[4] "A graven thing, nor the likeness of any thing": All such images, or likenesses, are forbidden by this commandment, as are made to be adored and served; according to that which immediately follows, thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them. That is, all such as are designed for idols or image-gods, or are worshipped with divine honour. But otherwise images, pictures, or representations, even in the house of God, and in the very sanctuary so far from being forbidden, are expressly authorized by the word of God. See Ex. 25. 15, and etc.; chap. 38. 7; Num. 21. 8, 9; 1 Chron. or Paralip. 28. 18, 19; 2 Chron. or Paralip. 3. 10.

The kneeling before idols of Mary, the prayers TO Mary, the reliance upon Mary for your salvation, et, etc....are not authorized by any part of Scripture.

Rome may say, in contradiction to the Word, these things are ok....but the texts do not authorize what Rome has.

Regarding your appeal to Numbers 21:8-9 to justify Rome's sanctioning of idols of Mary.

You will note this was authorized by God for a specific reason.

You may also be aware of the following regarding the bronze serpent:

H 1Now it came about in the third year of Hoshea, the son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah became king. 2He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother’s name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah. 3He did right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done. 4He removed the high places and broke down the sacred pillars and cut down the Asherah.

He also broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for until those days the sons of Israel burned incense to it; and it was called Nehushtan.

[Note who King Hezekiah trusts in] 5He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him.

6For he clung to the LORD; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD had commanded Moses. 2 Kings 18:1-6 NASB

That’s not Scripture.

That’s Catholic opinion and commentary, essentially, excuse making for breaking the Second Commandment.
