Answer: Liturgically it is not required. This is a pious custom that, while less common today, is still observed by many. This is not only in the liturgy, but at any time the name of Jesus is uttered, and also, quite commonly, the name of Mary. In the traditional Latin Mass, where clergy wear birettas (a kind of square hat with a pom), there is the additional tipping (lifting off) of the biretta at the names of Jesus, Mary and the saint of the day. This external and very visible action also helped the faithful remember to bow their heads.
This laudable custom has sadly declined. Some clergy and others still observe it, and, while it is not required, it is worthy of being encouraged. Other customs too should not be forgotten, such as making the Sign of the Cross when passing a Catholic Church, praying the Angelus at noon and 6 p.m., and so forth. The generations raised in the 1960s and ’70s largely abandoned such practices. However, many of their children have rediscovered some of these lost customs like a precious heirloom brought down from the attic. Thus, while being careful not to harshly judge those who do not follow this non-required custom, many can joyfully take it up again and encourage others to do so.

What you posted for the Ten Commandments, including the Catholic version, is a short-hand of the Decalogue from Scripture. Scripture in fact does not divide out and enumerate the Ten Commandments.
You do know the Catholic version is based on Deuteronomy, right?

I have not edited the passage from Exodus. It is Rome who has done so.

The Catholic version may be “based on” Scripture, but the Catholic church changed it and it’s wrong.

Rome may say, in contradiction to the Word, these things are ok....but the texts do not authorize what Rome has.
You are arguing about a tradition. I didn't realize you were so bound by tradition.
Rome is bound by tradition and that is what Rome advertises regarding the 10 Commandments.....Christianity by the Word.
You will note this was authorized by God for a specific reason.
You may also be aware of the following regarding the bronze serpent:

I encourage anyone else that felt personally attacked by me on this or any other thread to PM me and explain in which post I was rude or unkind in any manor so that I can make amends and attempt to prevent it from happening in the future.
I do believe that we hold a great deal more and certainly more significant beliefs in common than the trivial issues that often get us arguing.

But condescending and generally nasty comments towards other people who are also defending THEIR beliefs are certain to get you quite firmly labeled, and tends to provoke snarky comments in return.
Especially when you start turning it into attacks on the people instead of talking about theology.
And your comments on the thread have been a stream of ad hominems. Why would you expect people not to respond in kind?
