Voting Republican and other failed culture war strategies are not going to save us now.
No, the sky is not falling not yet, anyway but with the Supreme Court ruling constitutionalizing same-sex marriage, the ground under our feet has shifted tectonically.
It is hard to overstate the significance of the Obergefell decision and the seriousness of the challenges it presents to orthodox Christians and other social conservatives. Voting Republican and other failed culture war strategies are not going to save us now.
Discerning the meaning of the present moment requires sobriety, precisely because its radicalism requires of conservatives a realistic sense of how weak our position is in post-Christian America...

Bake the cake, or else #LoveWins and you lose your business or end up in jail.
It’s not urban vs. rural. Trust me, I live in the interior of a large mid-Atlantic state, and propel in the hustings are just as supportive of this rainbow nonsense as urbanites. It is regional, not urban vs rural.
I don’t think so. I think he means “Bible-believing” versus social club Christians or some such.
Not just exiles, but persecuted. I will speak my mind if asked at work and see how it shakes out. I’ll find out how PC we are.
Orthodox with a small “o”.
Bake the cake but you don’t gave to bake it well. Bake it yucky.
If you live in a mid atlantic state it probably does have large rural liberal areas but most of the country isn’t that way.
The Lord is coming again, this will help prepare us.
“Is this in reference to Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox...?”
No. In this case he is speaking of small ‘o’ orthodox. It came out in capital form because it was in the title.
If you can get 38 conservative states, you can constitutionally overrule the big population liberal states like California and New York.
I don't know if there are 38 though.
We’re now kind of in the position of Egypt’s Coptic Christians with militant atheists, Muslims and the gay deities (Christian homosexual apologists) aligned in opposition.
I wouldn't want my birthday to be forever associated with this Sodom and Gomorrah shit.
You mean orthodox?
Forgive the silliness, the kick in the stomach still hurts.
It's time for a I Kings 18 redux. Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered.
As opposed to Galatians 5:12 moment, perhaps. It's time.
I have no problem. If anyone wants to waste their time with a negative comment, I ask then nicely if they would please try to be more tolerant and unbigoted toward others who are not just like them. If they continue, I just tell them I don't have to listen to their intolerance or put up with their lack of diversity and walk away in disgust.
Use their OWN rules against them. The leftist are the most vile, hateful, intolerant, undiverse, noninclusive people I have ever met, and I have no problem calling them out on it.
"Be as wise as a serpent, but as gentle as a dove. "
Russell Moore wrote...
“The Supreme Court can do many things, but the Supreme Court cannot get Jesus back in that tomb. Jesus of Nazareth is still alive. ...He is still calling the universe toward his kingdom... the gospel doesnt need family values to flourish. ......In fact, the church often thrives when it is in sharp contrast to the cultures around it. ...That was the case in Ephesus and Philippi and Corinth and Rome, which held to marriage views out of step with the Scriptures.
Lets not simply talk about marriage in terms of values or culture or human flourishing. Lets talk about marriage the way Jesus and the apostles taught us to as bound up with the gospel itself, a picture of the union of Christ and his church (Eph. 5:32).
Too often weve neglected church discipline in the cases of those who have unrepentantly destroyed their marriages. We must repent of our failings and picture to the world what marriage is meant to be, and keep the light lit to the old paths.
We have the Spirit and the gospel. To think that we deserve to live in different times is to tell God that we deserve a better mission field than the one he has given us. Lets joyfully march to Zion.
We see that we are strangers and exiles in American culture. We are on the wrong side of history, just like we started....” We should have been all along”.
Lets seek the kingdom. Lets stand with the gospel. Lets fear our God. But lets not fear our mission field.”
What a strange way to phrase it. “Orthodox” is a pretty particular term in Christianity. Why didn’t he use “devout” or “conservative” Christians or something?
Fixed it.
Its interesting that you mention that. The author seems to think that the only option is some form of surrender. While I do believe that Federal electoral politics is a waste of time and energy for conservative, that is just a small sliver of what conservatives and Christians can bring to bear.
As for secession, I think the socialists are praying to their demigods that it happens. The reason why can be seen in looking at an electoral vote distribution. Losing a state like Texas just ensures that radical socialism wins at the presidential level...forever.
