I see what you are trying to say. If you think that is all they will talk about, what would you like the Remnant conference to be about/address?

“If you think that is all they will talk about, what would you like the Remnant conference to be about/address?”

That’s not all they will talk about. That’s just what will dominate the summary. What they should address is “old evangelism” vs. “new evangelism”, how to make the old Mass the vehicle of evangelism in a Church that partly suppresses the old Mass, how to harness the strength of traditional families in prayer for Catholic identity and evangelism, how to navigate the diocesan problems regarding the old Mass, etc. Oh, they’ll touch on some of this but the answers will always be: old Mass, family prayer of the Rosary, etc.

What they’re officially discussing, however, is “Fatima and the Post Vatican II Church: Where do we go from here?” This means that the conference will do what traditionalist conferences almost always do: Wax nostalgic. There will be talk about Fatima, what Fatima has to do with the condition of the Church now, and how everything would be better if we just had the Latin Mass everywhere. The problem with this this understanding was best summed up by a traditionalist priest I knew who once told me that he had once believed that if we just had the old Mass back everything would get better, everything would dramatically improve. Then, after being a priest for ten or fifteen years, he realized that just wasn’t the case. He still believed the old Mass should be everywhere, but he also realized that the problems in the Church were much deeper and broader than most traditionalists realize.

Traditionalists need to do a lot more reaching out to non-traditionalists, more work with young people, more evangelism, more catechesis, more Bible study for laity (how many traditional priests have EVER offered a Bible study class at their parish?), more public speaking, meet more people outside of their parish. There’s way too much ghettoization of traditionalists. Traditionalists have a lot to offer, but are completely failing in encountering the wider Church.
