"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."
I’ve given her scripture before; she has dismissed it, i.e., cherry picker.
How about you, do you also not believe in “free will”?
Yes or no?
Sure it has. Many times. If you don’t want to acknowledge it, then nobody can force you to.
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
John 6:37-39 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
John 10:25-30 Jesus answered them, I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father's name bear witness about me, but you do not believe because you are not among my sheep. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one.
Why should I not believe Him?
Be a sinner and sin boldly.
If that's not an exercise of free will against God, I'd like them to tell me why not.
But do you really think you have the True Faith? The 9-11 muslim terrorists also “knew” they had the “Faith”.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:15-23What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Likewise, how do YOU know you have the *true* faith?
I know that God has saved me because of the change that He wrought in me when I turned my life over to Him.
It’s not a matter of having the *true faith* as in believing the *correct* creeds or statements of faith of any certain denomination.
*Faith* in Scripture is defined as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” not a religious denomination or religious belief system.
If people don't have free will, why do some apostatize from the One, Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, while others don't?
It depends on what your faith is in, not whether a person has it. Everyone has faith in something.
Having faith in your faith isn’t going to save anyone.
Having faith in the person of Christ is what saves because HE is the one who saves.
So do you not believe in the Last Judgement? Do you get to go through the express line?
How does that song go, Highway to Heaven?
Post number???/surely you jest...virtually every prot post is either OSAS or some version of it...our works and behavior are meaningless...once we are saved, we are saved.....I left the Catholic church, said the magic words and now I am saved,Iam now a navigator and therefore I am saved, I accepted Christ, left religion and now I am saved.....good grief, read through the prots posts and you will see a thousand ways to be saved but only if you are not Catholic....PATHETIC
Not a very persuasive response.
Reread it...He sent some of the sheep to be with the goats....the ones who didn't comply....pay attention.
Contradictory statements. Prots can’t it both ways.
The word is PRESUMPTION.
If you want to mock something at least make sure of what you are mocking.
Do any of us claim to be the leader of the Catholic Church? Do any of us claim to be the Vicar of Christ?
Doesn't Catholicism teach that ALL go to purgatory first??
Daniel 12:2
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
Read the Book!
I think you meant ignored.
