Voting Republican and other failed culture war strategies are not going to save us now.
No, the sky is not falling not yet, anyway but with the Supreme Court ruling constitutionalizing same-sex marriage, the ground under our feet has shifted tectonically.
It is hard to overstate the significance of the Obergefell decision and the seriousness of the challenges it presents to orthodox Christians and other social conservatives. Voting Republican and other failed culture war strategies are not going to save us now.
Discerning the meaning of the present moment requires sobriety, precisely because its radicalism requires of conservatives a realistic sense of how weak our position is in post-Christian America...

John 15:19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.
Beginning to wonder if decent people of conscience can take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution as it now stands interpreted. Rome too became hedonistic and decadent. The growing minority of Christians despite persecution, cajoling and finally begging by hard pressed emperors, refused to serve in the Roman army or participate in civic affairs. Rome eventually radically transformed.
Is this in reference to Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox...?
I’ve been living like an exile ever since I have been a Christian. It’s just gotten more hostile across all areas of life.
As citizens we have a duty to disregard unconstitutional laws. Whatever form that takes for us. We do it because we stand for the constitution when the government will not.
I don’t intend to live as an exile in my own country.

I think Dreher is missing something. That something is secession. The South, Texas, Midwest and mountain West are majority conservative bible believing Christians who’d love nothing better to break away from DC and the decadent coastal elites. Once we are free of all that, we can write our own founding documents and enshrine Christianity into law.
My straight niece is getting married in August so I’m going to a #RealWedding.
Don't forget Ukrainian Orthodox...

The Church in Exile lives on and looks to Jesus for strength day by day. We are strangers and pilgrims here. Heaven is our home. While we are here, we are to take care of each other and avoid being partners to the unbelievers, who have no hope beyond their very short existence here and who misuse their lives accordingly.
“Do not be yoked with the evildoers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)
Bravo.
That makes more than a few of us.........
When several historic events happen on the exact same day, its a sign:
June 26 should be a national holiday.
On Friday the Supreme Court ruled that gay Americans had the right to marry in every state in the country. On the exact same date two years ago, the same court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, allowing same-sex couples to access federal benefits. And when the Supreme Court ruled that same-sex sexual activity should be legal in every state in the Lawrence vs Texas ruling in 2003, it did so on June 26. Its a coincidence, but also much more than that."...
Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
homosexual behavior will be treated the same as other sex fringe groups.
There is no “acceptance” as normal for adultery, swinging, sadism, or masochism either.
Shouldn’t that be “real marriage?”
To coin a word perhaps it is time for the orthodox to become orthosotor.
I.e. to take the grace and work of the Savior seriously. It was never a do it yourself project, but men in their pride constantly make it one.
It is a quest of opening up to the Lord and then permitting Him to have His way.
If Christians are mumbling in a room about what’s right that is one thing. If they are letting it live gloriously in their own lives, that is quite another.
