"Be even better if we had a practicing Catholic as Pope." Exactly so!

I was hoping Newt would become Trump’s Chief of Staff after Priebus is fired.
To: dfwgator
If he keeps practicing he may get there one day.

However, it is inaccurate to assert that CG is not a practicing Catholic. She is living in a state of adultery. A mortal sin.

Or at least someone who was not an adulteress. Maybe she has repented her sin; that's why the Church offers the Sacrament of Penance.

While I understand peoplesâ concern about this pick, I believe that the necessary canonical legal hoops were jumped through for Callista and Newt to be married in the Catholic Church. Again, I am not defending this pick for US Ambassador to the Vatican, but I am 95% sure Callista and Newt are validly married in the eyes of the Catholic Church.

You need to go watch his interview from this morning. Newt said it is the Clinton’s with the Russians...Also Newt wants to know why the murder of Seth has not been investigated...You are on the wrong site...

Callista and Newt have reconciled with their past and on the terms of the Roman Catholic Church.
Confessions have been made, penances imposed and annulment of Newt’s past civil marriage has been rendered, which is a time consuming process by the Tribunal, seldom anything short of an ordeal.
Callista faithfully sings in the Mass choir at the Basilica of the National Shrine on a regular basis, televised frequently. One could assume Newt is among the hundreds of faithful gathered there.
I wish them the same as I would for myself. Salvation and joy. They are together a devoted couple to one another and to the Church.

A far as I’ve been able to determine from the press coverage, Callista and Newt are both practicing Catholics united in Catholic matrimony.
They lived in flagrant adultery “back when,” but apparently a serious and sincere process of repentance and confession; and the formal annulment of prior null unions has got them to a place of lawful honorable wedlock. They now live straight and in the Sacraments. I hope we’re all OK with that.

Why do you say this? Newt was a widower (if I have my facts straight.) Also, I know you have heard of annulments.
