the eternal fire.
For it to "work" you have to wear it continually. You have to do a bunch of "good deeds". In other words, you're trying to earn your salvation.
Sadly though for you, and anyone else wearing this idolatrous thing around their neck, they have abandoned the Gospel of Christ. That is, you have gone after another gospel which is a false gospel.
That scapular you wear around your neck is an albatross that negates the Cross and His sacrifice.
Trusting in it over Christ consigns you to the very place you are trying to avoid going to.
To: ebb tide
When you add anything to Christs work for our salvation you are refusing His free gift and trying to earn it instead. That is a slap in the face to our Savior and futile as well as we can add nothing to why He has done for us.
Those of us that know that are not lazy. We understand our sinfulness and Christs sufficiency. Stop trying to earn what you never can. Give up and accept the free gift of salvation. That is where true freedom lies.
