For the first time in history, a number of bishops as well as representatives of every major traditionalist priestly fraternity in the world (including the SSPX and FSSP), as well as journalists from both sides of the Atlantic, will come together for a weekend conference to discuss united and principled defense of Holy Mother Church. This is NOT a traditionalist version of false ecumenism. There are serious issues which still come between the participants in this conference. However, this is a gathering of serious Catholics who realize the Church is suffering her worst assault in history, and thus requires all of her sons and daughters to stand in her defense. On October 27 in Weirton, WV (minutes from the Pittsburgh Airport, near Steubenville, OH), be a part of this history making conference. Let's take our Church back! Please visit The Remnant website for a complete list of the speakers and to register online. Only 30 seats left.

Weirton? What’s left of it?
That place was best known for underage bars when I was a kid (West Virginia had an 18 drinking age, five miles from two states where it was 21).
“Why am I not surprised you have problems with Fatima, the rosary and the TLM?”
Why am I not surprised that you would completely make up out of thin air the idea that I have a problem with “Fatima, the rosary and the TLM”?
Seriously, why do you do that? I said NOTHING against any of the three and yet you completely make up the idea that I have problems with them. I attend the Latin Mass at a Latin Mass parish. I say the Rosary. I believe the Fatima apparitions happened. I have no problem with any of the three. Again, why would you falsely make up the idea that I have a problem with any of them?
Seriously, why do you do that?
Because you seemed to be making fun of them, and the Remnant, by stating, "If we just had more Latin Masses and more Rosaries prayed everything would be fine.
Why would you say something like that?
“First of all, I don’t make stuff up out of thin air.”
That’s simply not true.
“Because you seemed to be making fun of them, and the Remnant, by stating, “If we just had more Latin Masses and more Rosaries prayed everything would be fine.”
That’s not making fun of them. That’s simply stating the truth of what they often say.
“Why would you say something like that?”
Because it’s 100% factually correct. If you don’t believe me, go to the conference and see for yourself.
Sorry, rarely have I seen you make a “100% factually correct” post. And I haven’t seen one today.
“Sorry, rarely have I seen you make a 100% factually correct post. And I havent seen one today.”
Yes you have.
I see what you are trying to say. If you think that is all they will talk about, what would you like the Remnant conference to be about/address?
“If you think that is all they will talk about, what would you like the Remnant conference to be about/address?”
That’s not all they will talk about. That’s just what will dominate the summary. What they should address is “old evangelism” vs. “new evangelism”, how to make the old Mass the vehicle of evangelism in a Church that partly suppresses the old Mass, how to harness the strength of traditional families in prayer for Catholic identity and evangelism, how to navigate the diocesan problems regarding the old Mass, etc. Oh, they’ll touch on some of this but the answers will always be: old Mass, family prayer of the Rosary, etc.
What they’re officially discussing, however, is “Fatima and the Post Vatican II Church: Where do we go from here?” This means that the conference will do what traditionalist conferences almost always do: Wax nostalgic. There will be talk about Fatima, what Fatima has to do with the condition of the Church now, and how everything would be better if we just had the Latin Mass everywhere. The problem with this this understanding was best summed up by a traditionalist priest I knew who once told me that he had once believed that if we just had the old Mass back everything would get better, everything would dramatically improve. Then, after being a priest for ten or fifteen years, he realized that just wasn’t the case. He still believed the old Mass should be everywhere, but he also realized that the problems in the Church were much deeper and broader than most traditionalists realize.
Traditionalists need to do a lot more reaching out to non-traditionalists, more work with young people, more evangelism, more catechesis, more Bible study for laity (how many traditional priests have EVER offered a Bible study class at their parish?), more public speaking, meet more people outside of their parish. There’s way too much ghettoization of traditionalists. Traditionalists have a lot to offer, but are completely failing in encountering the wider Church.
We agree here. I think most Catholics (here at FR and elsewhere) who consider themselves "traditionalist" think the only issue is the liturgy. However, I'm not sure that I would put the folks at The Remnant in the same category. I think they do realize there are deeper issues, such as Vatican II.
So your previous post #13 was not "100% factually correct".
Fancy that.
The Church will never fail. Maybe things might get as bad as in Lord of the World for Her, but the gates of Hell will never prevail.
The question seems to be facing all Catholics is, do we withdraw from the world, assimilate into the world, or challenge the world in the public sphere.
I must admit, I'm tired of the fight against all the evil. So I don't know if I can do the last option for long. I'm just not sure the first two are options either. They seem to shirk the great commission.
Like I said, I should probably pray more. Fortunately we have the Roasary too.
“So your previous post #13 was not “100% factually correct”.”
No, it was.
“Fancy that.”
You’ll just make something else up out of thin air.
No, you summarized a meeting that has yet to occur. And then, when questioned, about your fortune-telling, you back-pedal and say “that’s not all they will talk about”.
So now you are again fortune-telling. And you claim you’re a Catholic?
“No, you summarized a meeting that has yet to occur.”
If it’s predictable, and it is, then it can be summed up even if it has not yet occurred.
1) It’s about Fatima - the title tells us that. Note: I said, “Fatima is true”
2) All or almost all of the speakers are Latin Mass attendees or Latin Mass priests. Note: I said, “we need the Latin Mass”.
3) It’s said to be “The Catholic Identity Conference 2017” and had a traditional line up. The Church’s Marian devotion is a distinctive of the Catholic faith - especially among traditional Catholics. Note: I said, “pray the Rosary”.
4) Look again at the speaker line up. Note, I said, “there are enemies of the faith in the Church.”
5) Look at the line up yet again. Note, I said, “If we just had more Latin Masses and more Rosaries prayed everything would be fine.”
It’s all pretty darn predictable.
“And then, when questioned, about your fortune-telling, you back-pedal and say thats not all they will talk about.”
There was no “back-pedaling”. Summing up a thing does not mean giving the totality of a thing in every detail. In case you didn’t know, a summary is not a COMPLETE description. It is a succinct description. Do you know the difference?
“So now you are again fortune-telling.”
No. It’s predictable. Just like many of your posts.
“And you claim youre a Catholic?”
I am Catholic. And I’m right about this conference. And I’m right about your posts. You apparently don’t know much about the speakers, the topics to be covered or even the name of the conference if you cam’t see the predictability of it.
