Poll: 83% of Catholics think Satan is just a symbol
Eight in ten U.S. Catholics don't believe that Satan actually exists, according to a new analysis of statistics.
In an online post dated August 24, the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) dissected raw data from the Faith and Global Policy Challenges Survey. This 2011 study polled 1,496 adults in the United States who profess belief in the existence of God with special emphasis on Christians.
CARA's analysis highlighted a concerning trend among Catholic respondents. Only 17 percent of Catholics said they believe that Satan is a living being. The vast majority, the remaining 83 percent, report thinking of Satan as merely a symbol of evil.
Satan's literal existence was most popular among Evangelical Protestants, 55 percent of whom said they believe the devil is a real being.
The fraction of the Catholic constituency that affirmed the devil's existence was smaller than that of any other religious group. Belief in the devil was almost as rare among Catholics as it was among those with no religious affiliation (16%).
Mark M. Gray, editor of CARA's research blog, dug deeper into the survey's raw data. He noted that Catholics who admit Satan's real existence are more likely to support pro-life initiatives, see the world as divided between good and evil and believe in spiritual and moral obligations.

So most of my fellow Catholics think Jesus was a liar? Are these practicing catholics?
Those Catholics in question have never seen an armed enemy from 20 yards or been in a foxhole, but their time may come.
I see Satan’s handiwork every day.
Then they aren’t Catholic.
Amen!
see tagline.
Because it is true. Catholics used to go to church to worship God. Since Vatican II, it is now a social gathering, complete with liberal indoctrination.
Many don’t seem to be too sure about Jesus either - He’s been replaced by a lot of mortal “saints” when it comes to prayers.
Not surprised. I don’t think the current pope even believes God exists.
That is not for you to say, and is simply your interpretation, while Rome even counts and treats proabortion, prohomosexual public figures as members in life and in death, thereby manifesting its interpretation of itself as regards Canon Law (such as canon 194 ; 1321-1330 ; 1364- 1369 1184
For according to popes such as Pope Pius X, your one basic duty to simply follow your pastors rather being the one who interprets Catholic teaching:
It follows that the Church is essentially an unequal society, that is, a society comprising two categories of per sons, the Pastors and the flock...the one duty of the multitude is to allow themselves to be led, and, like a docile flock, to follow the Pastors. - VEHEMENTER NOS, an Encyclical of Pope Pius X promulgated on February 11, 1906.
And to scrutinize the actions of a bishop, to criticize them, does not belong to individual Catholics, but concerns only those who, in the sacred hierarchy, have a superior power; above all, it concerns the Supreme Pontiff, for it is to him that Christ confided the care of feeding not only all the lambs, but even the sheep [cf. John 21:17]. - Est Sane Molestum (1888) Apostolic Letter of Pope Leo XIII
To the shepherds alone was given all power to teach, to judge, to direct; on the faithful was imposed the duty of following their teaching, of submitting with docility to their judgment, and of allowing themselves to be governed, corrected, and guided by them in the way of salvation. Thus, it is an absolute necessity for the simple faithful to submit in mind and heart to their own pastors , and for the latter to submit with them to the Head and Supreme Pastor....
Similarly, it is to give proof of a submission which is far from sincere to set up some kind of opposition between one Pontiff and another. Those who, faced with two differing directives, reject the present one to hold to the past, are not giving proof of obedience to the authority which has the right and duty to guide them; and in some ways they resemble those who, on receiving a condemnation, would wish to appeal to a future council, or to a Pope who is better informed.
On this point what must be remembered is that in the government of the Church, except for the essential duties imposed on all Pontiffs by their apostolic office, each of them can adopt the attitude which he judges best according to times and circumstances. Of this he alone is the judge. It is true that for this he has not only special lights, but still more the knowledge of the needs and conditions of the whole of Christendom, for which, it is fitting, his apostolic care must provide. - Epistola Tua (1885), Apostolic Letter of Pope Leo XIII; http://novusordowatch.org/leo13-epistola-tua/
Of course, you could decide to be Scriptural and ascertain the validity of teaching by examination of what is taught in the light of Scripture, with a heart to obey it, and which manifests the Catholic deformation of the NT church .
I’m Catholic and sure do believe in Satan / The Devil. I don’t know any Catholic that doesn’t believe in the Devil / Satan.

They obviously don’t read, or believe what the Bible says either. They will be in for a rude awakening when they meet their master after death.
Most probably haven’t been taught this very Catholic prayer:
Saint Michael Archangel defend us in battle
be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil
may God rebuke him, we humbly pray
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, cast into hell
Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen
It is not for you to say what is for me to say.
This is the United States of America, where it is my God-given right to express my opinion.
Satan originated as the Accuser at God’s right hand doing whatever he could to keep people out of Heaven.
And the fact that most Catholics regard the Hebrew Bible as mythology is passed over again.
No it is not true. Have you ever even darkened the door of a Catholic Church? Do you speak with other parishioners on why they are there?
If you think this is the norm for Catholics, I invite you to attend my parish ... St. Jude in Allen, TX. Feel free to drop by any given day.
