One lesson talked about stuff, and in there was a line about something like “and many came to believe and were Baptized”.
And then in another section there was a verse that went something like “and he was Baptized, and the Holy Spirit came upon him.” (I think it might have been the Centurion?)
Anyway - I know that Baptism is an important thing to God. Heck - even Jesus got Baptized! And God even spoke!! (Talk about putting on a show!)
I think your Baptism would be a great affirmation of God - and worshipping God. Give your “testimony” before hand. And - perhaps it could be a “reaffirmation”. I'm guessing that we “know” about .001% of what God wants Baptism to mean. Celebrate your renewed faith with friends and family and the sacrament of baptism.
.
Obviously Rood has a far better grasp than you do, but actually reading the word would help you more, IMO.
You have been layered in vaporous dogma that can only be replaced with the solid word of the Savior and his apostles.
None of them call for an “apostolic tradition,” and the only traditions they supported were those not just practiced, but also recorded in Tanakh.
“There you have it, the Church was pagan for 1,500 years.
Just amazing.”
Once you mix paganism with Christianity, it is no longer Christianity. It is syncretic paganism.
It started early. It accelerated under Rome. It is admitted in the Catholic Encyclopedia. It’s progressiv doctrines were written about by Ratzinger - one of your “popes” - as posted on FR on more than one occasion.
I accept their confirmation.
Best.
Water baptism is an outward expression of an inward reality.
Wrong wrong wrong.
I notice no Scriptures are ever cited for these assertions.
Clearly the bible never uses the term “water baptism”. That should be the first clue a man made tradition is being taught.
Baptism is for the remission of sins. Acts 2:38, 22:16, Ephesians 5:26, Titus 3:5 among many other passages.
Baptism is for receiving the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38, 1 Corinthians 6:11 among others.
Baptism is for being placed into Christ. Romans 6:3.
We will just get crickets from those who teach:
Water baptism.......????
Spirit baptism........???
Baptism for obedience........????
Baptism as symbolic.........????
Baptism as a public testimony........???
Baptism as an outward sign of the salvation which has already taken place.....?????
No one saw any of these things in the Bible for 1,500 years for a very good reason............they aren’t there!
Syncretic paganism is admitted by the Catholic Encyclopedia............
I would laugh if it wasn’t so sad and so serious.
We are living in an age that was foretold 2,000 years ago, namely that there would be a great falling away from the Faith right before the return of the Lord Jesus on Judgement Day.
It is stunning the speed in which this apostasy is taken hold, historical Christianity is rejected except by a very small remnant. Satan has taken his seat in the temple of God and deception is the order of the day.
People are very comfortable believing whatever THEY want, and justify it by thinking their heart is in the right place. Forget what they believe was unheard of by any Christian for 1,500 years. The historical orthodox Christian Faith is called man made religion. Deception is the order of the day.
The Scriptures and history are so clear, yet few see it. It is stunning.
There is more than one kind of baptism prescribed in the scriptures...But there is only one baptism that will put you into the body of Christ...And it has nothing to do with water...You've got the wrong 'One' baptism...
“Syncretic paganism is admitted by the Catholic Encyclopedia............I would laugh if it wasnt so sad and so serious.
All posted on FR multiple times.
... As were Ratzinger’s writings.
There is more than one kind of baptism prescribed in the scriptures....
Really? Very interesting.
How many baptisms were prescribed to Paul in Acts?
How many baptisms were prescribed to the eunuch in Acts?
Maybe it would be easier to ask if more than one baptism was prescribed to anyone in the Scriptures? If so, please cite the Scripture for when each baptism took place.
Act 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Calling on the name of the Lord is what washed away Paul's sins...Water had nothing to do with it...
Act_2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Can you answer #170?
Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
The Bible says I am correct.
Nonsense...Show just one verse anywhere in the scriptures where someone was baptized without first repenting...
Too easy.
Acts 16:33. Show me anywhere that the jailers family repented, but it says they were baptized.
This is totally unscriptural as the Bible is clear there is only ONE baptism, just as there there is only ONE LORD and only ONE FAITH.
What this proves is that you don't spend much time reading the scriptures...There are seven baptisms in the scriptures...The One baptism spoken of that you refer to is one of those baptisms...And that baptism has nothing to do with water...
Really???
Act_1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
John baptizes with water...
Jesus baptizes with the Holy Ghost...
Water baptism and Spiritual baptism...
Post resurrection, there is only ONE baptism for the Christian.
I asked a question in #170, as it is midnight I hope to have an answer when I check in sometime Wednesday morning. I will be pleasantly surprised if actual Bible verses are cited to support the answer, but I won’t be holding my breath.........
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Act 19:2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
People there were baptized twice...Once with water and once with the Spirit...
And by the way, there never was any remission of sins by getting wet...Getting wet was always a testimony that one believed in Jesus...And the remission of sins was for that belief...
Act_10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
The water is just a testimony...
