The Catholic Church Built Western Civilization | Duke Pesta and Stefan Molyneux
YouTube ^ | 160906 | Stefan Molyneux / Duke Pesta

Posted on 09/06/2016 11:16:34 PM PDT by Arthur McGowan

What was the role of the Catholic Church in building Western Civilization? While the typical mainstream narrative depicts the church as hostile to science and philosophy, it appears that once again the truth about history has been stolen from us. Dr. Duke Pesta joins Stefan Molyneux to discuss the unspoken truth about the impact of the Catholic church on scientific inquiry, philosophy and Western Civilization overall.

“A blog for a reference source?”

The blog contained the photograph.

“Come on, Vlad...I expect better from you.”

A priest was pictured being shot. And you’re going to whine about the fact it appeared on a blog?

“That might pass for research from other posters but not from you.”

It’s a picture. You seem to be afraid to deal with it and instead criticize the source.

“You’re a little loose with your facts.”

Nope.

“From the link you provided. Only one protestant group is named.”

Even one proves my point. You can’t say it didn’t happen if there is even only one - and there wasn’t only one and still isn’t - so you’re done already.

“You may note also blame is also laid at America as well.”

And?

“You blaming America for this??”

If I did does it in any way change the factual correctness of anything else I said? No, not one bit - everything I said is still absolutely true.

You really seem desperate. I guess you would have to be in your situation.

“Just read your tagline and it made me laugh!”

At least one anti-Catholic was upset by it and demanded I change it. He apparently thought it was about him specifically. All I could think was. . . well, at least he knows his limitations.

Nope. You said protestant groups...that's plural. Only one was named.

That's why I said you're a little loose with the facts. Your implication is that there was more than one.

You're a detail guy. If you make the assertion you have to support it. Your assertion of groups was incorrect based on the link you provided.

“Nope. You said protestant groups...that’s plural. Only one was named.”

Doesn’t matter. Whether there was only one mentioned or not - it clearly happened. If you want the names of the others do some actual research. I clearly posted FACTS you must not have known about. You clearly need to read up on it. I don’t. I was right all along and that won’t change.

“That’s why I said you’re a little loose with the facts.”

No. Everything I posted was absolutely correct. The only thing you could possibly claim that I was “loose” on was in posting of evidence that proved a plurality of cases rather than just one. I feel no need to prove the plurality since I have already done this at Freerepublic in the past for some other anti-Catholic moron. The way I look at it, I was right then, I’m right now, and since I already know I posted the evidence you can go look it up for yourself.

“Your implication is that there was more than one.”

No. MY CLEAR STATEMENT was that there was more than one and there was more than one. And I am perfectly secure in the knowledge that there was more than one because I knew it even before I went through all this with the last anti-Catholic who also didn’t know what he was talking about.

“You’re a detail guy.”

No. I’m just a person who gets it right whether I include details or not. If you never heard of the Mexican Catholic Apostolic Church - and it seems pretty darn obvious that that is the case - than you are already operating at a tremendous knowledge deficit on this issue compared to me. If that is the case - and it clearly is - than I have no reason to think I have anything to gain by doing even more work for you. I gather that you will do what every anti-Catholics seems to do when they are shown to not know what they are talking about:

1) Say it isn’t so.
2) After being shown it isn’t so, try nitpicking the details as if those actually change the big picture.
3) Deny any of it matters rather than admit error.
4) Claim you’re right some how even though all the facts go against your claims anyway.
5) Bring up the Inquisition or priests who molested children or the Crusades or God-only-know-what and then run from the thread.

“If you make the assertion you have to support it.”

Nope. I know the assertion to be fact so I feel no compunction about proving it to your satisfaction and know that even if I posted ten examples I would be told it wasn’t enough. One is enough for me. . . and as I said: I already went through this with an anti-Catholic moron here at Freerepublic.

“Your assertion of groups was incorrect based on the link you provided.”

Nope. At worst you could claim the link showing the existence of one such group only proves the existence of one group and not multiple groups. The existence of one example in such a case can never prove the assertion of multiple examples to be untrue because that’s not how logic works. The very fact that you confuse two entirely different things does not bode well for your understanding of these issues.

Well, when the name calling begins in the conversation it tells me who the winner is. As always Vlad it’s been interesting.

And that brings us to #5:

“5) Bring up the Inquisition or priests who molested children or the Crusades or God-only-knows-what [e.g. “name calling”] and then run from the thread.”

Thanks for proving my point. Anti-Catholics are so predictable that I often know what you’re going to do before you do it.

I think Our Lady of Fatima was dropping a hint about that...

'She' dropped MORE than HINTS!

The 15 promises

(Given to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche)

1 Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive powerful graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying Himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise Him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
9. I  shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I  have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death
14. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.

"The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem,

no matter how difficult it is, wheter temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, of our families...that cannot be solved by the Rosary.

There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot resolve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary."

Sister Lucia dos Santos

The Catholic Church was made illegal in Mexico after its elite embraced pseudo-Protestant ideals incorporated in Masonry.

HMMMmm...   I wonder why???

In the national period, following independence in early nineteenth century, Mexico established a legal framework that continued the privileged status of the Catholic Church as the sole religion. The liberal Reforma of the late 1850s sparked an extended period of violent conflict between the conservative supporters of the old order and liberals who sought to displace and diminish the power of the Church. The Mexican Revolution was won largely anticlerical Constitutionalists and the Church's role in Mexico was restricted constitutionally.[1]    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_in_Mexico

(I wonder what religious order most illegal aliens Border Invaders make claims to.)

When it comes to modern miracles, such as the miracles worked by the Mother of God at Lourdes, scientific methods of observing and documenting events are helpful.

The way it's written:

Mary is called the Mother of God by Saint Luke.

“Who am I, that the MOTHER OF MY LORD should come to me?”—Saint Elizabeth, speaking while “filled with the Holy Spirit,” quoted in Luke 1:43.

Why don’t you believe the Scriptures?

Has anyone other than you brought up the inquisition??

Nope.

As I said when the name calling begins the Catholic has lost the debate. It's just like the left when they bring up the charge of racism. They've lost the debate.
